iStim Tens Unit Stimulator Machine - EV820 with 8 Electrodes Japanese Gel for Pain Management, Back Pain and Rehabilitation

Everyone should have a Tens Unit on hand even if they don’t need it all the time . My right arm from my shoulder to my hand would go numb and hurt with a dull ache . My Doctor said it was from a bone spur in my neck . He tried injections in my neck , but said that if that didn’t help that it would probably require surgery to remove the bone spur. I wasn’t about that “ the injections helped for about a week “. Then I remembered that I knew someone that had a tens unit so I asked to borrow there’s . After only using the unit a couple of times , I could feel a remarkable difference in how my arm and shoulder felt . It worked so effectively that my pain completely disappeared to the point where I might every so rarely have to use the device . My only recommendation is to purchase some extra electrode pads .

This is my first TENS machine to help with my muscle pains from work. For people not sure what this machines does Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation is a non-invasive method of controlling pain by using tiny electrical impulses sent through the skin to nerves to modify pain perception which reduce or eliminate pain sensation for a short period of time. It does not fix the actual physiological problem. This Unit comes with everything you need to get started: a control unit, a battery, 2 lead wires, 8 electrode pads, instruction manual, and a electrode placement guide. Just follow through the instruction manual the unit is not hard to use even if you have never used one before. I used it for a few days with just 10-15 min each session. I noticed a relieve in intensity of pain after the sessions. It usually lasted for a few hours before the pain came back. I assumed by using a longer session the pain relief will last longer. Also during the second session I used lotion on my arm right before I used the TENS unit and forgot to clean skin and the electrodes gel lost adhesiveness. Next day the electrodes still stayed on but not as good as before. So before you place electrodes on your body make sure to clean it first as directed.

After having used an expensive TENS unit ordered, at my request, by my doctor after a major surgical procedure in 2008, I was amazed at the amount of pain it controlled right from the start in the recovery room. I was given Toradol for the first two days. After that, I was able to use just Tramadol for a few days, and then alternated between Tylenol and Advil when needed for only about another week when I went home. I never needed serious pain medication, which I wanted to avoid. I DO have a high pain tolerance, which convinced my doctor to at least try the TENS unit. It was wonderful! I don't have chronic pain, but I do have the tendency to stress lower back muscles, shoulder and neck muscles, and occasionally my knee, which has had three ligament surgeries. I never thought a TENS unit was affordable until I saw one featured here on Amazon. I then researched all the units offered on Amazon, and the iStim EV-820 had the best overall reviews from customers using it for more serious issues than mine. I decided to try this unit. I used it for the first time last night on the left side of my neck and my left shoulder, which were tight and sore from lifting things I shouldn't have been lifting. I read the manual thoroughly, and having used a TENS unit, I knew that the increase in stimulation has to be gradual to get to the level I could tolerate. Everyone one is different and tolerates different levels of stimulation. The manual recommendations are not a be-all for every user. Since I had some experience with a TENS unit, I did not pre-set the unit to the recommended level, but after adhering the electrode pads in the recommended places (which I later adjusted with no difficulty), I turned the dial and dialed up slowly to get just enough stimulation to determine which mode I wanted to use. Once the mode I desired was selected, then I increased VERY slowly the stimulation. I felt that the instructions, complications, warnings, and placement diagrams were clear, precise, and thorough. Every technology has a learning curve, and it is the responsibility of the consumer to read very carefully and ask questions if not sure about how to use any TENS unit. It was perfect for my specific need last night. I went to bed ache-free and slept well after a 30 minute treatment, a break, and another 30 minute treatment. I am glad I decided to try this unit, and I feel confident that future use will result in reduced, less potent medication or medication-free pain relief.

After a very intense search and reading review after review I decided to go with istim. I have an auto immune disease that causes my joints to swell everyday and fibromyalgia that causes me pain everyday all day and I’ve been dealing with it for a few years now and medication isn’t working Like it used to Plus I hate taking because of the side effects... I have used tens units before and they provide me with some relief from the pain that I am always in, but they don’t last cause they crack or just stop working so I’m hoping this one does. I love how compact it is and the case it comes with to put away or easily take with you on the go! I actually purchased istim because I needed a portable tens unit that wouldn’t fall off or turn off on accident. It has a plastic clear protector so you don’t accidentally turn the dials up & the instructions are clear and easy to understand, the best part is the placement diagram they give you for all kinds of areas of the body with chronic pain which I thought was absolutely awesome! I just wish it wasn’t battery operated. If it was rechargeable like a cell phone I would have definitely rated 5 stars!! It has so many different settings (WARNING!!! just don’t try to turn the dial in the dark, it’s a doozy!!! LOL) you can set a timer or not have one at all...which I prefer when my pain is so bad I can’t even brush my hair or get dressed. I like that it also has a clip so you can clip it to your pants, especially yoga pants! 😂 **This is not a cure this is just a form of temporary relief for chronic pain and much better than damaging your liver with pain meds but I am in no way saying you shouldn’t follow your doctors orders 🤗

Helps my knee tremendously after patella surgery

So difficult to use and control it takes multiple tries to change the settings. If you change them while wearing be ready to get shocked seriously if you forget to turn down the rotating knobs the difference between styles etc is extreme. So you have more choices I.e. speed, intensity, and frequency/pattern but not easy to remember which setting is which and some of them start out at one intensity and automatically ramp up. I know it has an instruction manual however I don’t think you should need to read it each time you use the thing. I got one Belifu one and it is much easier and rechargeable the only plus for the istim is that it can get more intense than the easier one which is necessary for more painful areas.

This TENS UNIT seems to be a great one for the price especially. I opened it up last night, it was packaged nicely and it is simple to operate, try the different modes out. I hope it last me a long time. I highly recommend getting the Auvon 2x4 pads for maximum relief. They are on Amazon and they are $9.00.
