My hoses and pump assembly arrived in an umsealed bag with the open end folded over and closed with a piece of tape is this how they are shipped ?

Yes, they are folded and taped. However the tape doesn't hold very well to the plastic bag

Question 2

Whatever the capacity of the volume that can be filtered, can the filters be cleaned and reused? Can replacement filters be purchased?

The filter used in the AquaBrick Water Purification System is called the DuraFlo Filter. Replacement filters can be purchased. We are temporarily out of stock on the DuraFlo Filters due to the Covid-19 outbreak, but should have more in the next 3-4 weeks. The filters cannot be cleaned and / or reused. One DuraFlo will purify up to 700 gallons for bacteria, cryptosporidium, giardia, protozoan, 550 gallons for virus and 500 gallons of swimming pool water. It is a really powerful purifier.

What is the micron rating or equivalent log rating of this Sagan Aquabrick? Thank you

Micron size does not apply to Sagan Life purifiers. Micron size is typically associated with mechanical filtration media, such as ceramic and carbon block filters. These types of filters are made so water can pass through, but the actual pore size or micron size is smaller than the size of some protozoa and other organisms - so they are physically blocked.

Which is why Sagan Life purifiers use Nano Fiber Technology. The filtration media used in our purifiers is made of nano alumina glass fibers, woven together in thousands of layers. THIS MAZE OF FIBERS MAKES THE PATH IMPOSSIBLE FOR DANGEROUS ORGANISMS TO PASS THROUGH. Additionally, the media is electro positively charged, so that any negatively charged matter, such as E.Coli, parasites and heavy metals are trapped and cannot pass through.

What is the shelf life of an unopened DuroFlo filter? ...and once used how long do the remain effective?

Hello - depending on storage conditions the Duraflo should last for 3 - 5 years. The filter media will last for many years, however the glue used in assembly will most likely only last 3 to 5. Same holds true for effectiveness once used. We recommend storing in relatively cool, dry conditions avoiding excess heat.
