Great book, but font too small
We are planning a trip to Italy next year and wanted to learn some basic phrases. I listen to a podcast, but also am a visual learner, so seeing the words helps reinforce what I learned while listing to the podcast in my car. The only negative about this book is that the font is very small. I don't normally wear glasses, but have to put on my readers in order to make out the words clearly.

Not really that helpful to me

Nice book for your trip.
This book has a lot of the vocabulary you'll need for a trip. The price is remarkably inexpensive and the book's size makes it easy to take along. A few updates would make it so much better. First, larger print. Yes, I'm old and I've been reading the book at night without glasses, but larger type might only add a few pages and would be worth paying for. Then, remove the section about faxes and replace with where to find a wifi hotspot. Also change Lira to Euros. Second, the contents need to be updated for today's world. Instead of how to send a fax, how about where to find a wifi hotspot? Several other items could be updated or even eliminated, like where to get film developed. Who does that anymore?

Gives you what you need
I am planning a trip to Italy later this year, and wanted something that would give me the basics to get around - this booklet will do that. Not a lot of frills, you may need to get a basic CD if you have difficulty sounding out words from the phonetics (although this book does a good job of explaining them). If you jump in and just read, you will likely retain very little, but if you pick it up and just try to learn a few then put it down, with repetition, you will be able to do ok. Also, with the booklet being so handy to carry, you can also refer to it quickly in whatever situation you find yourself in, as it is easily indexed for reference. I am happy to have purchased this book!

Easy to carry
This book contains the essentials. It is divided into categories so you can locate the phrases quickly. It will not make you an expert but was perfectly adequate for my 16 day vacation trip to Italy.
