Rotors get way too hot and pads don’t completely fit.
Although this is a really nice looking set of brakes, they do severely lack in performance as well as fit.The discs get extremely hot when in use and I know that’s normal for discs to get hot but these get literally red hot, glowing red around the edge and the main factor for this is the bad fit of the brakes. The pads don’t sit fully on the disc with around 1/4 of the pad not making contact, this has caused the first set of pads to be ripped from the plate and the second set make quite a lot of noise with the material catching on the outer part that doesn’t make contact under braking. In terms of braking power, they have plenty of power and grab well but the heat and bad fit makes them pretty ineffective on long descents. I do have a long downhill section just by my house and by the time I’m at the bottom of it; my brakes are almost unable to slow the bike with the levers completely down to the handle grips. At this point the pads are glowing bright red and throwing off chunks of material. I’ve never known anything like it to be honest, I’ve had several pairs of hydraulic brakes and none of them have ever gotten to the point of glowing even on fast steep rides. I’ve also never had a metal pad destroyed completely. In my opinion these are dangerous, the most important safety measure on a bike and not something that should be cheaped out on for this reason.I’m completely unhappy with them if I’m honest; but as things stand, I don’t have an alternative set of brakes to put on the bike in the meantime.Value for money - Non existentThey don’t leak but the fluid does boil easily inside. They are easy to use but not very good if they overheat far too quickly.
