Psst! Want to know more than your broker does?
The credibility of the author is indisputable in terms of expertise and experience. The work reads like an encyclopedia, but breaks away from that format with great anecdotes, historical perspective and contemporary context.A gifted writer as well as an intellectual titan in the field, Larry Harris - well I wish I was smart enough to take him to lunch and pick his brain. If you really want to understand the value and potential profits found in market micro-structure, there are fewer books more informative, and I am sure Mr. Harris has read them all.Psst... Want to know more than your broker? Get the book, but only if you are intent on being a serious professional making gobs and gobs of money in short amounts of time. Otherwise, why would you work your way through this data type? The Lone Comic TM

Most helpful trading book I have read
The author does not lay out a trading plan but he does give the blueprint if the reader uses his/her imagination. It's the kind of book one should read and then meditate on. In fact, they should ponder the material after each section. The insights that are shared would take the rest of us years and years of real world experience to gleam. Here, Harris presents it to us on a golden platter, if we take a few moments to digest and review what he's shared. It should get your mind racing with possibilities. Couldn't ask for more, except perhaps for an updated edition.

The must book to begin with...
Excellent book that covers market microstructure and trading practices at length. The writing style is very clear, and the book uses most of the jargons one would normally come across in the field of trading and quantitative analysis. A perfect concept builder for the novice as well as the experienced. A true value bomb for every guy aspiring to enter or excel in the field!

Must Have!
This book is simply a must have for anyone who is interested in Stocks, Futures, Option, FX etc. If someone tells me that they want to know more about the exchanges, I recommend them to read this book first becuase after reading, everything becomes much more clearer. I wish I had known about this book when I started trading.

Best book on the topic? Probably!
This should be required reading for anybody with a 401(k). The author gives a very clear picture (most of the time) of exactly how transactions arise and get processed. This book will definitely help you invest and/or trade more wisely. I learned of this book through Perry Mehrling, who also is quite brilliant concerning money markets.

A reasonable well put together text for an MBA class
This text is a reasonably well put together text for any Finance based MBA class. It's not going to keep your interest in its current format, which could be called 'bland' at best. The content is quite good, so a reformatting of the text book should help if it happens in the future.

Very details
If you want a book that explains in minute detail the process of a trade occurring this it great. Its a hard read with a lot of detail and is not an entertaining story but a very precise explanation of the process of trading order flow.
