Imagine OG Anita Blake, but confident, self assured, and willing to kick butt.
The book came in a few days after they saod it would, but the book itself was in great condition, despite being taller than the rest of the books in the set. That, however, was my bad, I should have looked at the description better. This book is a wonderful addition to the series. The series itself is amazing if you like Anita Blake when she still killed the monsters instead of dating every single one of them. Rylee is a strong, independent woman, and while she is willing to accept help when she needs it, she doesn't need it often. It's refreshing to read a story like this without sex on every other page. There's actual story, progression, and character growth. If you like a strong female lead not obsessed with finding a man, but rather focused on her job of finding children in danger and saving the day, this is the series for you!

Great characters, great story, great series, too short!
As the third installment to the series, I have to say that I'm completely hooked. Rylee is a kick butt heroine and the entire cast of characters are fun to read. The mystery is not only entertaining but unique and the overaching plot simply pulls you into wanting more. These books are fairly short, this one again being under 180 pages, but as I mentioned in my previous review, the pages are not wasted. There's plenty of development, action and drama and I'd take a read like this any day over pages of descriptions, angst, and inner dialogue. For those of you who haven't read the first two, this is not a place to start. The book does not waste time reintroducing characters and summarizing previous books. The series picks up after the events of Immune and starts with Rylee's world in utter turmoil. I don't want to give spoilers but to say, Rylee immediately has to deal with much loss and betrayal. Liam O'Shea has run off, her best friend Milly is not what she seems to be and the FBI Arcane Division needs Rylee's help to track down missing children in London. Rylee doesn't think she can handle the emotions she'll have to deal with tracking them down but the FBI's ace in the hole is that they will bring her to meet another Tracker like herself. Unfortunately, this tracker is dying and Rylee has a small window of opportunity. Overall, she's completely stunned to learn she's not the only one of her kind, so she accepts the job and finds herself up against some very powerful adversaries from both sides of the pond. These stories are pretty much non stop and action packed. Interestingly enough, since the location turns to London, I couldn't help but notice that Riley said "bloody" and "bugger" quite a bit and it seemed a little off since she's American. Aside from that, most of the characters are back, but some in limited and heart wrenching capacity. In addition to harpies, trolls, demons, vampires, daywalkers, ogres, witches, and werewolves, we can now add druids, necromancers and zombies to the fold. One of my favorite characters takes a back seat in this installment which led to my slight disappointment, but great new characters are also introduced. The mystery of the blue socks is also revealed. While the book unfolds two major plot threads, only one is brought to it's conclusion and the other is to be continued. The only thing I can say is, I won't complain as long as this author keeps writing these books as fast as she does. It's a fantastic series and I'm looking forward to future installments and a much desired reunion.

Just hold on to your pants...one heck of a ride!
This is a lengthy review. If you need a quick review, skip to the TLDR down at the bottom!Another ass-kicking from Shannon Mayer!! Holy crap, can this chick write a good story! Rylee Adamson is quickly becoming my #1 favorite heroine! She's tough as nails on the outside, has a heart of gold on the inside, and all SORTS of complicated in between! She's multi-dimensional, and is so relatable to women - whether they like supernatural fiction or not. I'm like a 7 year old boy seeing my favorite superhero for the first time!! If you haven't read the first two Rylee Adamson novels, stop reading this, and go one-click those suckers! (Because if you haven't, you're about to learn a few things about 'em...read: SPOILER ALERT - but only for the first two books)! This particular Rylee novel is like Criminal Minds meets Supernatural! It opens up the world of the supernatural universe even more, and what I like best is that Rylee matures emotionally as her stories evolves. She works hard like all "grown-ups" have to, but she has been through some rough stuff - for example, her younger sister was kidnapped while under her care, and because of this, her s***ty adopted parents blame her and kick her out at 15 (younger sister was her adopted-adoptive?-parents only biological child conceived after they adopted Rylee, of course). We learn through the first two books that her mentor, Giselle, took her and her best friend, Milly (who is a powerful witch), under her care to teach them the inner workings of the supernatural world. Giselle is her mentor. Milly and Rylee consider each other sisters, but something dark is going on with Milly. And now Giselle is quickly losing the battle for her lucidity - among other things (like her blue socks - thank you, Shannon Mayer, for resolving the meaning of that in this book!!!! I LOVED IT!) Oh, and our dutiful FBI agent-turned-alpha wolf, O'Shea is in danger, as well. Poor Rylee...why is her life so filled with loss??? I will let you know if I find out in "Shadowed Threads", Book Four in the extremely well-written Rylee Adamson Series!! At least she still has Eve (her Harpy), and Alex (her submissive werewolf)!Happy Reading!TLDR: Great book! Quickly becoming one of my top FIVE favorite heroines! She matriculates emotionally throughout every novel. She kicks butt and saves the day by the smallest of margins - plus there's a hottie FBI agent who tags along!Recommended age: New or Young Adult (17-ish & Older-ish).Adult situations - sexual encounters.Language - ALL of it, from A-hole to F-bombs.Violence - LOTS of "blood & guts" in this one (ONE WORD: ZOMBIES!!).

Great Read!
Love this series & totally loved this book. Back with Rylee for her third adventure & these books just keep getting better! Funny (mostly Alex & Rylee's sarcasm), sad in parts (had me crying at one stage!), & very exciting. Most of Rylee's friends are back & we meet some new ones. Lots of action as usual & has totally got our UK weather down to a tee. A must read for urban fantasy fans, but read book 1 & 2 first, to get the full effect of this excellent series!

Misery and loss throughout :(
I was so excited to read this book, but the absolute misery of it has put me off the Rylee books for a while. Too much sadness, loss, upset and negative energy and emotion has spoilt this awesome series for me.Action sequences are great and additional characters are also a welcome addition.I think I'm going to have a breather from this series and read something fun instead!

Great addition!
I like this series so much!Rylee kicks arse!Alex has really started growing on me again.O'Shea... *sigh* I would have liked to see more of him but I understand that he's going through a lot mentally and Milly isn't bloody helping!Looking forward to the next book to see what Rylee is going to do to get O'Shea back in her life after him going AWOL.

Solid, well balanced UF
One star docked for some minor but dumb errors (a lorry is a truck not a car, how do you fire a crossbow 3 times without reloading etc) but the story has pace and humour, and Rylee and her companions are appealing, and well enough written to make me care what happens to them....and Rylee's pottymouth is almost worth that fifth star back again.

Raising Innocence (a Rylee Adamson novel 3)
Exciting fast paced events with lots of twists and surprises and double dealing. Once you start reading you don't want to stop, you don't have to read the series as can be read as stand alone books but they are better reading as a series. Looking forward to the next
