Slight mildly amusing debut novel about Bohemian London at the end of the 1920s. Provides some insight into Powell's early adulthood but not a meaty read.

The Waste Land with jokes - brilliant

Excellent!

Excellent debut novel, almost all in dialogue. Many hints of Powell's greatness yet to come, but the book itself is very satisfying. Funny, but not as satirical as Waugh's contemporaneous Vile Bodies. Powell's bright young things show a chill shadow of sadness missing in Waugh. A must for the obsessive Powell completist.
