HL-2270DW Compact Wireless Laser Printer with Duplex Printing

I previously purchased a used HP Color laser that HP finally destroyed with their updates. Most reviewers talked about how reliable Brother was, so I choose this as a cheap replacement ($50 + $20 shipping at my time of purchase). I plugged in this ancient printer, downloaded the drivers from the site and it was up and running in 5 mins. Much success! So yeah, forget dealing with the nightmare of bloatware and ink subscription fees that is HP and just buy an old laser brother is my suggestion. Very happy with my seller 'surplusthewaytogo'. Shipping was very fast.

We have to manually feed the printer.

There was no indication online that the printer would be used. And one piece in the paper drawer was broken.

No print quality at all, and lines throughout each and everyone. Even after I bought Brand new toners, and drum units. Was unacceptable.

Have used this printer for medium home use for about 10 years. Best thing to know is how to reprogram the printer to eliminate the preset copy limit for a toner cartridge (found a YouTube video for this). Genuine Brother toner cartridges are expensive--I tried the cheap ones with disastrous results--but the high yield Brother lasts me a year or more (says 2600 copies but gives additional if printer is reprogrammed). Have recently replaced the drum for the first time. Can use wirelessly, duplex feature is great for saving paper & file space, and there's a feed guide for printing onto non-standard paper sizes like envelopes. The only downside is that it won't print directly onto pre-punched 3-hole paper--it jams every time. Former downside was that it would completely stop printing once it hit the preset toner cartridge limit, but that can be overridden--see above. Having said that, when this printer finally dies on me (or Brother stops making toner/drums for it) I'll probably get a different one that can print in color, because that would occasionally be useful. I'll most likely get another Brother.

Received the printer from FedEx. Was not told someone had to be home to receive so it took over a week extra to receive. Printer did not come with any power cords. Printer works good and is of good quality.

The printer is very good. I'd like it a lot, if not for the constant bullying to replace toner cartridges that still have a lot of ink in them and produce excellent printing.Unlike the old HPs, where you would use the toner till it was actually empty and not producing good quality, Brother has some kind of page counter or laser window approach, I'd guess- so they decide when you need to replace the toner cart, no matter how it is printing. Therefore, I, being stubborn, will continue to take the cart out and shake it rather than waste good toner and dump a working cart into a landfill just to please Brother's eagerness to sell more toner. Next time, I buy from a different manufacturer.

It says color but this printer is monochrome.
