QUALITY & EFFICIENT
Toilet seats are not something you have to replace very often, but if you do have to, it's nice to be able to get some suggestions and recomendations since it's probably the only time you'll ever have to do it. It was very well documented on how to install it and it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I recommend this particular product becaise it does exactly what is says it is, Kohler is a top quality product and I have several of their other products like kitchen and bathroom faucets and a low flow toilet and it pays to get something that you know will last a very long time. Its shape of elongated is pretty much standard, the the actual seat is very different that what I had before. The basic style is just a rounded seat and that's it, this one is contoured to fit your anatomy, so I'll leave it at that. The soft close is an absolute necessity in my opinion for both the seat and cover, I always close it completely when not in use and anyone that comes to my home knows that and knows to do the same.

Sturdy seat with soft-close feature for seat and lid!
This is a review for the KOHLER 4636-RL-0 Cachet ReadyLatch Elongated Toilet Seat. The Good: Everything. The Bad: The instructions. The Ugly: Seriously, the instructions. The Kohler ReadyLatch toilet seat is a really nice piece of work. It features a slow, soft-closing lid and seat as well. The material is plastic, but it has a good thickness and feels very firm under me when I sit down. I'm 6'2" and 280lbs currently, and there's not even any flex from the seat as I sit down. *Very* sturdy, indeed. The color is a basic white, just like the porcelain on most toilets, so it matches just fine. I have to give props to their packaging. Before you even open the package, it shows you the measurements and warns you to double check and make sure it'll fit on your toilet (and that you didn't order the wrong shape for your toilet!). That being said, the only downside was the instructions - there really wasn't much of any. I've taken off and put on a lot of toilet seats in my time, and they're all pretty straight forward - pop the tab on the top, grab the nut on the underside, use a screw driver to unscrew the plastic bolt from the nut, repeat on the other side, and job's halfway done. Reverse it to install. No problem, right? Wrong! This Kohler had a rubber encased wing nut with a tube that flared out at the end into a flat donut. What...the...okay! Let's check instructions...uhhh...nope...okay, *sigh* let's ask the Internet. Bingo. After hunting around the first couple search results, I found a gentleman installing one - on YouTube. I had to sit through five minutes of someone talking about their toilet and the seat, how their seat had a crack in it, etc etc etc, until suddenly he shows me the secret! FOLD THE WINGNUT SIDEWAYS AGAINST THE TUBE, SLIP IT DOWN THROUGH THE BOLT HOLE ON THE TOILET!!! After that, the install was very simple and straight forward. Position the toilet seat over the two bolt holes (now with a rubber tube installed and a wing nut hanging down on the other side) and install the two bolts that come with the lid. Final Thoughts: I've been using it now for a bit, and I have to say - it's different from my other lids, but I really like the design, fit and the angle of it. It's comfortable, but not "sit on the pot and watch funny cat videos" comfortable. Overall, I'd say it's competitively priced, and well worth the money.

Excellent quality and incredibly easy to install
This toilet seat was absurdly easy to install — it took just a few minutes and everything fit perfectly. The overall quality is excellent, and the finish looks and feels very premium. It feels sturdy, well-made, and the soft-close mechanism works great. If I had known it was this good, I would have bought it much sooner.

Very expensive but fits 16.50 round toilet bowls as it should
I tried three toilet seats for my round bowl toilet that measured was 16.50. Two seats were short by almost 1/3 inch. Made in Chine super cheap cost and plastic sent back. This was the only toilet seat that fit and that I can call quality. It’s heavier plastic and feels like a toilet seat. There are no instructions and it mounts different from any toilet seat I have had before. You can go to YouTube for instructions. In this day and age I feel it’s outrageous to charge $50 dollars for a toilet seat. However this plastic one can be cleaned but my wood seat sift close could not because of the paint finish. If your seat measure 16.50 for round this one will actually fit.

