Will Well 2 Pack Retractable Keychain - Metal Badge Reel - Matte Black

I bought these retractable keychains to use with the beaded lanyards I make, and they work perfectly! They are sturdy, easy to attach, and the retractable feature makes them convenient for everyday use. They add a nice finishing touch to my lanyards and make them more functional. Great quality and a great value!

This is the second time I've bought these and I was debating between 4 and 5 stars but settled on 5 stars because my gripes are things I only experienced outside the normal usage of this item. For 8 months my badge lives in my hip pocket with the reel dangling out while the other 4 months I wear it on my lapel. While in my pocket it banged around on alot of things which deteriorated the finish of the reel, bent the clasp, cracked the housing, and the screw that holds the 2 halves of the housing together loosened and prevented the cord from retracting. I was able to bend the clasp back into working order and disassemble the reel to rewind the spring and cord which now works like normal. Even with a cracked housing and worn finished it looks and works good. I've never lost my badge because the snap that attaches to the badge keeps it secured to the reel. The price is more than fair for the quality of the product. It's about as easy to use as it can get.

This product was just want I was looking for, I heavy duty way to keep my ID/Access card and time card accessable and out of the way of the machinery that I work with. The snap part is very heavy duty reenforced vinyl and worked equally well with the company provided crappy ID card sleeve and the more heavy duty card carrier I upgraded to. The retractable mechanism and belt clip have a very substantial heft to them and the clip is very sturdy and tight. I was initially worried that it would be too bulky and annoying but it hasn't bothered me once and the clip has barely left a mark on my belt after almost a year of continuous use. The cable itself is braided metal with some kind of plastic coating and extends and retracts smoothly and had no problem supporting my cards. I had been using this product for almost a year (purchased Jul. '19 today is 4/26/20) and unfortunately today the cable snapped as I was walking with the lanyard under no load (that I was aware of.) The point of failure was directly above the point where the card attaches at a bend where it retracts back into the clip. Thankfully this is a two pack and I'll be able to use the second one and not get any grief from security at work tomorrow. Also if looks like I may be able to repair it with some disassembly which I will try tomorrow. Overall I am very satisfied with this product and will most likely purchase this again if and when the second one breaks. I expected to get more than a year of use out of one of these but I am still satisfied with the product.

Its made of metal so the good with that is it should hold up better but it a bit more heavy too, it looks just like the photos and seems work like it should.

Very Durable & easy to use. The cord does wear out over time, which is to be expected when pulled out numerous times a day! They still last at least 6 months if not longer.

I was looking for a durable badge reel because the cheap plastic ones always seem to break after a few months. Based on the description, this all-metal, heavy-duty reel from Will Well seemed like the perfect, long-lasting solution. Right out of the package, the build quality is impressive. The glossy black casing is solid metal, and the UHMWPE fiber cord feels incredibly tough, like it could last for years. It definitely lives up to the "heavy-duty" name in terms of its materials and construction. However, the "heavy-duty" aspect is also its biggest flaw for my needs. The retraction mechanism inside is *extremely* strong. I only carry my ID badge and one key, and when I let go after swiping my card, the reel yanks back with so much force that it often pulls the entire clip right off my belt loop or shirt pocket. I find myself having to re-clip the whole unit back on several times a day, which defeats the purpose of convenience. I think this reel would be fantastic for someone who carries a much heavier load—like a custodian with a large bundle of 5-8 keys, or someone with a small but heavy tool attached. For that kind of weight, the spring strength would probably be perfect and prevent sagging. But for just a standard ID badge, it's complete overkill. Pros: * Excellent build quality with all-metal construction. * The pull cord is extremely strong and durable. * Would easily support a heavy set of keys without sagging. Cons: * Retraction spring is far too powerful for light loads (like just an ID badge). * Aggressive recoil can pull the clip right off your belt or clothing when you are scanning the badge. In the end, this is a well-made product that unfortunately doesn't work for my specific use case. It’s too powerful for its own good unless you plan on weighing it down significantly.

This badge holder has lasted me 5 years of daily use. Not a bad lifespan compared to the plastic versions out there. A colleague of mine used the same item and broke theirs after 4 years, so mileage will vary.

This badge reel is so different compared to the rest ones. It looks very secured and not easy to be broken.
