Friends: Season 5

Wish I had read some of the reviews but Season 5 is one of my favorites and since I knew what I liked, why would I bother? Watched an episode and thought I was losing my mind! A scene was missing. Later, same episode, another missing scene. Another episode, different dialogue. Really?! If you want to edit something, remove/shorten/expedite the opening credits and leave the fun stuff in.This is good for a Friends fix but take note: you're getting edited episodes if you buy digital. I consider myself a casual fan so if I'm annoyed, a die-hard fanatic might lose it completely. If you want full-length and extras, stick to the DVDs.

To be clear, I ADORE Friends. It is the only show I can watch on repeat without ever getting tired of it! The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that I was hoping that the episodes would include the full length time as the DVDs do (FYI: the show on TV doesn't actually play the entire episode. They cut out a few minutes worth of dialogue and plot to shrink it for TV. The full length episodes are on the DVDs.). I find myself really missing those extra couple of minutes, but I'm a hardcore fan. If that doesn't bother you, go for it! You can't ever go wrong with Friends.

For the longest time I only had the first 4 seasons purchased. A week ago I finally decided to buy season 5 and I'm now I'm wishing I got it sooner. I LOVE this season of Friends! I feel that this season has some of the funniest episodes because of Chandler and Monica's secret relationship. My favorite is "The One Where Everybody Finds Out".However, a few "maybe not completely great" but still good things to note before you purchase are:1. The commentary isn't that great. Though I haven't watched ALL of the bonus features yet (I'm on disc 3/4), I do feel that the commentary isn't as up to par as they were in the past seasons. The producers explained things well in their commentary for "The One Where Everybody Finds Out" but for the "The One Hundredth" and "The One With All The Thanksgivings" I felt like they just ran out of things to talk about. There was so much dead air time. I got the impression that they were told they "HAD" to do commentary for special features on the package for a certain amount of episodes. It's a good idea, but it's kind of pointless if there isn't much to talk about. So if you're looking to buy this version of the DVDs for the special features (like me) rather than buy the versions that are only the episodes themselves, then you may want to consider that before you purchase and maybe you can save a bit of money.2. I feel like the writers really changed Ross's character in this season. He gets all melodramatic because of his divorce, has anger issues so he gets laid-off, and is kind of manic depressive or something. They also seem to make him dorkier (if that's at all possible... or at least that how I've felt when watching). There are definitely funny moments by making that shift with the character, but I can see where people could start to get annoyed with him or just see him as becoming a bit more separate from the other 5.Overall though, I really enjoy watching this season. I feel like the episodes don't get old. I'm laughing every time I watch whether it's the first time I've seen it or the 6th.

DVD"s ware out. And will not play. Mass cheep and mass production lower the quality of the printing of a DVD. I would rather have a VHS tape. This is the second time I'm replacing this DVD.

Everyone I know loves this show. It’s amazing. Come on give it a try. I am trying to collect this entire series on here almost there!

I say this a lot in my comments because I watch too much TV but this is one my favorite shows. And the 5th season is the first season I started watching. I was very anti-FRIENDS because people were making such a big deal about it and I watched Martin and Living Single and they were all friends so what was the big deal but I was flipping through the channels and stopped for a minute and in that minute Chandler made a joke about Dee, the sarcastic sister from "What's Happening" and I laughed for several minutes and became a instant fan and caught up on all the episodes I had missed.

I used this as a background at a Friendsgiving party. Even with no sound, it was fun to watch.

The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 is bc it was more expensive than all the other seasons.

I've seen all ten series of friends and series 5 is the one I liked most.Everything in series 5 seems so funny and positive - even things like Ross losing the incredibly irritating Emily!If I was asked what is the best comedy series I have seen in my life, I would say "series 5 of friends - go watch it yourself!" There are no(or few)well-known guest stars - hollywood actors etc - in this series - this is why it was so good - compromises were not being made for visitors and there were no distractions and interruptions from the more natural interaction betweenRoss,Chandler,Rachel,Monica,Phoebe and Joey.And in any case,there can be few actors better known around the world now than this bunch who are big stars in their own right.

After a not so good series 4, series 5 of friends more than compensates. It begins with the fall out from Ross and Emily's wedding and ends in Las Vegas. There are some hilarious episodes and the nice development of Chandler and Monica's relationship. 'the one with Ross's sandwich' is one of the best ever episodes, 'the one with all the thanksgivings' is also excellent, so many good episodes in this box set, the image quality has improved from the earlier seasons, but it is starting to look outdated.

I love love love Friends. It is my favourite show ever so I absolutely love these extended dvds where I can watch unseen snippets and gems I hadn't before. It's like watching the show for the first time again, love it!
