Okay, lets get this over with. YES it does smell! But is it a smell worth sending the paper back and never buy again? No. Air it out a little bit, thats all you need to do. These designs are just beautiful! I love looking at them and it almost seems a shame to fold them! I can't wait to make such beautiful butterflies and other designs with it! It is the beautiful design on one side, and then a bright solid color on the back side which really adds to the design when you are doing one that uses both sides of the paper! The paper is a good quality. Really the only downside at all is the smell and I believe just a little airing out is all thats required if its to much for you to handle, personally the smell doesn't bother me all that much. Also, coming inside the paper is a little folded paper that comes with 7 origami instructions: Simple Swan, Star Box, Crane, Balloon, Samurai Helmet, and Kimono. They are easy to follow and simple to fold!

I worked at a middle school and now I currently work at a FiveBelow store, I like making cranes as my fidget when I'm not terribly busy and people of all ages enjoy taking my cranes home with them. I loved the texture, I found that the folds could be very crisp if I got it just right. It's also a great paper for learning a new fold since both sides are different! A great value, I'm ready for a new pattern for my next 500 or so sheets but I will definitely get this one again too!

I lurve this paper. At first I worried that the color of this new folding treasure was muted. However, as I proceeded on my, fold a 1000 crane, journey, I appreciate the matte finish, of some papers, adds to the beauty of my piece. The end product is really beautiful. Finding it hard to return to my other papers. Texture is nice. Its got that rice paper or semi- tissue paper feel to it. I have ripped mine on one occasion. I also, sometimes have little holes appearing on the spine of my cranes. I think the tares maybe be related to my learning than the paper texture, though. There may be a tinge of cheapness to them. However, the beauty of the end product more than makes up for this.

This review is specifically for Tuttle's 500 sheets of kaleidoscope pattern 6 inch origami paper. Pros: excellent weight, strength, texture, printed on one side, solid color on the other, all sheets are 6 by 6 and are square. The sheets are not glossy or too thick like the paper that is often in the origami 365 day calendars. Cons: The paper has a "paper mill" smell. I can smell it if I hold a completed model about 3 inches from my nose. The odor does not come off on your hands and fortunately it is not too bad. I've been folding origami for over 50 years and this is terrific paper to fold. It makes crisp clean folds, the dye does not come off. I made several traditional cranes with this paper, they had crisp pointed heads and tails that held their shape because the paper is the right weight and texture for origami. I like it so much that I've ordered another pack.

Double-sided paper (solid color on one side and pattern on the other). Many attractive prints and some so-so. Price is incredibly reasonable so good to use as paper to practice designs on. Paper is not as crisp as most origami papers. There’s “almost” a newsprint texture to this paper (although no color transfers to your hands). Still, it makes it less enjoyable to work with for extended periods of time. The designs are cute for boxes, cranes, and an assortment of projects.

Honestly, I love that this huge pack of beautifully patterned papers is loose-leaf and not bound on one end where you have to peel off a sheet at a time. This keeps all the edges clean and crisp. Paper quality is good - I like that the surface is matte and not glossy. The color doesn't seem to scrape off with folding either. Great variety of patterns, and each sheet has a solid color on the other side for great duo-color models.

Very cool patterns! I’m a fan of the fact that they are symmetrical in all direction including rotationally. I don’t find the smell of the paper overpowering or anything like that. It does smell like ink, but it is printed paper. What are you gonna do? Good price point and very good color. Would buy again soon if I wasn’t almost certainly set for the next year

My library students made origami corner bookmarks. They were fascinated with the designs.

Great quality paper with beautifully vibrant patterns and colours. Will definitely buy more of this brand again. Worth every penny.

Good for orgami and paper craft

I bought this to make 100 origami flowers. Took me ages but it was worth it... it looks beautiful!!! Patterns are gorgeous and folds really easily, and amazing for the price. The colours in the other side were vibrant too, and the flowers I was making used both sides so that was so useful. Really really really happy with it!!!
