Reliable Trickle Charger for Peace of Mind
As a DIY enthusiast who values reliable tools, the Foval Automatic Trickle Battery Charger has been a fantastic addition to my workshop. This charger has been a game-changer for keeping my 12V batteries in top condition. One thing I truly appreciate about this charger is its simplicity and effectiveness. It's incredibly easy to use, just plug it in and connect it to the battery, and it takes care of the rest. The automatic feature is a real lifesaver, ensuring the battery is charged to the right level without any risk of overcharging. This has given me great peace of mind, especially when leaving it connected for extended periods. The charger's compact size is another bonus. It doesn’t take up much space, making it perfect for my crowded workbench. Plus, the LED indicators are clear and helpful, letting me know the charging status at a glance. I’ve used it on various 12V batteries, from my car to my lawnmower, and it performs consistently well. It's great not having to worry about battery maintenance as much anymore. The trickle charge keeps them in good shape, ready to go whenever I need them. The only minor downside I've noticed is the length of the cables, which could be a bit longer for more flexibility in positioning. However, this is a small issue compared to the many benefits this charger offers. In summary, the Foval Automatic Trickle Battery Charger is a must-have for anyone looking to maintain their 12V batteries effortlessly. Its reliability, ease of use, and compact design make it an excellent choice for both casual and serious DIYers. It's a small investment that pays off big in terms of convenience and battery longevity.

Works perfectly for my garage door inverter battery. Excellent!!
I live in Japan. Long Story Short Version - After WWII, Japan received help from both the USA and England in rebuilding their electrical power infrastructure. The result is that parts of the country run on 50 Hz while other parts run on 60 Hz. I happen to live in the 50 Hz zone, so when I import electric-powered goods, it's hit and miss what will work. Case in point, my Chamberlain garage door opener. It sat for 6 years without being used because it never worked properly. I went through everything I could think of (including days on the phone with Chamberlain [warranty voided automatically]) but could never make it work. A few months ago, at a friend's house, he opens the garage door with a Chamberlain! His house is almost 100% off-grid. What he discovered was ... when he switches over to grid-power, he opener also doesn't work. The answer was in his main power, with was run by an inverter that outputs 110V@60 Hz. NOTE:I also tried a step-up converter to go from 100V to 120V, but that didn't do anything. My solution was to buy an inverter (120V@60Hz) and hook it up the same way my friend did, which worked. The final piece of the puzzle was 'how to keep the battery fully charged'. Ideally I could run the trickle charger from the inverter and have the electric charger equivalent of a perpetual motion machine, however ... it doesn't work. So, I'm running both a solar panel charger (during the day) and the trickle charger (at night) and it works brilliantly. SIDENOTE: With the inverter running 24/7, it draws down just enough power overnight that the inverter will not work in the morning. (For anyone who's interested, the REAL problem is my battery doesn't have enough Ah. At only 28 - the smallest battery I could find - it's not enough. If I double the Ah [which I did for a test - wife was gone for the weekend, so I pulled the battery out of the Honda Fit and connected it to the inverter battery with jumper cables] it lasts for 3 days without a charge. And I'll bet I cycled the opener at least 10 times a day.) I bought this charger figuring that I wasn't losing much $$ if it didn't work correctly, and if it DID work, but the charger burned out quickly I would just buy another, stronger charger. So far, no complaints at all. It's a great value and with the ring connectors, it was a snap to hook up to my system.

Decent charger
This is inexpensive charger that works OK and it will trickle charge your battery and also will serve as a normal charger. The charger does work OK and I would recommend it if you are looking for one. I found few cons with it. First is the printed manual. The manual is written on a card 1x1 inch and in the 1 point font. I could not read it even with glasses and had to resort to magnifying glass. Second con are the clamps. The are kind of wimpy and don't hold well. You need to pay attention how you clamp the leads and also pull them a little after you clamp to make sure they do not come off. The charger I got was returned, because the wires were not factory wrapped. Someone clearly wrapped them by hand. Except for the motorcycle wire, that was OK. I am not taking off stars for that since the charger worked fine. I charged both batteries in my cars and it worked OK. It took couple of days to charge brand new battery but it did work. This is expected since it is only 1A charger. Another con is the writing on the charger, like 5 year old wrote it - twinkle? What does twinkle mean? Couldn't they use "blinking"? The yellow light is very dim and kind of greenish yellow. Red light you can see from far away, but yellow is so dim that you need to look directly into the charger to see it. The charger is microprocessor controlled and it does not put out any voltage when not connected to a battery. At first I thought I got defective charger, after putting multimeter on it. But after connecting charger to a battery, I could see voltage go up. My unit does not put out current to specifications. The manual specifies 1A+/- 0.4A. My charger puts out 0.94A which is outside its spec. The charger is very light and wires are not super long. You most likely will need extension cord to power it, unless you have an outlet right in front of the car. Other than that charger is OK. Does its job without any issues and certainly not expensive. I would definitely go with it over battery tender which is much more expensive just because of the name.

New purchase but satisfied
Recently purchased, so no real feedback available on function just yet. Unit was packed well and appeared to be functioning normally when plugged in and connected to battery. Appreciate the different options available for connecting to end devices.

Very straight forward application and works fast.
This had my car battery back in top shape in less than an hour. Super easy to use and it's really small form factor, so easy storage.

Hasty Old Man Says, It Might Work Afterall. :) UPD 01-16-254
I bought this charger to use as a trickle charge for my old pickup. I've had a parasitic draw which kept bringing my battery down if I did not start and run the vehicle every few days, it would go dead. Of course after I ordered the charger, I finally found the cause. (it is the instrument cluster for you fellow GMC owners). I took out the fuse so save the battery until I can get the cluster rebuilt. Put this charger on it and nothing. The green light came on, but no status indicator for charging, etc. Well, being a little hasty, I of course blamed the product and ordered a replacement. Then thought, perhaps the battery, although new, had gotten down low enough so that this small trickle charger would not bring it up. I jump started the truck and let it run for 15 minutes or so, then, for grins, I tried the charger again. Low and behold the charging indicator light came on this time, along with the green power light, so perhaps that was the problem, vs. a defective unit. I will update after a day or two should everything work as planned and the battery come up to a full charge. I suspect that it will. For the time being, I only gave four stars until the mystery is solved. I could have waited, but wanted others to not make my same mistake. The battery probably can not be too low to accept the charge of this unit. It is meant to provide a small trickle charge and not operate like a normal larger charging unit. Someone who knows more about automotive electronics can probably explain better, but hopefully this helps some one. I guess I"ll probably keep the replacement unit and use it on my little pop-up camper. I need one for that anyway. Next time, I'll try and not be quite so hasty. :) UPDATE 01-16-24 Confirmed that the battery was just too low to take a charge or to have the charger indicate that it was charging, either one or the other. After running the truck for a few minutes, the charger indicated that it was providing a charge and after a couple days, the indicator is showing a full charge. My apologies for the initial hasty response. I have let the seller know that they can charge me for the replacement and I'll use it on my pop-up camper battery. I've needed one for that for a while anyway. So in summary, the charger works as it should and I need not be so hasty. LOL Have a great day everyone.
