Super Product-- Light and super compactable! Can't go wrong with these badboys!!!
Highly Recommended! I'm a super strong/fast hiker and wanted something that was super compact and light. The small amount of adjustability is what sold me on these trekking poles. It's just the right amount of variation to length of the pole to adjust for inclines/declines on the mountain. These easily fold in and out in literally seconds! I can stuff them in my backpack or even carry them in one hand with no problem! They even look badass (love the colors).Grip is great because it has treads on it so that I always feel secure with them in my hands. They also seem to absorb and dry the sweat from my palms, so no issues of them slipping out of my hands. Same goes for the straps-- they are made of a really solid material that isn't uncomfortable on my hands/wrists.I gave these 5 stars because they perfectly fit my ideal hiking situation (dry, hot summer treks up and down a steep mountain). If I was looking for something for winter use (e.g., snow conditions), I wouldn't recommend these poles because you can't install wider snow baskets on them.

Light, versatile, and like they weren't even there!
First time using hiking poles, and they were perfect! I used them to hike the Grand Canyon on the Bright Angel trail from the rim to the river and back on January 26th. They had 2-feet of snow a few days earlier, so I was not sure if I'd be able to fulfill my bucket-list item, but with these poles, I had no problem. The first three miles of trail were packed, single track snow. I put the carbide tips on, and they worked great! As a runner, I wasn't sure if I would be affected by using poles, but these were so light, I had no issues. They were great going down to help soften the steep parts, and I like that I could shorten them for the hike up. (Down in 2:34, up in 2:46) I took lots of photos, and had no soreness in my arms the next day. (My legs were another story.)Love how compact they stored, so they could be stored in my luggage for the flight out.

Light weight and compact when folded
I haven't used them for hiking yet, but they fold easily, are light weight, and are compact enough to fit in a carry-on. That's a big plus for me as I bought them for a hiking trip in Costa Rica this April. I didn't give them a 5 as I haven't been able to judge their durability yet.

Very light, great shock absorption, well made piece of kit
I've used this for hiking and a two day backpacking trip (mild elevation gains). Poles are super lightweight but almost more importantly have a VERY low swing weight. The easy 'deployment' is truly easy taking literally less than 20 seconds from folded to ready for use.The only caveat is that the weight comes at a cost of making sure you use them correctly. In very rocky terrain, e.g., parts of the trail from Lake Helen to Saddlebag Lake up near Tuolumne, you have to take care not to place the tip near the base of a large rock in such a way that when you step forward the pole tilts forward and compresses against a rock (like a big lever arm). Not sure how much it can take, but trying to pry a 50 pound rock out of the ground using a 1cm diameter hollow carbon fiber rod can't end well for the rod.Great product and looking to get another pair for my wife when the price is right.

UNSAFE ...JUNK!!!
DO NOT BUY THESE!!! PERIOD!! I would give these 0 stars if it was possible. I will tell you why, They are an extremely overpriced and unsafe product! They look great, feel great, light weight, but have a major design flaw. There is a spring-loaded button that locks the top of the trekking pole into place at the desired height. That is the flaw. It's right below the wrist & the thin carbon layers bear the load of the spring loaded metal button which in turn splits the carbon right down the middle like a loggers axe. There is no reinforcement to strengthen this part. Not at all worth the high price you will pay for them. Especially when it happened while hiking an extremely difficult and rocky trail on the edge of 13,000ft when it decided to split right down the middle and the pole collapsed in my hand. It completly threw me off balance and I literally almost went over the edge. Luckily I am an experienced climber and hiker and caught myself. This design flaw almost cost me my life! I use quite a few black diamond products, climbing helmets, headlamps and other mountain hiking gear. I AM HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS JUNK PRODUCT BLACK DIAMOND!!! These should be recalled and off the market! DO NOT BUY THESE!!! They may cost you your life!!

... The best Black Diamond poles by far
I have had 5 pairs of Black Diamond poles over the years and these are the best by far. These are everything I wanted the Distance Carbon Z poles to be (my last pair). I found the Distance Carbons to be a shade light and the Alpine Carbon Corks a little heavy but these are perfect. Now I have the light weight and also the adjustability to use with my TarpTent. I've read a couple of reviews where the owner said his poles had snapped and had pieces falling off them. All I can say is that the reviewer must have had incredibly bad luck or he works for Lecki or Komperdell.. I have thrashed my Distance Carbons, and as long as you understand they are lightweight carbon poles and not heavy duty aluminium models, I can't imagine how you could possibly break them. My new FLZ-Z poles feel more solid and although I have not had them long I expect they will continue to impress me as the best I have used or owned. I hike mainly in Australia and have no iffiliation with Black Diamond!

Light, comfortable, and so far durable as well.
I normally use Black Diamond Trail shock pro trekking poles but I wanted something lighter and more packable. I needed some adjustment and these provide that. I didn't expect to like these as much as I do. After using them for many months they have become my favorite poles. I still use my TSP's if I know there will be rugged terrain or deep snow but I have learned to trust the FLZ-Z poles. They don't exude the same bulletproof durability as the TSP's but they have proven to be far more rugged than I would have thought. Their lightness is easily noticeable and while the grips are not as plush they are comfortable. The straps are stiff at first but quickly break in and become comfortable as well. If lightweight and packability are what you're looking for these will make you happy,

Worth the money!!
I wanted to wait till I put these trecking poles to the test before writing a review.I’m a relitively fit 39yo and I never thought about getting some trecking poles until a few months ago I went with my girl on a couple “moderate” 6 hour hikes with a 40lbs back pack and found my self lagging behind and esesially holding her up with sore feet from the decent by the end of both days. In my defence, she’s an avid hiker and I am not.She recommended I get some trecking poles and said don’t cheap out and get one you love and don’t be afraid to spend a little more money. After reading reviews and blogs. I narrowed my search down to these collapsible Black diamonds - And the Black Diamond cork.I read a lot of reviewers who said they broke these their first hike so I was worried about them holding up, especially over time. Learning each part is replaceable and they come with both rubber and carbide tips and their super light weight and collapsable and easy to put in your pack when your not using. I decided to spend the few extra dollars and get these. After the first hike, I was happy to be able to keep up with my girl on the way up and on the way down had gained confidence dedecending around rocks and slipery slopes. They are super light weight and strong and allowed me to enjoy the hike more and would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a light weight quality trekking pole.Definitely worth the money!!
