Amazon Essentials Men's Breathable Ribbed Knit Briefs with Elasticized Waistband, Multipacks

Updated review: I still think very highly of these briefs. Some further insights: Amazon sent the wrong size. I ordered Large. A prominent label on the package said Large. But the small print on the package and the product's tagless label say Medium. The briefs shrank very slightly after washing - maybe 0.5 inch (1.3 cm). That made them a bit tight on my 38 inch waist. I looked at the garment and package more closely and realized they are size Medium. So I returned them - yes - you can return them. Please wash them first! I am now evaluating the Large and XL to see which fits me best. These briefs are really well designed. They are the widest I've found in the crotch and they have plenty of room to provide comfortable support in the crotch. SIZE CHART EXPLAINER: It is telling you the unstretched waist size of the garment. For Extra Large it says 34". If you lay the garment flat on a table and measure the width of the garment it is 17". Double that to get the total width of the garment - 34 inches. The fabric stretches! So XL will fit a person with a 38" waist with a small amount of fabric stretching. I find this gives very comfortable fit and very good support in the crotch. If you prefer more stretch to give a tighter / snugger fit AND SUPPORT then consider the Large (31" in the Size Chart). The Medium (28" in Size Chart) will also fit a 38" waist but a bit too tightly at least for my preference. I highly recommend these briefs. If this review is helpful please give it a vote to let me know. Original review without edits: These are excellent briefs. The fact they are reasonably priced is just a great added plus. Completely ignore the Size Chart and order your regular size. I have a 38 inch waist. According to the size chart I would need a XXXL that does not exist. I ordered my normal size Large. It fits well. The fabric stretches some when putting it on and the fit is comfortably snug. The garment width at the narrowest point in the crotch is slightly more than 5 inches, which is a lot more than other brands I tried. This give a very comfortable "pouch" and great support. I suppose IF it shrinks a lot with wearing it might become too tight; if that happens I will update this review. I have heard from others that if one needs to wear an incontinence pad it works very well with these briefs. Not surprising. The fabric is soft and comfortable. The brief sits at the natural waist. I suppose if you prefer a looser fit or less support then order one size larger than you typically need. Very highly recommended.

I was pleased to find the all black set in stock. I've purchased these briefs before but only had the mixed set (gray, dark gray, black). All have been fine although I prefer black. These are the best fitting, most comfortable material blend and best lasting briefs I have ever owned. I gave up years ago on other brands (Fruit-of-the-Loom, Gildan, Hanes, etc). The black set I just purchased are all in great shape. Other reviewers who had waist bands separating must have received a defective set. These are just like the ones I last bought in 2018 and the ones from 2018 are still in fine shape; just wanted some fresh black ones to supplement what I have. Some of my new ones have now been worn more than once and they seem just as well made. Of course I only wear each for one day before washing, so each have been washed many times over several years and have retained shape and elasticity. I like the weight of these (i.e. not too thin for me!). I don't wear briefs for warmth; just to keep junk in place and provide a comfort layer between pants and skin. Size large are perfect for me (5'11", ~190lbs). The crotch holds stuff secure without being tight and the flap is wide enough to use the urinal without struggling (some other brands need to provide a shoe horn to be even close to functional). The leg holes are also good so as not to cut into the crotch or roll up your cheek. The fit overall is smooth without bunching so never a problem with any type of pants or shorts. I'm average size so I'm sure others will likewise find these great fitting as well as a great value. Simply put, buy these and don't worry; she'll agree. Thanks Amazon for coming to the rescue of guys forever searching for a comfortable pair of briefs. Please keep making these just in case I need more even though that may be years from now.

I just received this underwear. Only time will tell how well they hold-up (usually the elastic is what goes first) but here are my initial impressions: 1) Quality of construction is good. Seams are straight and no loose threads 2) Fabric appears to be high quality and is very comfortable 3) Nice looking without being too fussy 4) Great value: 7 pairs for $18 I would have given them 5 stars except for all the brain damage about sizing. If you read the reviews and questions you will see a lot of complaints about this. First of all, the statement under Fit says "True to size. Order usual size". However, if you look at the Size Chart you will see that the sizes are definitely non-standard. For example, I have a 32" waist and a Medium consistently fits me with other underwear brands (if you look at the size charts for other leading brands for sale on Amazon like Hanes, Jockey, and Fruit of the Loom you will see that their Mediums all fit 32"-34" waists). However the size chart for this product indicates Medium fits a 28" waist and suggests I would wear either a Large (31" waist) or an Extra Large (34"). I ended up ordering Large and thought that the fit was fine but perhaps a little big. However the underwear did shrink somewhat during laundering so ended up just perfect. You will see comments that are all-over-the-map about fit. It seems to me ridiculous that Amazon has let this confusion go on for so long (the oldest reviews are several years old). I think they should conform their sizes to industry standards and maybe pay attention to quality control to get their sizing consistent. Despite the above, I recommend this underwear as long as you can figure out the right size.

These are quite good for the money. I wanted multiple pairs of athletic gray, and all the other brands came with mixed colors. So far these fit great, wash beautifully. Very pleased.

As the headline says, sometimes you don't really know what you've been missing until you try something better. I needed new underwear, and my wife suggested I check out the Essentials brand. I was reading reviews, and someone mentioned something about other briefs being made "for little boys." I believe they said that these had a wider band of material between the leg openings at the bottom - I didn't really understand what that meant, but most of the reviews were good, so I decided to give them a try. A lot of people were saying to go up a size, but I found that to not be true for me - maybe it mostly works for larger guys. The chart says a Large is good for a 31" waist. I usually wear jeans with a 32-33" waste and the XL were way too big. We sent them back and got Large, and they were a perfect fit. Getting back to the "little boys" comment - yes, these briefs have a larger piece of material between the leg openings at the bottom from other brands I've purchased my ENTIRE life. I never realized that was a "problem" until I tried on a pair with a larger patch of material (these). Like I said, I never knew what I was missing. At first, it felt kinda odd (because it was a different fit from the previous 40-something years) but after a very short while, I began to appreciate that extra bit of material - I can't really explain it - just know that it feels better. As someone else has mentioned recently, after I'd had these briefs for probably 5-6 months, the "ink" that is the tag started to peel - they became unwearable at that time - but I just flipped them inside out, and problem solved. My wife thought that was a bit odd, but honestly, no one else sees them, and they fit & feel exactly the same either way. So, while I'd rather that not happen, even knowing I might have to start wearing them inside out after several months, I would still purchase these again. Very good product - give them a shot! (if you can still get them)

quality good, fit is Snug

I ordered these and am very happy with my purchase. They are of equal quality to the big name brands. I like my underwear on the snug side. My advice is to ignore the others who say they run small and their advice is to order up a size. I found the size chart to be accurate after having ordered and returned the recommended larger size.

Bought these underwear in a 7 pack in light gray color. Extremely comfortable and very happy with the waistband and fit. Hopefully these briefs will be durable as well. First batch just went through the Easter and dryer and look and fit as good as when they came out of the package. No noticeable shrinkage.

I have loyally bought "Name" brand briefs for many years but they went down the "increasing price, decreasing quality" path. I gave these a try and I like them - good quality ,a comfortable fit, and great value. if they stand the test of time, I would rate them as equal to any, better than most.
