Exactly what I needed and more
When I order this headset, I was extremely skeptical. I bought them more for necessity than for any desire. I share a wall with the youngest in the household. I'm a night owl and the TV in my room often disturbed her while she was trying to do homework or sleep. Looking through the reviews I order the headset thinking, "Well, maybe it won't be great, but it will get the job done."I was very pleasantly surprised. The headphones themselves are very comfortable. Lightweight despite the fact that they hold a battery on each side. The sound quality of the headphones is also fantastic. The sound was deep, rich, and you can set it up for either mono or stereo sound. I have not experienced any static while using them and I have a set up that could present A LOT of electronic interference with two computers, a wireless hard drive, PS3, and many other electronic devices right nearby and the sound is still crystal clear. There is a "static" of sorts when there is no sound to be heard on the TV, but it's just the white noise that you get with any standard pair of headphones. The only time I ever got any real static was when I tried to move the receiver while still the headphones were still turned on and on my head. Piece of advice: don't do that. I nearly blew my ears out. There is a slight inconvenience with the fact that you would have to get up to turn off the headset AND the receiver or plug the headset into the receiver to recharge. Here a simple trick: the receiver doesn't actually have to be on top of or even right next to the TV as long as it's plugged in. I used a longer cable and an extension cable to put the receiver right on my bedside table while still connected to the TV and everything still works perfectly.Another note, there are a couple different ways you can hookup the receiver. The set includes extensions that allow you to hook up the headphones to pretty much anything using a larger or small headphone jack, a red and white AC cable for stereo, or just white for mono. HOWEVER, if you opt to use the headphone jack that some TVs have, you will no longer get sound coming from the TV. If you hook it up using the red and white cables to the monitor output, you can control the two volumes separately. With the latter it is easy to switch from headphone use to normal TV use; with the former you would have to get up and unplug the cable from the headphone jack in order to get the TV sound back to normal. At least that's how it is on my ancient Daewoo TV. I have yet to explore whether this is also true on more modern TVs.

As The Birdie Says: Cheap...Cheap...Cheap!
In the first 2 minutes I owned this thing, the rubber strap across the top broke off on the left side while I was trying to see if I could make it comfortable enough to wear. Back to Amazon it goes!I own a previous version of this headphone set (I believe that it is the "777" version) that has served me flawlessly for over 4 years. The headphones (I bought an extra set so that my wife could listen to our bedroom TV with me) have been tossed around, laid on, and moved twice. They are still functioning fully and properly. I have even replaced the foam ear covers twice; like a Timex, they take a lickin' and keep on tickin'!I had a feeling as soon as I took these new headphones out of the package that they weren't cut from the same piece of cloth as my older ones; they were heavy, but flimsy (how does one pull that difficult task off?). I tried the headphones on and I couldn't seem to get them to stay down on my ears without riding up on my head. I took them off and tugged (gently) on the right side of the rubber head strap and found that there was a thinner rubber section there that seemed to serve as a relief of some sort. I then (just as gently) tugged on the left side. Pop went the weasel! The left side pulled right out, making the headphones completely useless. In the first 2 minutes of ownership! I think that's a new record for me.Normally I would accept a replacement, realizing that manufacturing will never be a 100% process. But these things were so cheaply made that I immediately determined that I needed to send them back for a refund. And so I did.

the really good ones cost over a hundred dollars
Affordable, rechargeable, wireless headphones. These are what I was looking for. Wireless headphones that I can use on my TV, computer, or music device. It took me a while to find ones that fit my needs. As expected, the really good ones cost over a hundred dollars. There were some cheap bluetooth headsets, but not all of my devices are bluetooth compatible, so that wasn't really an option. And a lot of wireless headphones I saw were not rechargeable. Maybe I'm a weirdo, but I spend a lot of time connected to headphones/earphones, so the batteries would probably only last 2 days, if that. And finally, I found these. These headphones came with an instruction book that was easy to follow, so not hard at all to set up. They allow you to listen to your TV wirelessly by sending infrared waves from the transmitter to your headset. The most appealing part about these headphones is being able to watch TV at any volume I want without disturbing anybody. I actually used to get complaints from other people even if they were in a different room. I also enjoy being able to play video games at night without having to mute the TV.These headphones are rechargeable and come with its own set of rechargeable AAA batteries. Please note that you should ONLY use rechargeable batteries. According to the instruction booklet, using non-rechargeable batteries with these headphones could possibly damage them. They are very easy to charge. Make sure the batteries are inside the headphones and that your transmitter is plugged in. Then simply plug the small cord located in the back of the transmitter into your headphones. According to the description, the batteries, when fully charged, last about 15 hours, which sounds right to me. Just to give you an idea, I use these headphones about 7-8 hours each day, and I need to charge them every other day.Unfortunately, you can't use the headphones from another room, as any obstructions to your transmitter's infrared lights will cause you to hear only static. You also hear static when your headphones are not in use, or if the transmitter is turned off. Note that the transmitter will automatically turn off after a minute or so if no sound is playing from your TV. You can always just turn your headphones off when you're not using them. Although, once when using my headphones while on my computer, all of a sudden my power went out and I was blasted with static. So that's a different story.A little bit after I purchased these headphones, I actually saw another set of headphones on Amazon - RCA WHP141B 900MHZ Wireless Stereo Headphones. Between these Unisar TV Listener Headphones and those, I'm not sure which one is better. But these serve their purpose well.
