Good light source
Good light source, I use this during hurricane season and for outdoor stuff. There are multiple ways to charge it: battery, USB, wall plug, and solar - which is very useful in a power outage.I would have given 5 stars if there was a lens shield to block light from one direction so it doesn't shine in your eyes.

Bright for a few minutes then fades fast
Very bright about 10min then fade quickly no matter charging time

AA Rechargeables Work Too
I have owned this lantern for several months and have found it to be reliable. This lantern also has an extra bonus: You can charge AA rechargeables in the base of this lantern. They and the internal rechargeable battery are wired in parallel so the voltage of the internal battery, the solar panel, and the batteries you put into it will try to equalize. This is good if the internal battery is topped off and you want to very slowly trickle charge some NiCads or NiMh batteries with the solar panel. Likewise, you probably want to take partly depleted non rechargeable batteries out when charging a depleted internal battery, because they would hinder the charge progress.

Very lightweight, and rechargeable
Very light, and conveniently fits inside of my backpacking cook set, saving valuable pack space. Love that it's rechargeable. Variable brightness is a great feature. Not sure yet how durable it is yet. It does not have the magnetic base that the one sold on TV does, but that would make it heavier. The newer LEDs are much more efficient, meaning it will last longer on one charge. I'm glad I have it.

Super little lamp!
I ordered this lamp when we had power outages in Northern California. It was absolutely great time have - especially because it has back up batteries in addition to being able to use solar power to charge it. I also liked that we could use it to charge our phone, although by the time it arrived we had generator power, so didn't manage/need to use that feature.

Honest review: Fire Hazard! Destroyed in under 5 minutes of opening package.
The media could not be loaded. Ultra Bright Camping Lantern with Rechargeable Batteries, Water Resistant - maxin Portable LED Solar Collapsible Camping Lantern Flashlights Torch for Outdoor Fire HazardFirst, as another reviewer said, definitely do NOT use the AC plug that comes with this product. The lantern states it is for 220V circuits (not what is used in the United States). Also, do not use the USB port since that is also a fire hazard (view video or read below). As a matter of fact, I would strongly suggest that you do not keep this product anywhere in/near your house.Second, let me say that I am not a dummy. I am a skeptical shopper who knows that sometimes junk is sold on Amazon and I was not expecting much from this. I bought this solely because it is a $10 lantern. IF the solar charger or USB charger worked, that would have been nice to experiment with, but I was not actually expecting either to work.I received this lantern in the mail today, threw away the AC cord (do NOT use) and tried it out. The light came on immediately when I opened the top of the lantern and it was very bright. That was nice. I then pulled out my USB tester and tested out the lantern's USB output. The tester--which will display immediately when plugged into a powered USB port--remained blank. The lantern did not come with any instructions, but I assumed it would need more sunlight than I was getting from the window to actually power the port. I hooked it up to a spare/junk phone I had sitting around, took it outside in bright sunlight and noticed an electrical smell. When I looked down, there was smoke pouring out of the lantern's USB port. I disconnected my tester and phone and placed the lantern in a safe place away from the house until the smoking stopped (about 5 minutes). I wish I had grabbed my camera sooner so that I could have recorded the smoke, but you will just have to take my word for it.Conclusion: The lamp is bright, but that is the only nice thing I can say about it, but I would definitely not ever bring this item in or near my house again. The AC in plug is clearly not made for the US electrical grid, and the USB output is downright dangerous. I imagine the solar lamp charger (not the USB charger) portion of it works since the lamp was lit out of the box with no AA batteries in the bottom, but I did not get to verify since it did not last that long. Within 5 minutes of opening the box the lantern was already dead and smoking. Please stay far away from this product.

Better use just as a light
The USB charging port for charging devices DOES NOT workI added 3 AAA battery’s thinking that the battery’s cowered the phoneIt said to charge it the first 6 hours BECAUSE of the description on amazon, right as I plugged the cord in and tried to charged it it gave off sparksI unplugged items stuck it into the latern and so sparksIt came with no instructionsBut the light is very strongI’m a little bit skeptical of how it’s a solar power with out solar powered battery’sBut instead takes regular battery’s but I mainly bought this for the light

I really dislike it when I will be asked to rate something ...
I normally don't do reviews until I have had a product for quite some time. I really dislike it when I will be asked to rate something when it hasn't even been delivered to my door . . . . . Anyway, I had a previous purchase of 4 of these from almost a year now and I absolutely endorse them. I even went to the point of ordering and have received 5 more! All you have to do is put them on the window sill so that the sun will catch it daily and BAM! Instant lighting which is 360 degrees and it is BRIGHT! You never have to worry about batteries and they are always topped up until you need one. I sat up last night for 4 hours reading by it when the power went out. This is by far one of the best products I have bought over the years!

Handy for any emergency kit and variety of other situations.
We ordered three of these to take to a third world country where power outages are frequent. Over the years we have brought numerous crank flashlights (which tend to be overcranked and break easily), and battery-powered flashlights (which aren't very useful in places where batteries are difficult to buy). So we have been searching for many years for the "perfect lights" to bring to the remote village that needs something reliable during lengthy power outages.. So far we are impressed with the quality of this product. The lanterns arrived much more quickly than expected, and they came fully charged and are very bright. Since they can be recharged three ways - using solar power (the best method for our specific needs), wall plug, or 3 AA batteries, they will serve our friends very well, and would be handy to have in any emergency kit, camping gear or even in a carry-on while travelling. Although we haven't had time to test out how long they will stay bright after one full charge, we're sure that our friends will be very happy to have these.

Buen producto

BROKE WITHIN 5 MINUTES
This was delivered less than half an hour ago. First all, the instructions were very uninformative. I see no way to switch between solar, batteries, and the built in battery, so I have no idea how it knows which to use. The bulb seems bright enough (it came charged), but also said to charge for six hours before use, so I attempted to plug in the (very short) electrical plug. It required moderate pressure to do, and that was enough to push the receptacle inside the housing. When I screwed open the top, two bits of plastic (that had been holding the receptacle in place I assume) fell out, and then the USB port fell out! It BROKE within FIVE MINUTES! It’s cheaply made, not durable at all. I'm afraid to plug it in now because I'm afraid I might be electrocuted (the can is metal). This is my third junk product ordered through Amazon's third party retailer program. I thought $20 was cheap, now I know why. DON’T BUY THIS.

Power bank never worked
It might be a good lantern but I bought it also for the power bank feature and when I tried using that it said on my phone check charger connection and I know it's not a problem with my cord as I have been able to charge my phone with it before ended up having to return item unfortunately
