– Bard Bluetooth Internet Radio with DAB+, 100W 2.1 Speakers

Providing you have a (small amount), of technical knowledge, e.g. you how how to input a WIFI password, this is very easy to set up! There is the option to press the WPS button on your router, but as that wasn't near where the radio was situated, I inputted the password. Once you've got it connected, it's easy to work everything else out. The user manual is also very clear. I'm impressed by the quality of such a small music system. It produces good, clear sound, the graphic equaliser allows to to alter the sound to suit your requirements. The DAB radio works well with the antenna The favourites/presets are easy to set and use. It's not worth bothering with the podcast feature!... It only stores the current episode of the podcast you're listening to, and does not allow you to subscribe to a series. You can easily listen to podcasts on the radio by streaming from your mobile phone via Bluetooth. The Bluetooth works well. I listen to audiobooks and music from my mobile. I haven't used the Spotify or USB features. The screen is clear and easy to read. I think this is excellent value for money 😊

Majority Bard review The moment I saw the Majority Bard I was struck by its sleek design and the way the interface looked on the front panel. The Bard looks powerful and the whole unit oozes quality. It looks very modern and will sit comfortably in any home. I just had to purchase the unit straight away, I was sure it was perfect for me. My expectations were - good quality sound with ease of use and many features. Those expectations were surpassed with awesome sound and a host of features that are really easy to use. I do listen to lots of classical music as well as pop and vintage music which are kept on an Ipod and my phone as well as a USB stick - now I just use the one machine to listen to all of them. The other major thing I listen to on a daily basis is the radio and with over 25000 stations globally to listen to, it did not take long for me to fill the favourites list. It was simplicity itself to find all my favourite stations like Radio 3, 4, Classic fm, Smooth Radio, Jazz and all my local stations. They were all in the prescanned list so I only had to save them. The DAB radio and fm radio seem to have an endless list of stations and as yet I have not found a station that hisses or drops out. As you would expect the sound is amazing on both DAB and Fm. The quality of the sound is superb with a powerful bass which enhances the sound experience. Instruments like the cello sound wonderful, deep and rich. There is an equaliser so one can adapt the sound to a preferred taste. Once you download Spotify which is easy – it can be used as a remote control to listen to music and podcasts which run smoothly without buffering problems. I also downloaded the UNDOK app which you use as a remote control for the unit on your phone. Both apps work really well. It did not take long for me to explore the podcasts. I loved immersing myself into stories and lectures to relax. The Bluetooth function works seamlessly with my phone and Ipodcreating a truly immersive sound experience for me. Setup was easy and the unit comes with a quickstart guide to help if you need it, you can also download the full manual from the internet if you need to but I have not done that yet because everything was so easy and intuitive. Overall I would say this is a fabulous purchase, well worth the money. I have not found one thing to criticise yet and do not expect to either, recommended with 5 stars.

I was attracted to the Majority Bard as I already have several other Majority audio products in the house and have been impressed by their price/performance ratio, exceeding anything that's available in Currys/Argos at comparable prices. When I received and unpacked my Bard media system, I was first of all impressed with how well packaged it was, and with the quality and tactile feel of the remote control; similar to that of my Denon hi-fi system. I had a quick look through the Instruction Manual, however I often like to figure out tech on my own before consulting the book. Firstly, I set up my home Wi-fi network with the Bard which was quick and easy using the WPS button on the side of my router. Within around two minutes of unboxing, I had the unit up and running; eager to start looking for exotic radio stations utilising its internet radio feature. Having found several radio stations with a minute or so that I enjoyed in Spain some years ago, I was immediately impressed with the '100w stereo sound' as stated on the specs - the stereo speakers and top-mounted subwoofer may be quite small in size, but thanks to the amp they pack a very sturdy punch. The placement on the sides of the unit may frustrate some audiophiles, however this size of stereo system is more intended for ambient/party/kitchen/bedroom listening in my opinion, and it will do an excellent job of that - it is more than loud enough to be heard at the other end of the house when at 3/4 volume on my bedside table. As mentioned, the unit has access to the thousands of internet radio stations across the globe and tons of DAB+ radio stations in the UK, which can be easily searched either on the unit or via the excellent UNDOK smartphone app, which grants slick remote access to the vast majority of the units feature. I already have some of my favourite stations stored in the 40-strong 'Preset' list for each radio type! I also utilise the Spotify Connect feature regularly, which was previously only something I could use with my home assistant speaker, which sounds nowhere as good as the Bard. Spoilt for choice with connectivity, I also tried out the bluetooth and aux-in features which work flawlessly as expected. I've yet to try the USB function but I'd expect it to work well, going by how good the interface is and how well the UNDOK app works for selecting tracks, radio stations and sources. Since I am using the system in my bedroom at the moment, I did try the Dual Alarm function out of curiosity and thanks to the auto-updating clock, it woke me up with my radio station of choice exactly when I needed it to, though it did take me a while to switch it off in the darkness of a 6am rise.. I'm sure this will not be an issue once I become more familiar with the button placement. In summary, I'm extremely happy with my Majority Bard; it's small but mighty.. small in dimensions but mighty in features and sound. There's definitely a place for one in every home!

