Well made
Good price quality seems well made pretty heavy duty but time will tell. As you can see from the photo the basket is much smaller than the fire bowl in my Vision Icon kamado which for me is fine as I do hot and fast cooking pizzas, steaks and such. While you can do low and slow in a kamado I prefer my MasterBuilt electric smoker for that. Smaller basket allows for more air flow and a hotter fire did hot and fast 4lb chuck roast yesterday used about 30% less lump than usual. I did snap the basket handles off as they would interfere with the low setting of the heat diffuser and they arenโt really necessary anyway. I also wove non galvanized baling wire thru the bottom wires to keep smaller pieces of lump in the basket longer. Clean out was much quicker and easier than before. Only used this once but I think I will really like this basket hopefully it lasts a long long time. Aloha

Rock solid, heavy, stainless rods, nice welds and $60 cheaper than the original factory part.
This was a backup for a Kamodo Joe from Sapphire, thus this review is based on the Saffire Kamodo I own which may not be the brand YOU own, and which is very nice given the cost of $533 online order at the big M store. They ship to store on a pallet for free. It comes with a lot of options others charge for!! I love mine and it's a SERIOUS unit and plenty for 4 people without trying. 6 or 8 if you get creative with rib racks, etc. 19" cooking grate diameter Saffire Kamodo. It has a VERY nice lump charcoal basket out of the box, but is a bit expensive when you go to order parts at their site for a backup, and the shipping is a little high. They're not the worst at that, by far, I've found. I recommend them for the grill purchase without hesitation via the big M site! I'm adept at online searches and searched far and wide - and this is the best replacement lump charcoal basket for backup when the original wears out, and they ALL DO, and this was the best option on a budget. It's not an exact fit replacement for the "Saffire Kamodo" basket, but is close enough and the fix to make it near perfect is SIMPLE and anyone can do it. The top rim diameter is plenty close but the bottom rim diameter of THIS basket you are considering is about 4" less diameter........... than the Saffire! It may be a near perfect replacement for yours, so get your measuring tape out. :) The Saffire bottom ring of the charcoal basket actually sits on the top rim of the ash pan and is 13 1/8th inch diameter at the BASE. It's 14.25" at the TOP rim of the lump charcoal basket. Not a lot of slope there. But it also holds more lump charcoal maybe needed for extra long overnight cooks. I like to keep my Kamodo cooks to 10 hours or less and that covers everything I want now that I switched from brisket to chuck roast for a BETTER, easier, softer, more moist, more reliable result with a very similar meat and finished texture but softer, the Chuck being better! Burnt ends too if ya want em. Cost almost the same here in meat central Nebraska. Bout $3.99 on regular sales. (Choice ribeye sales often at $9.99 for boneless with excellent marbling when ya buy the whole slab, that they cut and package individually FOR you. The ranches are 60 miles away. It's like cheating.) THIS basket is more Narrow at the base than the factory Saffire Kamodo one - at the bottom rim and is 9 1/4th inch at the base rim (13 5/8" top rim) and goes down INTO the Saffire ash pan about an inch and a quarter where the factory one rode ON the top lip. Large base diameter difference from factory part of about 4 inches diameter. NOT a problem. Ezy fix. I'll measure, cut, and weld three 1/4" steel rods I have to the base of this more narrow basket, made to simply bottom out and ride on the top rim of the ash pan where the original would have sat and bottomed out. No reason you couldn't use some fat wire to attach a couple cut rods to the bottom of this basket spread out to ride the top lip of a Saffire Kamodo. SImple, cheap and completely effective work around. Check the wire periodically for wear and if wire is used, tie it at the outer rim so it absorbs less heat to minimize thermal wear. In closing, this is a SERIOUS basket, and from my thorough comparisons it also weighs MORE than any in it's price range, and more than some more expensive too! Weight means thicker stainless wire used. They call it wire at the plants, we might call it rods or bent rods. Going to get one more then I'm set for life and whoever inherits this will be good to go too. That said, I addressed this basket in relation to my "Kamodo from Saffire", which is built a tad differently (better?) from the more common brands. You know your brand and dimensions and this may be a perfect fit. They have a web site. All I can say is this is a QUALITY, thick, heavy (compare weights) serious unit with excellent QC and finish. You would not regret buying it. No way. LL&P

Great accessory for green egg
This basket makes the egg cleanup easy. It is definitely one of the best accessories to buy. No more messy charcoal cleanups. Lift the used coals up with the basket handles and a few shakes to cleat the dust. Set to the side and remove the ash and you are ready to add some more charcoal and cook. The airflow is dramatically improved so the wood burns much better. This basket is extremely well made and durable.

Great upgrade for the Green Egg
Cleaning the Green Egg used to be the most tedious task, but this charcoal basket has made the job much easier. Fits my large Green Egg well and is holding up great after multiple uses. Size is perfect for pouring the leftover coals or wood directly into a standard grocery store plastic bag (once the coals have cooled) for quick disposal. Makes me want to grill/smoke more often now that cleaning is less involved.

Might be that is a bit small for a big egg of 24 inches, but I'm happy with it.
For a 24 inch big egg, might be a better fit to be a bit bigger (like maybe 15 inch or 16), but this one is also doing the job very well, so I'm happy with this purchase.
