I got these for my son as he has a bad knee and going away on a trip where a ice pack wouldn't be available, they worked amazingly well,so easy for him to use ,it says stays cold for two hours but he said it was a bit longer than that. We will definitely be getting more.

I’ve used many patches but these are not great, they don’t stay cold for more than a 10 minutes and they don’t stay stuck down either

I wasn't able to test the actual 'pain relief' aspect of these patches as just getting them applied was impossible - the instructions on the package go as far as 'apply', with no information on what you need to remove to apply. Is it the nearly impossible to remove thin plastic film, or the cotton backing that you remove? I pulled off the thin film eventually, the whole thing stuck to itself in a complete mess, and then I put it in the bin. Also, inside the box there's only five foil pouches - if you plan to use these one at a time, I wouldn't trust putting the unused 'half' back in its pouch without the sticky stuff oozing out the side and attaching itself to something. These feel like they were made to the lowest possible cost with no time or effort spent on producing a quality item. Update: My wife was able to actually use one of these, and got it firmly stuck to her knee for about an hour, during which she felt absolutely nothing other than "a faint sensation of cold when [she] put it on, but after that might as well not have bothered". These things are completely worthless in every regard.

Cooling gel patches from the Wild+ that provide fast pain relief up to 2 hours. You get 10 patches for £11.98 (with a 6% voucher and also Buy 2 Save £2 promotion at the time of writing this review), which I think is quite a fair price to pay for them. They don’t need to be placed in the freezer before use which is great. They are quite cold, and the cooling sensation lasts quite a long time too. The plaster sticks very well and stays in place throughout the day. It works quite fast as I couldn't feel the pain after just minutes of putting it on. I have tried these patches on my legs and back and they seemed to give a good amount of relief. The problem is it didn’t last very long and I could still feel the pain when I took them off. But that is expected as this is not a permanent solution for pain management. In short, these patches do a decent job providing some reliefs from pain even though not for a long time. I like the instant cooling formulation without needing to be put in the freezer, and don’t mind keeping some in my medicine cupboard.

These are useful alternatives to icepacks when you're on the go. Essentially, you want to place one of these cold patches on an area you are feeling joint or muscle pain. The ingredients inside the patch give you a cooling sensation, which should soothe your symptoms. It's quite interesting that the patches work with the ingredients such as menthol to give a deeper cooling effect. I would say that these aren't going to be nearly as cold or as useful long-term as an icepack. However, they're very convenient as an alternative and that's their main selling point. Should you end up with unexpected pain, you can just grab one and stick it on. Rather than having to hold an ice pack in place, you can just stick one of these down and walk about with it in place. Unlike a heavy, dripping cumbersome icepack these are so light that you can barely feel them once applied. These are portable, unlike an icepack, and also won't melt - so you can stash them in a car or purse or backpack. Overall, these do a good job of pain relief. I sometime suffer a little tendonitis in my knees after squat sessions and so it's nice to have these in my bag, so I can just press one on my knee and carry on my day.
