It's 5v, use a USB charger adapter, plug the USB into the unit and plug the adapter up and it's that easy

Is there a way I can replace the airstone and the sponges?

I believe so but I haven’t had to yet. I rinse the sponges and replace the stones

can the sponges be tilted down to lay flat?

Yes,The sponge can be lay flat for lower water tank like turtle or frog tank.However the water pump (4 inch high )must be operated under water.

Is this filter good for shrimp?

Definitely, because it is a sponge filter, there are no inlets to get sucked into and the shrimp like hiding out in the ridges of the sponges.