I am very happy with the build quality and the sound from this device. I had considered other devices around 100 to 150 and this was the only one with 10W. I am glad I got that, as 10W is not even that loud, but it is just loud enough to hear in the next room when you are moving about. A lesser wattage would have been much less useful I think. The firmware for the menus could be a little slicker, but this is customary it seems with digital radios and audio equipment and the like. It would be handy to have a back button for the menus (which may exist but I have not found it). It is not huge, but also not tiny. It has a wide base so is very stable. This is the first Majority product I have bought and not disappointed. When buying consider where you want to put your internet radio -- if it is going to sit at eye level on a table beside your armchair or on a shelf you need front facing display as this is. The pick up is faultless no matter where in the world I have tried.

We live in an area so remote, we can't FM, let alone DAB, so wanted an internet radio that sounded good and was simple to use, this ticks both those boxes. Set up is a little involved but once done its easy to use, switch it on and it opens the last station listened to, which just starts playing after a moment. The sound is perfectly balanced out of the box, 'round,' warm, great for music and speech, without any distortion (I haven't turned it right up). Two changes I'd make; it's quite heavy and could do with a carry handle and I'd move the on/off button to the front, other than that it's perfect

Had the Majority Bard for over 10 days now and it is a great piece of technology - also own a Willingham unit in my living room and I was after a smaller player for the home office, so glad I went for the Bard. At first impression it's very compact and the design is fairly sleek, so sits well with furniture in every room, but it really packs a lot of functionality in such a small box. It takes very little to setup, just plugged it into the mains and connected it to the home wifi (I used the wps button on my router so no need for passwords) and with the setup wizard process the Bard was ready to play internet radio stations and Spotify from any device, which was one of the primary uses for me. I also tweaked the equaliser factory settings as I felt the audio was a bit tinny out of the box and found a setup I’m happy with any audio source. Was not sure about how powerful the unit would be at that size, but the 100W and internal subwoofer really pack a punch - tried with different songs ranging from classical music to The Queens of Stone age and different equaliser settings for rock/jazz etc. The Bard is very easy to use, the onscreen interface is very legible and intuitive to navigate, with the key audio sources (Spotify, DAB, FM, Internet radio) presented first. Took me a minute or so to find the device settings, but that's just me not reading instructions. The front "wheel" device allows to move quickly between menus and once again it becomes very intuitive to use very quick. The remote that comes in the box has all the functionality mapped and a central wheel to navigate menus and control playback. Spotify connect is a joy to use, the wife loves it and is asking why all the other devices in the house don't work that way... The Bard is immediately recognised in the list of playback devices from any Spotify instance running on the same wifi network (laptops/phones/tablets) and shows the image of the album and song information on the little 2'4'' TFT screen. Bluetooth synchs well (not my primary use) and the DAB+ radio is crystal clear and picks up all national and local (London) radio stations. If you feel adventurous, internet radio and Podcasts allow to access thousands of stations and podcast channels from all over the world, but I would not know where to start with that as I mostly subscribe to some of the BBC ones, which are available by default. The unit has a standard USB port at the back for MP3 playback from external drives (FAT16/32 128Gb max). Finally the Bard has a dual alarm functionality that allows to choose whether to use one a standard buzzer sounds or a specific radio station to wake you up. Useful on Saturday mornings if you want to wake up to the news.

This was the fourth DAB radio I bought, the previous three all being defective and this was the one that worked. A bittersweet victory honestly, since this one has Internet radio with tens of thousands of stations to pick from at a higher bitrate than DAB, rendering it completely pointless. But through an objective lens, it's a really nice radio both in terms of looks and features. The included remote control I thought I'd never use turned out to be more useful than I thought. The sound quality is good, maybe not as good as I was expecting for the size but it definitely beats out the entry level Echo speakers. My only real complaints are ones it's not really responsible for, as I wanted it to double as a bedside clock and as mentioned, I'd returned several defective bedside radio clocks already and was fast running out of appropriate devices. So for anyone looking to buy one of these and hoping it will be suitable beside the bed... It CAN work but there are some caveats. For starters, there is no automatic display brightness adjustment, just three brightness levels to select from and even the lowest setting is still too bright, I had to apply an adhesive filter over it to bring the brightness down further. Next, the text showing the time on the display is absolutely tiny unless the device is in standby (where it takes up the whole display), the problem there is if you have the radio playing while you sleep or use it as an alarm, it's hard to see what the time is because your eyes will still be blurry when waking. And lastly, none of the buttons are backlit or anything and they're all the same size and flush with the front of the device, meaning you'll be fumbling around in the dark trying to find the right ones. But it was never advertised as a bedside radio so it's hard to hold these shortcomings against it. One thing to note though, while it has Bluetooth and a 3.5mm audio port, these are input only! You can't connect it to another set of speakers or headphones. And again, they don't advertise these features anyway so I wasn't expecting it, but it could have been a real easy way to make the unit more versatile, like being able to use it in your HiFi setup since it isn't portable and will likely be kept in one place anyway. If you're just looking for a Bluetooth speaker that can also function as a fantastic radio but don't want a smart device spying on you 24/7, this is probably going to satisfy 99% of people as long as they don't make any assumptions about its capabilities and do their research.
