Flourish Iron is a highly concentrated (10,000 mg/L) ferrous iron gluconate supplement. Plants are able to much more easily derive a benefit from Flourish Iron because ferrous iron gluconate is already in the ferrous form so they do not expend energy reducing it. Despite what other manufacturers may intimate, gluconate is not harmful to plants or fish. In fact, ferrous gluconate is better suited to foliar feeding than is iron-EDTA owing to the relatively weaker iron-gluconate bonding vs. iron-EDTA bonding. This is especially useful for my desertcart sword and deep-red sword plants. They were showing yellow spots on some leaves. After dosing as recommended and cutting off the old leaves, I have not seem new and existing leaves from turning yellow. I bought some red plants (Alternanthera Lilacina, Nesaea Crassicaulis, and Rotala Macrandra) as well, so far they are surviving much better than my experience before. I know there are cheaper options available, such as mixing it yourself with chelated iron powder, but this is definitely much convenient. My brother bought this too, but using the recommended dosage, the water gets cloudy though.
