Do you need anti-sneeze compound in the spark plug threads before installation? Are plugs nickel plated?

Yes that’s the proper way to prevent frozen plugs due to heat and cool down cycles that cause spark plugs to rust in place

I didn't check the gap of the plugs manually, as they were stated to be the gap needed to fit my 1998 Toyota 4Runner at 0.044 in. Since my 4Runner ran fine after installing them, I imagine this to be correct size. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.
