This is a good size strainer with nice thick mesh. It almost looks like a double weave. So far I have only used it for pasta, but it is really sturdy and doesn't bend when I am draining the noodles. I will be using this with a cheese cloth when I make soups or pasta sauce and need to strain out the vegetable pulp. The handle feels nice and there are two little hooks to grip over a large bowl. A feature my online cooking class mentioned to look for. The mesh lip is sealed and I have not had a problem with food getting stuck in the seam. I also received the "20 Salad Recipes from LiveFresh" in an email after my order was completed. The recipes are amazing. This strainer is a nice addition to my kitchen and the Recipe Book is a nice bonus. 07/27/18 - Love this strainer. It has become a staple utensil while cooking in my kitchen.

I was looking for a way to remove mosquito eggs/wrigglers from my horse water tanks that didn't involve dumping gallons of water out, scrubbing the tank with antibacterial mouthwash, and then refilling 60 gallon every week. Enter this strainer and someone's review about doing EXACTLY THIS for their rainwater barrels! I ordered immediately. This strainer is stainless steel - verified with a refrigerator magnet - and is much sturdier than any strainer I've used. The best part for (nerdy) me is looking in the strainer after skimming and seeing all those evil mosquito larvae wriggling around! Then I empty them onto the gravel. HA! Will buy another strainer for my other tank and also will recommend this to my fellow horse owners. And, as the other reviewer said, if you are looking at this strainer for kitchen purposes, it looks to me like it will definitely hold up. UPDATE: I ordered a second strainer for kitchen use. We frequently cook quinoa and dried legumes, tofu and potatoes.

The support bars cupping the mesh makes this the best strainer I've ever owned. In addition the mesh is the thick premium grade you get with premium product. The hooks are amazing. But they are too small. Easy to overlook given all it's positive attributes. You just need to find a bowel or colander with a narrow rim (or get just a little wiggle). When in place it holds completely flat. So you can pour your Quinoa rinse (or anything else) with minimal spillage. We'll see how it lasts over the long run. It's got a lifetime warranty. But I prefer quality over warranty because vendors come and go. It certainly seems to have quality AND design going for it.

Our old strainer that we had forever finally gave it up so I immediately logged on to the “Big A” and found these. They are an excellent size, and are quite sturdy to hold both quantity and weight. We bought two and have drained potatoes, pasta and peas. They are easily washed up and I expect they will last as long or better than our departed old faithful.

Ordered Jan. 2022 Review Sept. 2025 Cost $16 Great strainer. Heavy use in 3.5+ years of weekly meal prep. Dinner meet perfect for quinoa. Although, stuff will get stuck under the rim against the screen so take care when washing it. Length and hooks make it convenient for use in the sink or over a bowl. Finally looks like it's starting to rust so I'm going to trying a different brand.

When I strain food I tend to shake the strainer to get moisture out. Seems like a no brainer to me. But this also causes the handle to break off cheaper strainers. I do not believe that will happen with this strainer. I’m very pleased with its construction, size, and the strength of the wire strainer material.

I can't believe I am saying this, but after 25 years this is one of the kitchen purchases that I wish I had known about and made sooner. It is so handy and versatile. It is WAY better than using a simple colander. I hardly ever use those anymore. It is EXCELLENT at making homemade gravy, because it filters out all the fine particles. Perfect for cleaning beans and lentils. It is heavy duty and has a non slip handle. It fits perfectly in a medium sized pot. I have throw mine upside down in the dishwasher and it comes out clean. I highly recommend.

I primarily bought this to rinse my rice before cooking. It's performed other strainer duties flawlessly. I like that it is all stainless steel. Easy to clean and very sturdy. A nice addition to my kitchen.
