Excellent Sound, … Disappointing Remote and Custom Controls… But Great Sound!
What great sound! This Sony sound bar is quite impressive when paired with my Sony tv. The set up was a snap as I used hdmi 3 on my tv, the arc connection. Next I paired it using -blue tooth- with my phone for music. I listen to Amazon music and use an I phone. I mention the I phone as the Sony OS is android (google tv) and some might think Apple users could have issues, not so in my case. Furthermore, I do not use any of the google settings on the Sony platform and instead run my tv through a Roku 4k stick, and great wifi, which is how the sound-bar operates as well. If you have a Sony tv, the integration will be automatic and work well. I did have some disappointment in the remote that came with the sound bar. Not much customization possible and even digging deep into the audio settings and sound field options on the tv there still was no way to increase or decrease treble, very minimal bass control, and no equalizer at all. Having said all of that, I am still loving my purchase and very, very pleased with the sound from both the hdmi connection and the bluetooth on my new sound bar. The remote is very basic, but works. I ended up putting an app on my phone as the little light on the front of the bar was on bright all the time. I knew there had to be a setting- it is called dimmer, and for some reason the remote that comes with the sound bar is missing that setting! The app I put on my phone is available using a QR code on the quick set up paper, it is called “Home Entertainment” and has the dimmer setting buried within the settings options. I also found other remotes from Sony that had the dimmer button included and have ordered a cpl to try. I am not wanting to grab my phone and open an app each time I watch tv- and the light will come back on (I turned it completely off) if you power off your equipment - I said power off, not turn off. Turning off the tv and bar leaves them in a ready state and they pop right back on… Powering off is what I do each night at the surge protector, or if I am to be away for the day.Overall this is a finely tuned piece of sound equipment that can more than stand alone as a tv bar, or bluetooth music streamer. The sound will surprise most, with NO satellite speakers of any kind needed. It is possible to add on, but for me this sound bar is very impressive and provides much better sound than the tv alone while giving me an option to bluetooth any number of music options from phone, tablet, or Alexa device. The bass is good, the depth of sound is very good and I plan to use it daily. You will fall in love with the sound as I have, and this price for “Sony sound” is an excellent bargain in my opinion… PS, if you ever carried a Walkman, you know exactly what I mean! Update: I did purchase a compatible remote w/ the “dimmer “ control, worked immediately- the light now stays off, have not had to change the setting since… purchased right here for a very low price, I actually ordered two different models to try and they both worked! Love my Sony sound!

Itworks OK on my very old Sony TV without ACR - I now hear voice over music on TV shows and movies
I use this on my very old Sony 52 inch TV and it does what I need it to do. It is more for the later TV's with ARC and a center channel connection but it does work to allow the dialog over the stupid loud music on all of the new TV shows.I have to connect with the optical cable along with a HDMI cable. Very wasy no brainer installation.I like it and I am happy with it.

A solid choice.
This sound bar is on the low end of Sony's offerings but does an adequate job for the price and size. Bar is well constructed and easy to set up. Bass sounds good without a sub but if you're a person into home theater a Sony wireless sub may be a worthwhile addition to round out the bottom end. Sound stage and overall volume are adequate for small spaces like a bedroom. Would definitely recommend. Mine is attached to a 42" Sony OLED TV.

Meh
It works fine and easily connected to my Sony TV, BUT it sounds the same as my TV, no better. I guess if you have a cheap TV with bad sound it might help, but then again you could just put the cost of this soundbar towards a better TV and avoid the extra component.

Excellent Soundbar!!
Had purchased a new Sony Bravia 50" 2024 model. My old LG soundbar would not interface consistently. It had a wireless subwoofer that I had turned down to zero (no sound). So, I was on a search for a new soundbar. I wanted just the soundbar with no separate subwoofer. I don’t need a blasting bass that you can feel. I just wanted clear, crisp, high quality sound for TV, steaming movies, and music. I was also looking for the smallest soundbar possible, particularly in depth. My old LG was very thin but in my research I found in current times, thin soundbars don’t exist anymore. Tried several soundbars. Some were the exact same price and some were more while others were less. My trials included Sonos, Yamaha, Bose also the Bose 600, Vizio, JBL, Samsung and others. Some of these had apps that were very problematic and some of the apps wouldn’t even work on my brand new top of the line Samsung cell phone. For an elderly, I am pretty tech savvy with these types of electronics so I knew what I was doing with every set-up I tried. 12 soundbars later I decided to try the Sony HT-S2000, in spite of some of the negative reviews that I was concerned about. I wish the depth of it was smaller and it didn’t weigh as much as it does. Other than that it is perfect in every way. Clear, crisp, fantastic sound with plenty of bass, across all platforms, and a very easy set up. This is an excelent soundbar that produces very high quality sound. Very happy with this purchase!

Worked Great, then Quit...and some other minor issues
My initial review would have been 5 starts as it was easy to connect and sounded much better than the tv's native speakers. However, it quit working about 6 months in and despite much trouble shooting, it is still not working. So now it is just a dust collector. Also, mounting or placement flexibility is very limited. Depending on the height of your TV's legs, and if you're using them rather than a wall mount, and the tv sits a bit higher than your level line of site (ours is on top of a dresser which is about 5'6" tall, the speaker, even though only about 2" high, may impede your ability to see the bottom of the screen. Consequently we placed it behind the tv which is fine for sound, but then the remote has difficulty communicating with the speaker.

Needs the subwoofer
Without the subwoofer, it try’s to prioritize the bass through the mids on the sound bar. I don’t think it’s designed for that. It gives it a muffled effect. I purchase the subwoofer after the fact and it clears and crips the sound quality and pushed the bass through the woofer and all the speakers are working in perfect harmony. Has fine tuning for bass once you add the woofer too. Without subwoofer it just offers min mid max. Use the app to play with advanced settings. Sound bar has great sound quality and paired well with a Sony bravia tv via hdmi arc port. Enjoy the voice mode for watching tv.
