The main characters are morons.
I thought the first book in the Series, Priceless, showed some promise, but this was disappointing - mostly because the main characters are both morons.(Spoiler alert): Rylee spends almost the entire book upset at both the male lead and her best friend for an entirely imaginary "affair" that she infers based on... almost literally nothing. As soon as she realizes that she's been acting like an idiot for 80% of the book, the male lead decides it's time for *him* to act like an idiot. Fearing he's becoming a werewolf, knowing she's an expert on the supernatural and he's completely ignorant, he refuses to say anything about his concerns and ultimately goes off to solve his problems himself - without having any idea whatever how to do that. Even the author can't come up with a single reason for his silence; he just can't talk about it. (His jaws felt glued shut; he can't pry his tongue from the roof of his mouth; and so on. Bleah.)Yes, this is the sort of thing that Patricia Briggs and Ilona Andrews do (better), but you can like their books and still find this unsatisfactory. Contrary to another reviewer, the heroine is frustrating because she has no brains. She repeatedly wants, and tries, to do things she knows she can't or shouldn't. She appears to be incapable of *planning*; she just assumes she can improvise her way out of anything. The lunkhead male lead isn't much better, and Rylee's supposed best friend (the witch) is both completely unreliable and utterly unlikable.Maybe some of her other series are better, but I can't see why anyone would want to spend more time with these characters.

Fast, fun, sexy new voice in urban fantasy
I often download Amazon recommended reads from independent authors and many times find a diamond in the rough. This series is definitely one great find. I gave Priceless, the first book in this series a try and then went to see if there was a sequel without coming up for air. Immune, the sequel, was just as entertaining, fast paced, funny and sexy. Although it is rather short for a book coming in at under 200 pages, the author has all of the essentials and there isn't a wasted moment. The only thing I wanted when I was done was a third installment. The heroine, Rylee, is a lot like Kate Daniels for you urban fantasy fans and although no one comes close to Kate, Rylee is a kick butt character to read.Rylee Adamson is immune to most magical attacks and she's a Tracker. She can find anyone anywhere, with the exception to the most important missing person, her sister, who was mysteriously taken over 10 years ago. Since that event, she's used her abilities to fight supernatural bad guys and help find missing children. She brings them home whether they're dead or alive, and for the most part, it's not usually a happy ending. FBI agent, Liam O'Shea always thought Rylee was responsible for her missing sister and dogged her for over 10 years, but after the events of the first book, he realizes what an amazing and dedicated woman she is dealing with a whole world of supernaturals he never knew existed. He's joined a special arcane division of the FBI and wants Rylee to be his partner, but Rylee has a whole set of insecurities to deal with and a nasty venom that's killing her. As the two work together with some great sidekicks, Rylee and Liam grow closer together to help out some friends, cure Riley, and find a missing child before it's too late. This book has lots of action, violence, sexuality and a great cast of interesting characters that include harpies, trolls, demons, vampires, daywalkers, ogres, witches, werewolves and psychics so far. Each individual mystery is part of a greater series plotline that sucks you in and doesn't seem to let go. I am definitely looking forward to future installments and recommend it.

Supernatural realms, werewolves and witches will keep you reading
I have always loved the beliefs in the other worldly beings. In this series you find Werewolves, and unicorns, Harpies and trolls among all the others that you've only every seen portrayed but never walking our streets. This author can draw you into believing that all of this exists on a level that only a few can see. This book brings to the front the feeling of knowing that the FBI and our government know that there is a whole realm out there that exists and they fight it daily. That with some magic from a witch you can change that werewolf into a large black dog so he can walk among you. I am hooked and will continue following this Raylee ( who is a supernatural tracker ) of lost children. Children with special abilities. Children wanted for sacrifices and their abilities passed down to them. That spells are cast to change perceptions and to fight the evil demons from the underworld.Dive in and you won't be able to stop reading.

