Did the job, wasn't quick though.
I am writing this review after just having to use them. The bag is really hard to open, but I was panicking because the water was backing up in our bathroom, so that might have had something to do with it. These are really a one-time use kind of thing, take them out of the bag, unfold and toss them in or place in front of the water so it blocks it. In the end, they did the job. Although they didn't soak up as much water as I thought they were going to, I'm glad I got them because they came in handy. The absorbtion wasn't quick, but enough that it blocked water from going forward.

Works as described - perfectly
Sewer backed up these helped pick up the mess nicely. So I decided to buy some “just in case” put one at my basement door. While I was on vacation the kid who volunteered to water my plans “lost control “ of the house and sprayed the door for quite some time. These prevented the excessive water from entering the basement . Highly recommend

Quick Dam a product every homeowner should own.
QuickDam is a fantastic product which I wish I had found it a week sooner than I did. We had a major water issue in my basement that we figured we shop vaced about 200 to 300 gallons of water, always dumping it down my basement sump sink. But the water kept coming in . I had several cases of wee wee pads in the house which I was using to sop up as much water as I could. About 4 of those in a garbage bag weighed over 20 pounds . That is the first picture. No matter how much we vacuumed up the water, it kept coming in . After about A week of thinking ok we have the water under control.. more water.. still no idea where it was coming from . I found QuickDam online when I searched for product to soak up water indoors. These things actually form a dam after becoming fully soaked. It did take a little while for them to soak up the water, but once they did we were able to stop vacuuming up the water on the floor and pouring it down the sump sink . After buying my first 2 and using those I ended up buying a case of them - 12 in a case. As you can see in the 2nd picture the Orange things soaked up enough water my cat had to investigate. After a week my contract was finally able to come in to see where the water was coming from .. We figured it was some sort of crack in our foundation.. but after talking down the back wall area (3rd picture) it turns out it was a crack in our sewer line. Case of water found. Every time we dumped it down the sump sink it just kept coming right through the crack in the pipe .. Showers, Laundry. . .. I can highly recommend these I have already purchased several more of the 2 packs and sent them to my relatives in Florida who own homes QuickDam a product every homeowner should have.

Great for single use, but that's it
Works great and easy to use for fast cleanup. Speedy! It has a great size, it is light weight, and cleans up water fast! However, it is not durable, it is a one-time-use item. Although it did clean up water during heavy rain, I expected it to be more than one time use, so for that I am removing one star.

Stops flooding
When the apartment maintenance team cleans their exterior of our breezeway by pressure washing, the pooling water seeps under the front door to our apartment and floods the entryway. This water dam easily cured that. I placed one outside the apartment door, and another on the inside at the threshold. It absorbs an incredible amount of water and stops it effectively from getting by it. Definitely buying more of these. The only complaint I have is that I wish they were biodegradable.

Hope to Prevent Water Damage
I bought these after my floor drain backed up on my laundry room floor. Although the floor drain has now been cleared, the water damage was already done. I bought these more as a prevention of water spreading should that floor drain back up again. The reviews for Quick Dam were good for the absorption of water, so I’m using them as a preventive tool and have not yet had to test them. But I rest easier knowing there is something there to catch the water should it back up again.

Please don't waste your money
These promised a lot, but didn't deliver. I bought a LOT of these to simply guide water from my leaking basement to the drain. They never kept the water contained - they constantly leaked under the dam on a flat concrete floor. Once wet, they become a slimy, heavy mess. Then that slime becomes almost like glue if it hardens on surfaces. It's stained my floor, which doesn't bother me in my basement but might be a factor for others. I replaced this flop with silicone wall-type barriers that could be silicone to the floor and am much happier with their performance.

i put these down to protect furnace, water heater, shelves and laminate flooring transition in basement and forgot about them. one day i come home and i notice they are all bulged up and there are several inches of water contained within the area they encircle. a pipe connection had sprung a leak and the floor mat with anti skid was blocking the floor drain. lift up the mat, the water drained down the floor drain, appliances etc all dry. apparently you dont leave these on concrete to dry so i'll have to figure that out but its worth it, who knows how far the water would have spread without these

I put these to use immediately after receiving them. They perform as they claim. I would recommend this to anyone how have various spots they want to contain. I bought the 10 foot version to wrap around the furnace.
