VTech Tummy Time Discovery Pillow

I was a bit hesitant about this product, but it's been a solid purchase. I got this product when my daughter was 3 months, when she needed more tummy time. I'll be honest, at 3 months, this didn't make a difference for her, she still hated tummy time with this giraffe pillow and other pillows. We eventually got her used to tummy time on thick blankets and on our mattress. Around 4 months old, she was spending more time on her tummy and we tried to extend the time with this item and she enjoyed randomly pressing the piano keys and listening to the jingles. She liked the sensory fabric feet of the giraffe. She is now 5 months old and she thoroughly enjoys playing with the tags, crinkle ears and face of the giraffe, as we have removed the piano and other detachable toys (they are on her walker and play gym now). She glows at the smiley face of the giraffe and she doesn't do this with any of her other toys. This happened over time, so if your child doesn't "bond" or enjoy the product right away, don't give up on it. Re-introduce it again a little down the line. Pros: Sensory fabric on the feet, crinkle ears and random tags really get the attention of a baby. My child will pick at these for a good 15-20 minutes, which is a good amount for tummy time. Soft, yet firm filling, which has held up the firmness for 2 months now. Piano, rattle and toy are detachable. This is good if your child has a tough time holding her head up and you don't want her crashing into the hard plastics. Although, you should place the child so her head is over the pillow and only her hands can reach the toys. That said, some babies learn to kick and push off their feet early, so it's good to be able to detach these toys. I have hung the toys with toy clips on her walker and play gym. Machine washable* - I have washed the giraffe pillow (not the plastic toys) about 4 times now. It's not advertised as machine washable, but I was willing to take the risk in order to sanitize her pillow. The giraffe has stood the wash relatively well. The color hasn't faded and after the rinse cycle, it comes out very well. It's not dripping or feeling soaked. I hang dry it for a day (usually over night) and it's completely dry to the touch. The only mishap from the machine wash was the musical note plush tail detached from the giraffe. I'm assuming it got tangled with some swaddle blankets and twisted off during the numerous cycles. That said, the giraffe now has an actual tail of strings, which doesn't look so bad (see photo). If you insist on machine washing, either avoid washing it with clothes and blankets that can wrap around the tail and pull it off, as that seems to be the only weak point to worry about or throw the giraffe into a washing machine mesh bag and wash it like that, the mesh bag will protect it. Cons: Honestly, none that I can think of. It does what it is supposed to do and more. I'm very happy with the purchase.

We used this pillow to help prop our baby up and work on building muscles. She loved it and really enjoyed tummy time. It’s a little narrow in the legs, but it worked well for us overall.

This adorable, colorful toy made a huge difference in tummy time for our little one! Before getting this toy, tummy time was a miserable experience for all involved and would only last a few moments before screaming ensued. I bought this, hoping it would help keep our little one on his tummy for longer than 11 seconds and it did the trick!!! He loves the little toys, music and sounds and this has helped him enjoy tummy time. He’s building the necessary skills for crawling and enjoys playing on his tummy now. I will definitely be buying this as a gift for future baby showers! So glad I found this!

I stole the baby's Boppy and went online to buy another but came across this toy... so glad I bought it. It's half the size of a boppy (imagined it similar in size). She is 3 months old and started grabbing toys and showing interest in lights at most 2 weeks ago. I used this toy for tummy time. She was absorbed and lost in it for close to an hour until she became over stimulates and cried. It was great she had a good nap and it genuinely stimulated her mind and body better than anything I've come across EVER! FANTASTIC TOY, WONDERFUL GIFT ITEM!

My baby loves the colors and lights on the buttons, they are easy to push for baby’s learning how to move their limbs, I thought the pillow would be a little bigger but however it’s still a great toy. I actually put it around my baby’s belly and it supports her a little than she plays with the toys.

Bought for my granddaughter for Christmas! Was definitely worth the $!

Update: I have now used this product with two babies and they have both enjoyed it. After the baby grows out of the main toy they continue to play a lot with the electronic portion. It's even a handy little toy to take with you in the car, etc. The giraffe is easily washed in a laundry bag on a delicate cycle and still is in great condition. We have gotten so much use out of this toy and I highly recommend it. I usually try to steer away from electronic toys with flashing lights and sounds but this is the only one like that they play with and they love it. This helps our baby feel comfortable as well as entertained during tummy time. They have gotten stronger from using it and are interested in the pillow and the other toys, not just the electronic one. This would make a very useful gift, especially for a first time mommy, because it makes tummy time a pleasant experience for both baby and mommy. Once the baby is mastering tummy time they should still love playing with this toy for a while.

I’ve used this little giraffe for both of my babies. It’s cute and grabs their attention with all of the bright colors and textures and functionalities. It’s soft but sturdy to aid with tummy time. The music and sounds are clear. I believe this helped both of my kids in their development