Why did I wait so long!!
I waited a long time to try this series, it was constantly recommended to me via amazon. But I haven't met anyone who had read any of her books so I was hesitant. I recently saw that they were on sale so I took a chance and snatched them up. And OH BOY!! I am so glad that I did!! I am a huge fan of urban fantasy and paranormal romance. I have read some that are darker and intensely sexy series (like Karen Marie Moning's Fever series-highly recommend that one) and some gorgeously written, beautifully emotional, epic series that has adventure as well as romance like Elizabeth Hunter's books. But this series is equally wonderful in its own way. The books aren't huge tomes (yet, I have only read the 2 so far), so they read quickly. But each story gets your adrenaline going with action, and the underlying story between Rylee and Liam. The stories have been very funny, I truly like Rylee's POV. Her inner dialog is exactly what I would be thinking. But something that I haven't seen before is how she creates different types of characters. In this world, if it can be imagined, it can exist as a potential supernatural enemy or ally. But nothing is typical, what you know of werewolves, vampires, trolls and so many more fantasy creatures is completely unique in these books. So I guess I should sum it up to say that If you are looking for something to easily get wrapped up in and you love PNR, then get on it. I need to be going…Book #3 is waiting…;)

No immunity to this tracker's charms
As a followup to the previous novel this is satisfying in respect of the fact that the story moves on to the next level in terms of developing new themes.Rylee is again engaged in finding a missing child, but this time the child has been taken to lure her in to a trap. However, for the tracker this makes no difference she has to find the boy. The main characters all return here and I am really warming to the trolls and the harpee. Our main protagonist also finds herself battling the effects of the sting she received from the ice demon in the last story. This is literally a thorn in her side and she is reliant on her agent friend to pull her through at times.Overall I enjoyed this book it left me wanting more and the daywalkers identity and relationship and interest in Rylee kept me turning pages along with her sisters destiny. I will definitely be reading the next installment.

another exciting adventure with Rylee and co...
Immune: A Sexy Urban Fantasy Mystery (Rylee Adamson # 2) Shannon MayerI'm always on the look for new books/authors and saw some reviews of Shannon's first book Priceless on Facebook. After reading the sample I decided to buy given that it was only 77p and sounded right up my street. Loved it so much I had to buy Immune straight after and I only wish Shannon had already written more. The synopsis gives a pretty good description of what the story is about so I'll just say what I liked. I loved Rylee - she's had such a difficult upbringing with special talents that make her different from others and that and her guilt over not being able to save her sister from abduction mean she spends most of her time alone with only a couple of close friends. Alex the werewolf - great character with his loopy sayings, and yes he does sound like an overgrown child. His presence often makes life hard for Rylee and yet she looks after him knowing if she didn't the Pack would kill him. Then there's the mostly batty but occasionally lucid Giselle who brought her up after her parents kicked her out and her best friend Milly. Giselle is a great character but Milly - well with friends like her etc. etc. but she provides an excellent evil bitch type persona - all good books need some bad people. We see much more of O'Shea in this one - he's one hot man and a great foil for Rylee. I hope the next book finds a way of bringing them back together - Rylee needs one person she can fully trust. The mix of super-naturals from vampires, witches, trolls, shape-shifters is awesome and they all play a special part - no one is is there as a filler. Its a well written book, plots that pace along easily and give rise to other sub plots, twists and turns taking Rylee to unexpected places...its one of those fantastic books where you just can't predict what will happen next and is long enough and in depth enough to bear multiple readings (my keeper criteria) At £2.05 for 180 pages in kindle is good value especially bearing in mind I'll re read it in the future.stars: full five - loved the book and am really keen for the series to develop into a long running one ( but please Shannon don't make us wait a year between books if you can..)

Filling a Rachel Morgan shaped hole.
I love a good urban supernatural series. Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan and Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden being runaway favourites.Since the Rachel Morgan series finished, I've been eagerly seeking out a new series to take its place. I have not been disappointed!I downloaded book 2 straight after I finished book 1. The characters are well written with interesting quirks. The supernatural elements are wonderful, particularly the character of Eve - very different, but full of emotion.I do like a good bit of romantic tension, and Shannon Mayers main players have it in spades, without being cheesy. Rylee is a fantastic female lead with a gritty background and sassy attitude without being annoying and overly 'woe is me'.For 99p these books are exceptional bargains.Don't hesitate, give them a go!
