Compare these to 8X30 and 10X50 Steiner Military Marine models
I have had a pair of the Steiner 8X30 Military Marine for years and love them, they are terrific, lightweight, compact and sharp in daylight but the small objectives are not ideal for night time or astronomy viewing, you will get some ghostly halos from bright objects in the night. But if you are planning on hiking or biking with binocs then you should probably choose the compact version over these 7X50 full size ones which are twice as big and heavy.I purchased both the 7X50 and the 10X50 to compare primarily for quick viewing of the night sky in conjunction with our telescope.I chose to keep the 7X50 and returned the 10X50. There are good reasons why 7X50 is the marine standard. The 10X magnification does not make much difference, the 7X seemed noticeably clearer and is much easier to hold steady which is more important to good viewing than the magnification. The image is super sharp and bright from edge to edge of the view, IMHO it really could not be appreciably better at any price point. Unless you're going into combat or the most brutal conditions these are as good as you will ever need.We now keep these full size binocs in our RV for our general primary and astronomical use and the compact 8X30 under the seat in our towed car for our mobile expeditions. The best of all viewing worlds!

Outstanding Binoculars with really clear glass and great field of view.
I wanted a better pair of binoculars than the old Bushnell's that I've had for awhile. Decided to get the Steiner 7x50 Military Marine model seeing as they were the civilian version of the tried and true military issued ones. The binoculars are large but do not disappoint. Right away, I could tell they were of quality and heavy duty. The glass is extremely clear, and each of the lenses can be focused to the the individual users eyesight.Great binoculars and would highly recommend. If you were prior service, it also adds a good bit of nostalgia.

All they are supposed to be
I had a pair of Tasco Offshore 7x50 which have to be 20 years old. Dropped them on the eyepiece and could no longer focus one eye.I always wanted a pair of Steiner since I tried them.....so now in need of replacement, it was time. These 7x50 literally BLOWN the old Tascos away! Sure the Tasco were old, but well cared for..until dropped. These Steiner are so crisp and clear and built like a tank.Worth every penny!

Incredible vision at 250+ yards!
These Steiner binos are just Amazing! I wonder why did I cheat myself all these years! Now I finally can see clear as a bell at 300 yards. Even at 400 yards on negative 2.I returned the 200 dollar big name binos I bought last weekend in town. I found these Steiner binos were just 50 dollars more. What a deal! I thought I was going to have to pay $1,200.00 to see like this. Not me! Thanks Amazon & Steiner! Got them in 3 days too!

Crystal Clear, sharp image
These optics are perfect for boating. The image is crystal clear sharp no prism effect. When I compared the side-by-side image with my 25 year old binoculars, it was amazing how much I’ve been missing out on.

Why the great reviews? Huge disappointment.
I have many pair of binoculars ranging from cheap 40 dollar discount store Binoculars to top of the line Fujinons and everything in-between. The daytime views as expected were pretty good, not the best but not the worst either, about what I would expect a German Optic in this price range. The huge problem is at dawn, dusk and Night. I expect a 7x50 Binocular to shine in this area and that is where this Binocular failed miserably. When a light source wasn't in the view they performed ok, not great, not poor but average for a 7x50 binocular. Now if you looked at a street light, any source of brighter light a huge flaw raised it's ugly head. Reflections abundant, halo's, flaring, blooming were abundant. turned to the moon and while the moon was clear it was surrounded by reflections that were just as bright as the moon that looked like two thick parenthesis that would move around the moon or light source as the you moved the Binoculars back and forth, up and down making viewing anything problematic at best. Did some research on line and it seems as if this is a common issue with all Steiner Binoculars. Why all the good reviews with this known issue? Cheap 40 dollar binoculars don't have this issue on the level these have and it's never seen in better quality binoculars. I guess I can keep them in the car and use the Steiners as a wheel chock to prevent the car from rolling when changing a tire but as a well rounded 7x50 Binoculars they fail and fail badly. I debating whether to keep them for when people ask my recommendation I can show people what not to invest in or just send them back. German optics should be a whole lot better than these, the only time I saw night time flaws this bad in a pair of Binoculars was with a pair of very old Galilean Binoculars my grandfather had from the early 1900's. I don't understand the good reviews, the Binoculars I received didn't have some rare factory defect, the design is just bad. Pick any Binocular at any cost and they most likely will preform better at night even a 40 dollar pair would. If you're looking for an inexpensive boating binocular I would go with any other 7x50 waterproof/fog proof binocular Entry level Chinese sourced Fujinon or Nikon 7x50 for 200 dollar or less. If your safety depends on a binocular on land or sea I would look to Fujinon's Made in Japan Polaris line of Binoculars about 650 dollars plus, they're about as good as it gets.