TOP NOTCH! WORTH EVERY PENNY.
Ok Guys! This toilet seat is EVERYTHING! It was sooooo easy to install, took 5mn. The seat itself is very comfortable to sit on and both lids stay up which is important for the gentlemen when they have to do their business, no holding the seat up while using. Both lids soft close and I am so pleased with this purchase! Plus it lifts out for cleaning. This is a must buy if you are looking for a great toilet seat...NO MORE SLAMMING & MY CAT APPROVES! THANK YOU KOHLER!

Who knew a slow-close toilet seat could make such a difference?
I *love* this toilet seat for many reasons: 1. It doesn’t shift around like my old slow-close did. 2. When I sit on the lid, it doesn’t collapse like my old slow did, because it’s a hard plastic 3. The seat is comfortable because it’s actually shaped like your bum, unlike my old flat seat was. It’s ‘dished’, and although the opening is bigger, it’s *more comfortable*! 4. It’s absolutely *silent* when it closes! The only con? It’s not slow in the other direction; it bangs on the toilet tank lid. I can live with that, but I would suggest to the makers of this product it would be a great improvement. My old slow-close did slowly lean back onto the tank. I got one for each toilet in the house (two) during Prime Days, for 47% off, so almost two for the price of one!

Fits very old Persuade toilet with catch
I have one of the original model Persuade toilets - model K-6355-0. I wrote Kohler and asked which toilet seat to purchase for the toilet. They said purchase model K-30780-0 which costs $88. I then searched Amazon and found the Persuade toilet and found that people were instead purchasing toilet seat model 4636-RL-0 which costs $37. I purchased the latter. It fits just fine and I'm happy with it. There's one catch. If your toilet has the old brass fastener receivers embedded in the porcelain that the seat screws into, you MAY need to remove them in order to use the new fasteners that the new seat comes with. The new fasteners are completely different which means the new seat fastener bolts won't screw into the old brass receivers (bolts are of a different diameter). HOWEVER, it may be possible to use the new seat with the old bolts and old receivers...I didn't verify if this is possible because one of my brass receivers was spinning free... That's not a good situation as it meant I was forced to install new fasteners. If you have to remove the old brass fasteners, you will have to uninstall the bottom of the toilet from the floor and flip it over. What I did was grasp the bottom of the fastener with pliers and wiggled the metal (it's very pliable) until it broke. Then, squeeze the remaining metal into a bundle so that it could be pushed through to the top side and be removed. It's more work than I wanted to do but I was forced to do it. The good news is that as a result, the customer can now use the lower cost new model Kohler toilet seats if there's breaks in the future again. The fasteners that the new ones come with are flexible silicone (clever...never seen that) and hence are easy to remove from the top if ever necessary which means no need to remove the bottom portion of the toilet in the future. If you decide to try this seat with your Persuade toilet, you'll need to see if the old brass bolt is smaller than the hole in the toilet seat and of the correct length (sorry I didn't check this). If it's not, then this seat won't work for you unless you flip the toilet over and do all that ⬆️. If you don't want to take the risk, find the model seat that comes with the old brass fasteners. If you're toilet has the newer silicon fasteners, this is all moot.

Kohler quality going downhill.
Bought this to replace a 12-year old toilet seat that had cracked. Exact same model number as the original but this one is much lower quality. Wobbly and warped. Unfortunately, due to unique color, this seat was my only option. Not expecting it to last long. Kohler quality going downhill.

Best suited replacement seat for a discontinued toilet bowl. Sleek to look at.

Fits Portrait well But not Perfectly
Good Elongated Seat. Fits the old Kohler Portrait Toilet pan well. But the Kohler Lustra Elongated is a better shape fit to the Portrait Toilet - although arguably this is a better toilet seat. I have two Kohler Portrait Toilets and bought one of these and one Lustra Toilet Seat (the Lustra is twice the price). I won’t change this Cachet toilet seat for the moment as it’s acceptable. But next time I’ll pay the extra for the Lustra toilet seat. Even though this one is a slightly better product.
