BARTON Leather NATO Style watch bands are custom fabricated from top grain leather and 316L surgical grade stainless. These straps have been designed to meet the highest standard of fashion, function and fit and we back it up with a full satisfaction . Buy multiple bands to compliment your wardrobe and swap in seconds. Selecting Width: Straps are available in 18mm, 20mm, 22mm and 24mm widths. To determine the proper width for your watch, use a metric ruler to measure the lug width (the point on the watch head where the band attaches). Lug widths for most common watches are also available from the online. Selecting and Adjusting Length: All widths (18mm, 20mm or 22mm) of our original 'Standard' length band measure approximately 10-inches in total length and fit wrists from 5 to 7 1/2 in circumference. All widths (20mm, 22mm and 24mm) of our 'Long' version measure 11-inches in total length and fit wrists from 6 to 8 1/2. However, watch size and geometry also impacts fit. Those with larger wrists (above 7 1/4) typically prefer the 'long' version. If band is longer than desired, fold excess back into the keeper loop for cleanest look. Full money back for anyone that does encounter a fit issue. Attaching the Band: Refer to diagRAM in picture above. First, remove original band and reinsert spring bars into watch head (replacement spring bars sold separately on if needed). Then, simply feed strap between the spring bar and watch casing, behind watch head and up through the other spring bar. Run through stainless steel ring on short strap to secure watch head. No need to remove spring bars (pins) to swap between different colors.

Great looking, once modified.
This is a nice NATO strap. I appreciate that the retainer loops are made of leather as well, instead of metal like many NATO straps. It is incredibly comfortable and when paired with an appropriately sized watch, you can't even tell that you're wearing it.As others have noted, the leather is quite thin and extremely soft as it is top grain leather instead of full grain. I knew that going in, but for the price, I wanted to try it anyway. I'm actually quite happy with the durability. Yes, it is very soft and supple, and yes that means that you'll get a kink at the buckle position and a slightly elongated hole probably on the very first day that you use it, as I did. However, that same softness makes it extraordinarily comfortable. The kink and the elongated hole didn't continue or stretch once they formed, and the material isn't wearing thinner there. They formed on the first day I wore this strap and I've worn it daily through physical work, exercise, and recreation, and it has stayed exactly the same. I've been using this strap for about a month now. I feel like it will last for quite a while and have no worries about the buckle pulling through or anything like that.A positive aspect with the thinness of the strap is that it won't cause your watch to sit excessively high on your wrist. I'm a grown man with a very small wrist. I have to select a small case watch (38mm) and I want a relatively thin watch as well. Anything too big or thick just looks out of place on a thin wrist. Due to the way a NATO strap attaches to a watch, you are going to have two layers of the strap material between your wrist and the case back. If you have a thick NATO strap, this can cause the watch to sit quite high off your wrist and if you wear dress shirts, especially with French cuffs, sometimes the sleeve won't fit over the watch anymore. This isn't an issue with a thin strap like this.MODIFICATIONS: (See Pictures)I said that this was great looking once modified. What did I mean?First, I ordered Gingerbread Brown and it was much, much lighter than pictured.Second, the buckle hardware is polished chrome, but my Seiko 5 has a matte sandblasted case. I would venture to guess that the more rugged look of field watches paired with NATO straps would most often favor a brushed finish on the buckle instead of a polished finish. In my case, I really felt like the polished buckle clashed with the matte rugged look of the watch. So I did the following things:1. I rubbed a plentiful amount of mink oil into the strap. Front, back, under the loops, everywhere. I used a decent amount but really rubbed it in...no chunks or smears left on the surface. Then I baked the strap laying on its side on a cookie sheet at 200 degrees for 40-60 minutes. I took it out and repeated the mink oil and baking process 2 more times for a total of 3 times. This mink oil/baking combination really makes the leather supple, increases it's durability, and darkens the color. It has an added benefit of waterproofing the leather, preventing water from soaking in and water spots from forming. I'm really happy with the color now. A lot darker than it came, but with more character than the "saddle brown".2. I used a regular Scotch Brite pad to very lightly and uniformly brush the metal hardware. You don't want to press hard and scour the metal which will leave visible lines. You want to almost buff it, in one direction, over and over. It will take a few minutes but you can end up with a really nice matte finish that looks like it came this way.

Fantastic leather option for NATO lovers!
I'm in love with my black leather NATO's! The biggest selling point for me was that the keepers were leather rather than stainless steel. I've had two of them going on a week of wear and they feel great. For these straps I would recommend some shoe polish. Both of mine are black and they came with a matte finish. They already looked good, but some black shoe polish really brought them to life for me! The black became deep and rich and they now have a semi-gloss shine that gives them a much more refined look. Just "wax on, wax off".While some have noted that the straps are thin, I actually like that about these. Since they are NATO style straps, they have to be thin enough to be passed between the spring bars and the case. On my Casio Aviator watch, the gap is tight so any thicker and it wouldn't fit. Another thing to note about leather versus nylon NATO's is that these WILL conform to the case back of the watch you fit it to. In my case, the two Barton leather NATO's I have put on my Casio's are now permanent fixtures, unless any other watches I would like to try them on have the same lug and case specs.Customizing these straps is very easy. On my 20mm strap, I found it to be about 1/2" longer than I'd like and there wasn't enough to back-tuck into the keeper so I trimmed it. I used a Nickel as a template, trimmed with an exacto and cleaned up with scissors. No point in photographing the final product because it really does look like the manufacturer's cut.I'll definitely be purchasing more for other watches in my collection.

Comfortable, understated strap. Annoying buckle squeak.
I got the 20mm version in Gingerbread to wear as a replacement for the too-large (for me) strap of my Laco flieger. Overall, it's understated, comfortable, and very easy to adjust and change out for other straps. It has a suede feel to it, which might pick up oils and stains over time. This doesn't bother me, because I welcome the 'patina' that wearing it will produce. Pay attention that all of the strap stays are made of leather-- unlike other NATOs that are some kind of metal. The one thing that annoys and frustrates me is that the buckle squeaks when you move it against the leather. So, I hear it squeak as I move my arm. I really hope the squeak goes away over time; I'll likely give it a couple of weeks of regular wrist time. If not, then it's annoying enough for me to stop using the strap. I was torn on whether I should give the watch strap 3 or 4 stars. To me, the squeak is annoying enough to go with 3 stars, but outside of that, I really can't fault the strap for anything else.

Nice strap, wrong color
Ordered the Espresso Brown but somehow received the Saddle Brown instead. Very nice strap tho, it just doesn't match my watch as well as it would have with the correct color I ordered.

Great bang for your buck
This is a great strap, nice and thin and pliable making it very comfy on the wrist. Easy quick way to change up the look of a watch. The factory black cloth strap on my seiko 5 sports field watch had seen better days. I went with this Barton to change things up a bit. It took me longer to get the factory strap off than to install this one. NATO straps are quite easy but can be rather bulky, but the thinness of this strap is great. It's been on the watch a couple months now and hasn't patina'd as much as I had thought but I think it looks great and seems to be holding up. Just the typical bend in the strap on your usual position and a slight ovaling of the hole, but nothing I'm concerned about.I'll certainly keep these at the top of my list when looking for any new straps.

Exceptional quality
Very soft and feels high quality on the wrist. Little difficult to mount if you are using fat spring bars. But this is no problem at all.
