Good book
The book came intact without scratches, but it was a little dirty. I would buy it again when I need it.

Good comprehensive book on Information Security
Good comprehensive book on Information Security. Can be wordy at teams but I've learned a ton with this book as supplemental to my Info Sec class.

College Course Book
The book itself is in outstanding condition. Way cheaper than what they want for it on campus. The book goes into great detail and covers a wide range of different security risks, procedures, references, etc. Although, it does go into good details on some topics, others it seems to "breeze" through and, for someone who is not savvy with the topic, will not grasp all of the information.

Very good book
Very didactic and with ease and simplicity of reading and support of resources

Good presentation of concepts, many review questions and problems are not covered in the text.
I have used this textbook for a couple of courses and it seems as if there is information missing in each chapter. Some of the review questions and problems are all but impossible to do using this textbook alone. It might be that this textbook is a good companion book to be used with prior security knowledge, or in addition to a more comprehensive textbook.

Don't waste your money. Find a different resource
Unless you're already steeped in the cyber security field, (possibly not needing this book) it would best to look elsewhere! And possibly even if you're already steeped in the field, which I'm not, you probably can still find a much better book for learning.I find the book poorly written (like basic sentence structure, etc.), confusingly annotated, and even the very thin glossy paper makes it difficult to read. Further, each chapter is choppily presented, starting briefly with few basic concepts. But before those are truly explained, it veers into highly complicated mathematical ones.and a seeming insider's academically competitive view of who discovered what, leaving even the essential understandings "in the dust."BUT MY BIGGEST GRIPE is the price, which comes with time-consuming, ultra-frustrating hoops and unannounced limitations through which Pearson puts their customers to try to obtain what they promise for learning from their stuff.Required for a law course on my end, I was told not to buy used, but to spend the more than $140 (incl. taxes) to buy new, with the access codes bound in, giving access to online Power Points and Q&A's which supposedly make understanding easier. I have spent over 4 hours now trying to get their very messily printed, unworkable "access codes" to work, have talked to their customer support in the Phillipines and have jumped through their hoops for over an hour, etc. and still can't get into the Pearson online "premium site".Upon my first call to customer support,, I got to a man who seemed to take over my screen, with the page scrolling without my touching the computer (creepy!) When I asked him about that he hung up on me.The second customer support person was nice, but very difficult to understand. In the end - more than another hour later - after dutifully doing what she said, I was told I couldn't use the Firefox browser, and needed to download Google Chrome, (and I could not use an iPad) to make their website work - which is NOT PRE-NOTIFIED anywhwere before buying! However, I have seen some of their supplementary online materials/Power Points, as used in class, and they too are very poorly done, with the confusion made worse with ridiculously chosen, often unrelated "cheesy" clip art.And while trying to register to their online site, I read the Pearson "Privacy Policy", which I find unacceptable. It's all bent toward increasing Pearson sales and marketing, their info gathering, and seemingly trying to protect their very mediocre stuff as if it were gold.I am a person highly comfortable in normal computer use, comfortable with everyday mathematics, and with understandings of the densest of law books.Pearson Education Publishing, at least with this book, falls very short in the very basics - professional editing for ease of understanding, professional printing, and providing what they promise for learning. They have much work to do to make this system workable, which they've not done.At the very least, if you really want this book, don't waste your money buying new.
