I absolutely love this bait feeder. I received it in the mail yesterday 8-1-18. I only had an hour to fish so I went to my local honey hole.Got a bait fish and sent it out & with this new Pontus 3000 10lb mono. within minutes I had that catch, and the light drag alarm is super nice and easy to hear, I ran over flipped the switch and it instantly set the hook in that 4.5-5lb large mouth!. Slick Design, Solid Reel. Fished with with and caught some decent fish. Drag works great! Even though I used it for finesse bass fishing just to get used to it, it is a baitfeeder and can't wait to bait fish for some striper and catfish and really test this reel out!

I have been waiting for this reel to come out and finally, I have the perfect set up for the large Pike that live around the area. You can really load up this reel with a ton of line and the dual drag system will make fighting and landing these pike no problem. The handle is nice and long to get a good grip because you never know when your hands will get wet.

Caught a 24 inch catfish with this reel. So yea it can do the job.But then the Reel broke after catching this big Carp. The Drag switch system broke on it. Only Lasted 5 to 6 month of use.

I only keep one spinning reel on the boat for finesse applications, therefore, it has to be a reliable option. This reel proved itself with a dozen fish today, check out the pictures! The first time I picked the reel up I was blown away by what you get for the price. The 9 +1 bearing system gives the reel a very smooth retrieve. The bail is very sturdy and flips over with ease. The most essential feature is the RELIABLE drag. The spools turns easily and let’s you fight the fish with light line. If you want to run heavy line for big fish, crank the drag UP TO 26LBS!!!The cherry on top is the baitfeeder/dual drag system. A small LEVER in back engages the rear drag. The power of the rear drag is controlled by a round knob on the butt of the reel. This drag can be set light for live bait or any dead stick applications (worms, catfish bait, etc.). This allows you to keep the bail engaged with a light drag. There is still an audible click when the fish takes the bait with this light drag. With a turn of the handle, the main drag engages and you can start fighting the fish!I highly recommend this reel as it's affordable, reliable, and can be used for multiple fishing applications!

I purchased the Pontus 5000 for catfishing. Things worked well for about two hours, then on hour three the drag system failed. The primary drag would hold to a predictable point and then rapidly dispense line, screeching for about a second, as if the baitfeeder drag had kicked in or some gears were slipping. At no point did I touch the secondary drag switch or adjustment knob: it simply failed. Given that I was using 20lbs test mono, the system should not have been over stressed. Seeing as I have liked my past Kastking products, like the Summer reel and the mono line, I had high hopes for this reel, but now I don't know if I can ever trust the model. Check the other reviews: this is no isolated problem.

When it comes to quality and value it is tough to beat the reels by KastKing. The new Pontus holds true to the companies core principles. I purchased the 3000 series reel to target carp and catfish. My local Ohio waterways. The reel is smooth (9+1 ball bearing) and it just looks awesome. Spooled the reel up with 65lb Fortis braid. The 26lbs of drag will come in handy when reeling in some large cats. The 5.2:1 gear ratio will certain help land the fish faster.

Every reel i have gotten from kast king has been absolute garbage. I was really upset because at first the seem really smooth and strong enough for the catfish i fished for. So i ended up getting 4 of their reels (not this model) after one year of use 3 put of 4 of the handles bent not even fighting a very heavy fish. So i thought i would try this one. I got this one for my dad for christmas but i ended up using it first. I ended up hooking into a 36 pound flathead catfish and amazingly i landed the fish. Right when i went to set the hook the drag slipped. I thought maybe i had it too loose so i kept tightening it. The whole way in and it kept slipping and slipping and slipping. Needless to say. Do not buy their bait runners i cannot say anything bad about their normal reels but it would he wiser to buy something more reliable. I have roughly 200 dollars worth of their reals that are unusuable... if you want anything kastking that'll last get their braided line. That hasn't fail me, yet...

