For fifty cents more i can get two cans of private preserve. is there something better about this product that makes it really worth buying instead?

Short answer: Yes, it's a superior product and will work better. Because... Physics Discussion: Private Preserve is mostly nitrogen. While it's true nitrogen is an inert gas it weighs about the same as oxygen. This makes it more difficult to displace the air already in the bottle yet even more critical to do so to get the same effect. ArT Wine Preserver is argon, also inert, but argon is significantly heavier than both oxygen and nitrogen. (Check out the periodic table of elements.) So AWP will be more effective and less persnickety to use. It will more easily displace the air already in the bottle... but even if you didn't get all of it out, the argon is still going to sink to the surface of the wine forming a protective barrier. BTW our atmosphere is already about 78% nitrogen so you really need an inert gas that's heavier in order to work well.

What stopper is recommended for use with this? I see ther is some advice on the can, but cannot read it.

The ArT Stopper has been tested for a tight fit with most wine bottles. Other tightly sealing wine stoppers will work with the ArT Wine Preserver - but none of the vacuum style stoppers will work with ArT Wine Preserver.

Will this work on Less than half filled bottles of wine? Do you squirt the same amount of argon?

I'm the only wine drinker in the house so it takes me awhile to get through a whole bottle. I have been squirting the same amount as the level goes down and it has worked for me. I've kept a bottle for about a week with this method. I'll definitely buy it again when I run out.

Does this effect the taste of the wine?

It helps the wine retain it's freshly opened taste for probably 2 or 3 days. Maybe more but I wouldn't push it... I haven't noticed the gas changing the flavor of the wine.
