Works fine, like the original.
It works, but the squeal persisted. Apparently, it was a different issue, the taller narrow thing to the left of this flush valve. I have zero confidence in some handymen - even the diagnosis was wrong. My motto is, generally, do it yourself and it will get done right.

Don't be afraid. It's not that hard to replace it yourself.
Quite pleased with myself for installing. Youtube helped. The toilet works great now. Being a 65+ female accountant this job was a bit foreign to me. I didn't realize until I got the toilet tank off that if you are going thru the trouble of replacing the flush valve then you really should get a new gasket kit as well. It took another day for the gasket to arrive but in the end my toilet is poised to be working well for the next 10+ years.

Something this simple and amazing fix
Our toilet was constantly running and never flushed right for a long time. I called the company and they refuse to replace this part knowing its junk and it's costing customers thousands on their water bills........ They don't want to even acknowledge that it's their own product and act like they can't find this toilet in their inventory system! I did some Google searching and I found this on Amazon and now this toilet works like it should've been for the past 10 years! No water running, good flushes, and easy to put in. American Standard should be sued for the astronomical water bills these toilets have caused and why should we have to fix their defective toilet problem? Shame on them as I will never buy anything from them again! If you buy this piece you will be so happy 😀

handle trip attachment comes mounted at the wrong point on the chain.
The part itself is fine. But be advised that the handle trip attachment comes mounted at the wrong point on the chain. It should be on the end, the last bead. Instead its 4 beads too short, which means you have to move it to the end otherwise the chain isn't long enough. It's not that easy to pry it off and move it to the end location. And you need to do this with the part unmounted, if you try to do it after you mount it, it's even harder to accomplish.

Can’t get these at “orange” depot
Really tricky to change, slow consistent leak gone. American Standard Champion are uncloggable and almost unbreakable. As a landlord, never worry about renting to female only tenants again.

Unhappy with this design.
I purchased this to convert valve to a type that would allow me to only have change the seal. Most toilets use a standard flaps seal of two different sizes (pretty standard) these as you already know are different. So far after installing this Ive had at least one ghost flush and one toilet running issue. Im on the hunt for a conversion unit that will allow me to use a standard flap valve. Never again will I purchase atoilet with this type of flush seal. Not like you change toilets very often but Ill remeber this crappy design.

Leaky toilet? Buy this and save water and money
Our toilet started to leak and Amazon came to the rescue with this exact replacement which was much better than the generic flappers available in the big box stores. The American Standard Champion Flush Valve took just minutes to install and has adjustments so you easily control water levels in both the tank and bowl. It seems a little louder than our original flush valve, but have used it for several months now with no issues — and best of all, no noisy leaks!

Very disappointed
This new design does not work nearly as well as my original that lasted over a decade. I was hoping to just quickly switch out the little flapper lid because a piece mysteriously broke off my original. This is not possible because they changed how it attaches. The instructions don't even mention my old style (maybe everyone else's broke long ago). I had to search all over and luckily someone on YouTube showed the original version but then learned I had to replace whole unit. This meant hiring a plumber because you need to take off the whole tank. Did this many years ago when they had reca but too old now. It's ridiculous to do this for a faulty flapper and now it doesn't even work well. A plumbing forum said trash the whole toilet because of dumb design.... I could've done that for the cost of parts to replace (this part plus the other separate kit with washers that are usually all in one kit. A competitor with a K has aftermarket kit but plumber wanted to go OEM. I may try that kit or get rid of my Champion toilet. I just replaced the expensive flush handle too so trying to deal with it.

Perfect fit as replcement for American Standard cylinder flush valve in Champion toilet
The old American Standard "Champion" one-piece toilets in our house had these really fragile and troublesome 'cylinder'-type flush valves. (really bad design) and we were told by our plumber that you could not get parts for those any more, so we were preparing to replace the entire toilet, but we found this flush valve, and it fit perfectly and works great. No more slow leak from the tank into the bowl 24/7 as we had with the cylinder valve. Great replacement product. Easy to install.

Worked like a charm
Easy to install but still would’ve been nice if it came with installation instructions. Just came as the piece… no box, no instructions, no bolts. But worked like a charm… so 5 stars