First impressions of this reel are fantastic.This is the first bait-runner I have purchased and I am really impressed with the quality of this reel. The drag is and gear mechanism is great and fanatically smooth. Excellent weight and balance to the reel itself, fells like it is made from very high quality materials and the finish looks amazing. The black and blue finish is very striking.I have just loaded it up with 20lb KastKing SuperPower and this has loaded really nicely. I am very much looking forward to getting to the water with this reel to see how it performs with a fish on but at the moment I cannot see anything that could be improved with the reel.My daughters who all enjoy fishing with me were all very excited and impressed with the reel too, their exact words after using it were 'it turns very smooth and is not too heavy'. If you ever want honesty ask a child and I think this speaks volumes for this reel!!KastKing have done it again, excellent quality product at a fantastic price!!Follow up: I have used this reel a few times now and it is fantastic, I have used it in salt water and it has caught me a few nice fish and has not shown any signs of disliking the salt water environment at all which is great. If you are looking for a great quality bait runner at an fantastic price do not over look this reel.

The NEW! KastKing Pontus 3000 Baitfeeder Spinning Reel for Live Lining Fishing 9+1 Ball Bearings Up to 26.5 Lbs/ 12 Kg Drag.This reel has replaced my Carpkinetics 10/10 FS which failed on me last week. I only had it less than a year with not much fishing time on it. The 1bb inner cover bearing failed grinding to a halt. That was that, in the bin it goes.I am so happy, that I now have this new product from KastKing the Pontus 3000. I do also have the Mela II 3000 spinning reel which has been catching me Perch and Pike this year with no problems.The Pontus reel looks great with its black and blue finish. It feels very sturdy and strong with an excellent weight and is well balanced. Knowing that this reel is made from a corrosion free graphite construction it will take a lot of wear on wet days. I fish in Ireland and the UK I get a fair amount of wet weather so this helps with the longevity of this reel.The unique feature of a baitfeeder spinning reel allows the fish to "run" with the bait and then with the flip of a switch or a turn of the reel handle, locks the spool to engage the hookset to fight the fish. With my setup I adjust the back drag first and then the front drag to get more or less what I want to play the fish with.The bail arm is a good size to match the spool and not flimsy. The anti-twist line roller will keep your line from tangling, it looks like it is made of aluminium and it does roll with the line. I added a close up picture of the line roller.9+1 Maxidur ball bearings and 5.2.1 alloy gears give the spool and handle a smooth movement with no space/gap jerks. The handle and finger grip rotates smoothly. The finger grip is like a hard coated rubber. I would say made so that you can get a good grip in the cold or wet weather.I have the Pontus spooled now with 20LB KastKing SuperPowerBraid this is a great product to match the reel for the fishing I am doing. Carp, Pike, Perch and Trout just adjust your reel with the right line and right drag and you cannot go wrong, the fish are for the taking!KastKing have a great overall product all the functions I need, well priced and one to have in the bag!

KastKing Pontus 4000 Baitfeeder Spinning Reel is very good reel. I have used many baitrunner reels and was thinking on buying something cheaper . I did the right choice buying this reel. Drag and gear mechanisms is very smooth.This reel is one solid piece of art with no shaky parts. The handle is a little longer than on my other reels and it is a good thing, it gives more power fighting with a fish. Blue and black are my favorite colors so I really like the way it looks .This reel is a little heavy but its a baitrunner reel not a spinning one so its not a problem, I think its even better because its made of solid metal parts inside and the shell is made of corrosion free graphite not a cheap plastic like other reels at this price range, so definitely will serve me a lot longer than my previous reels. I had to removed one white washer under the spool (its very easy just remove the spool and take off one or 2 washers if line is not centered).So I added Kastking Fortis 20lb braid line on it and now it is perfectly centered (you can see in a pictures). I wish they added spare spool, but most of more expensive manufacturers never do that so I don't blame Kastking. I have tested this reel on a water. It cast unbelievable distance probably because of dynamic CNC aluminum spool(not sure what CNC goes for :D). Landed one barbel and one chub with no problems at all. Drag system did the job very good on a barbel runs. The next time I need to upgrade my reel it will be definitely Kastking Pontus.Good Luck...

Nice reel, used this many times, have had no problems with it. Baitrunner works very well and reel is very well made, strong but light in weight. Kastking seem to be getting better and better with there products and will continue to purchase there products, quality item.

These reels from kastking are fantastic value for money , I can't praise them enough , great build quality , super smooth , cast like a dream and look great , the drag is smooth and playing big fish these reels in all sizes are more than capable , I'd buy another without any worries , but , I've a feeling that these reels are built to last , I'm a very happy caorse coarse angler , just buy
