PRESIDENT Maryland RW CB Radio Antenna

I put this on a small unibody truck with a stock cobra 29, LMR 400 and a good professional heavy duty mount. This antenna rocks for the size. I get almost as good reception as my 8 foot solid whip antenna. This antenna is way easier to drive with though. I don’t have to worry about hitting nearly as much with this antenna. AND, it isn’t as easily visible so people do t go looking into my car to see if they can steal a radio. As far as performance, with my professional quality coax cable, DC power filters and good professional wiring, I have talked to people in Puerto Rico, Pennsylvania, and as far west as Iowa and Nebraska from my east coast, southern State. People have reported my sound quality as “excellent” and “awesome”. I checked my antenna resonance and SWR on my favorite CB channel (32) and I have an SWR of 1.21: 1.0 and a perfect resonance peak around channel 19, which is the most popular channel for most mobile CB users. I could tune it, but honestly with results like that, why bother. I’m already pretty much maxed out on the potential for my cheap cobra 29. And this antenna helped me do that. I highly reccomend this antenna. ALSO- Do not use springs with this antenna. Springs screw up SWR terribly. They also defeat the entire purpose of the whip antenna in the first place.

Item came very well packaged. Be careful of the small grub screw when you remove the plastic as could be easy to lose. Works extremely well with President Walker CB and picks up distant signals. Works well when the skip is around. Very easy to adjust SWR. I have mine mounted on a trunk lip mount with a quick release and the SWR was pretty close to 1.0 across all channels out of the box. It can take freeway speeds easily, it bends back a bit but does not whip around. I’ve had good reports on transmit and seem to be getting good distances. I’ve tried a few different antenna’s and this is by far the best.

At first I did give this a bad review, I had a high swr with the antenna and I could put a 102 whip in the same set up and had good readings. I had it mounted on a Jeep between the tailgate and spare tire, which isn't the best location. I moved the antenna to the front fender and now it works great since it has a better ground plane. President McKinley radio and better location of the antenna I get a 1.0 swr. The 102 whip was more forgiving for the location it was in, but overall after moving the location I get as good now as I did with the longer antenna

President makes some good stuff. You always have to keep in mind there are limitations to any item. The antenna on a CB radio isn't any different.

The product performed well when brand new, but it is not weatherproof. Over the winter the antenna's SWR climbed to over 2.5 to 1 from 1 to 1. The SWR returned to being 1 to 1. after being stored in the house for a month to dry out.
