Don't buy...Fletchers is not interested in making a good product...only hyping it.
We used this mill for a short time, when it jammed permanently, like the grinding mechanism stopped working or slipped somehow, and we couldn't use the peppermill. Contacted Fletchers Mill, who was extremely unhelpful...they said we jammed it .. really? c'mon, how hard is it to use a pepper mill! only after we asked for the name and address of the president of their company, did they offer to take a look at the mill for us -- but "we" would have to pay for shipping. the mill looks beautiful, for sure, but the mechanics of it are not durable. we're so disappointed. suggest you save your money and use either the disposable mills or go for a less expensive one. just because Fletchers charges more, it really doesn't mean it's better...it's not. by the way, still waiting for Fletchers to give us the name of their president... SAD!

Looks great, but faulty mechanism
I used this the first day I received it. It worked great first time, but when I used it again the next day I wasn’t able to really get any ground pepper, save for a dash.I shook it and hit it gently against my hand to try and get the peppercorns to settle into the teeth (hoping that maybe they just got stuck), however it helped for about one turn giving me large pieces only, and then basically nothing. It simply felt like it just wasn’t getting any peppercorns in the actual grinder part. I did everything I could think of. This isn’t my first pepper mill, so I do know how they are supposed to work. I have fought with this pepper mill for several days now. This was too much. It clearly had a defect of some sort. Two stars (I’m being generous) for exterior construction and look. Seems well made, but faulty mechanism. Had to return. As a side note: I really like products such as these that are made here in the U.S.A. This was probably just a fluke, but I wasn’t willing to take another chance for that price. Hope others have better luck!

I love this pepper mill
I love this pepper mill. I was tired of going through cheaper grinders and disposable ones that came with the peppercorns. I finally decided to splurge on this one. It had the best reviews online and the best reviews on Amazon. I have owned it for about six months now and my only complaint is that I am going through peppercorns much faster. After six months, the grinding blade is still going string and the adjustment nut is functioning perfectly. The amount of pepper that is generated per turn is perfect as well. The finish is still as nice as it was when I first received it.I would recommend this to anyone!

Pepper is way pepperier.
This is a weird thing to admit, but pepper tastes WAY pepperier with this thing. I've been using a crazy-cheap no-name pepper mill for the last... 12 years that was gifted to us for our wedding. It cracked pepper and that's about all it did. In my search for a better pepper mill as I got more comfortable with cooking I found the Fletchers mill. Mostly because I explicitly wanted one made in the USA.It's a quality piece and demands it's price. The grind-size is very consistent once set and doesn't drift. The grind mechanism is a burr-type that looks incredibly similar to my coffee grinder. I got the cherry finish and it looks really great. The capacity does seem a bit low to me; it seems as though it only holds a couple tablespoonfuls of peppercorns. I ordered the 8-inch version. Obviously a larger/taller grinder will hold more, so I'm not complaining here, just making an observation. What really surprises me is just how much more pronounced of a pepper flavor comes from a consistently and well-ground peppercorn. I've used it at very coarse settings for crusting steaks and very fine settings for sauces and it's worked incredibly well. It's much faster than expected, too. I can get enough ground pepper for my needs in probably 1/4 of the turns that I was accustomed to. Unless something catastrophically fails with this mill I can imagine that it'll be the only one I need for a very, very long time, if not ever.

Finally, a traditional looking pepper mill that works great too!
I have long searched for a superior pepper mill that has a more traditional look than my deeply loved Cole & Mason Derwent. Finally, I have found it! The Peugeot is a great pepper mill but would constantly turn the finial and change the setting from fine to coarse. Occasionally I would pop it off. Fletcher Mill has solved that problem. It's as advertised, once you set it, it stays on your chosen setting no matter how vigorously you grind. I bought the lovely red one and it is perfect in my old timey but colorful kitchen. I plan to get one for everyone I love. And if it matters to you, it is made in the good Ol' USA.

Function over Form
I finally had to admit that my handsome mid century mod Dansk peppermill wasn't offering me a choice of grinds and my antique Peugeout mill, while the grinding mechanism was still stable, was no longer properly functioning so it was time for a brand new mill. I wanted the same handsome mid mod mill that the Dansk offered but what I really needed was function and this Fletchers' mill delivers, 10-fold. It processes peppercorns very quickly in the grind of your choice, and there are many choices. I love that it is family-made and that I can support that while receiving it via Amazon Prime. I would still like a mill that doesn't scream 'Pepper Mill' in its form, but the function is more important to me here.
