Q: how does everyone say this is the right adapter?..my FR-300 has the middle pin negative...this charger looks like it is reversed..

I have two Eton Model FR-300 radios and this adapter works just fine. I have used this for many months. I cannot speak for any other models. I would ask Eton directly.

I suggest trying Wilson Eledtronics--they have almost everything for radios including cell phone connectors.

The original ETON Adapter Part Number GPU3504 was: 4.5 volts with the center pin being negative with a maximum current of 100 milliamps (0.1 amps). The 3.6 volt battery pack is three 1.2 volt Nickel-Metal-Hydride batteries in series. Nickel-Metal-Hydride batteries are very sensitive to being charged. The charging voltage for each cell must be between 1.2 and 1.6 volts. Therefore the maximum charging voltage for the battery pack is 4.8 volts. The manual says; IMPORTANT NOTE: If using an AC adapter rated higher than 200 milliamps, unplug the internal rechargeable battery to avoid damaging it. Later manuals had a Notice that the embossed 5 volts on the radio was wrong and should have been 4.5 volts!
