Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, Marvel Studios' GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and characters from the classic comics come to their aid as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand. Review: GOTG - Awesome movie Review: Multi-Dimensional and Unique - As mentioned previously, in some of my online writings related to the Guardians of the Galaxy film and music, my husband was the one who indirectly influenced me to watch the 2014 film and also the latest 2017 film. Each film is enjoyable to watch in its own way and the 2017 film of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (Plus Bonus features) touches on Peter Quill/the Star Lord (Chris Pratt) basking in the glory of some of his accomplishments and eventually meeting his father named Ego (Kurt Russell). The character of Mantis (Pom Klementieff) is introduced in this film as somewhat of a pet to Ego who eventually bonds with the other guardians. Peter Quill/the Star Lord is shown also accompanied by friends who have been with him some time such as Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), and Rocket (Bradley Cooper). They are all helping to raise baby Groot (Vin Diesel) and also meet up with a man (Michael Rooker)who was an unofficial adoptive father of Peter Quill/the Star Lord. Of course, there are many more featured actors/actresses in this film and what gives this science fiction fantasy film a sense of humanity is how it touches on friends and family. This was especially the case when the dynamics between Gamora and her sister Nebula (Karen Gillan). Both Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan creatively give their best in their dynamics of how they interact as sisters. However,I like how the writers of this film also tell Nebula’s side of the story in this film that explain her behavior in how she acts despite the fact that it is evident which sister is considered more likable/well-loved. I say this because both in real-life and sometimes even in other movies and stories involving family members, it is human nature to only share/listen/tell the side of the story of the more well-loved/golden sheep type of family member while sometimes not taking into account the side of the story of the person who deep down knows and accepts where they stand socially but has justified reasons for being the way they are towards other family members that may not always be understood by some people. Last, but not least, an eclectic and unique mix of music is included in the film which helps give a viewer the idea on how certain plot sequences tie into the outcomes (regardless of whether you consider yourself a writer).

if you're a fan of the comic series, super hero movies, or just sci-fi movies - this movie will be engaging and poignant
Comic Book Movie Review (8.5/10) "Great!" (Spoiler Free) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Director: James Gunn Starring: Chris Pratt (Peter Quill aka Starlord), Zoe Saldana (Gamorra), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Baby Groot), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Ego (Kurt Russell), Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) Plot: Quill has never known who his father was and has always thought that he had abandoned him since he was young. Quill discovers that who his father really is, and his ideas of friend and family are put to the test as he juggles between blood and the Guardians... This movie's major strength is how it plays with your emotions. You will laugh for the majority of the movie (this movie is REALLY funny - especially when Rocket takes on Yondu's Ravager crew), but you may also drop a tear or two towards the end of the film. My date was crying by the end of the movie, and I heard sniffles around the theatre. Because the first movie took the time to esdtablis each character, this movie felt very natural in terms of the team dynamic and each of the Guardians are loveable in his or her own way. As a movie this film is funny, moving, and engaging and you will be entertained for the 2 hours length time, but the plot was not as well thought out as the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie. However, the first Guardians also was one of the best Marvel Studios movies ever made so topping that movie was also an incredible task. This movie also is chock full of Guardians comic homages with appearances by characters such as Martinex T'Naga, the crystallized warrior and many more. This is a Starlord focused story, and although the other Guardians play a prominent role, the main focus is on Quill and his father. But the movie also takes a look at the extremely disfunctional relationship between Gamorra and Nebula and you come to understand why there is animosity between the two. However, though the story takes its time to show you what Quill and his father are about, the Gamorra/Nebula relationship felt really rushed. One moment they're at each other's throats, and then the next moment they become trusted allies and I thought the turn could've happened a little later. Even Yondu took a whole movie (the first Guardians of the Galaxy) to realize how much he loved Quill as an adopted son, but it took about 30 minutes for Gamorra and Nebula to become sisters. Also, it didn't really make sense to me why Rocket and Groot had to stay behind at one point of the movie when traveling as a team probably guaranteed more safety and less risk for Nebula's treachery, but this decision seemed to be in service more for the plot rather than the movie as a whole. I highly recommend this movie if you're a fan of the comic series, super hero movies, or just sci-fi movies as this movie was really engaging and poignant at the same time.

Great Marvel action flick.
I am a big major Marvel movie / show fan and I really enjoyed this movie. I'd say it's ok for kids too. A little bit of violence not too much but lots of action and the movie really kept my attention. I'm really happy that I watched this. I love how they kept Grut in this movie as well he is such a cute but fun character and my favorite in this movie. I was surprised at what is revealed about one of the characters and his father which really kept the momentum going in this movie for me. it's a great Marvel action battle type of flick . I love all the different characters and the whole scifi perception I got while watching this. I'm also a big fan of movies with creatures and space so this movie was right up my alley. This movie has some pretty funny comedy in it which is a great, but also has a serious plot to it as well. the fact that they so perfectly mixed the combination of those really impressed me. Great movie!

Dude... the tears and heart break are real
I watched both volumes back to back. I'd never seen them before. The first one had me tear up a little bit but not too bad. Dude... This one I was almost sobbing by the time the credits rolled. For a dude that grew up without a father or a real male figure to look up to for most of my life this one hit home hard. It reminded me that my grandfather in the short time I had him at the end of his life (five years before he followed my grandmother to the afterlife) was my Daddy. I had never really thought about it or him like that. Great, now I am crying again while writing this review. The story is super relatable for me. I think just about everyone will find something in it even if it isn't the father angle like it was for me. Baby Groot was absolutely adorable and a much needed comedy relief at times when the story would get intense. I loved seeing Stallone and Russell in the movie. I grew up watching both of those men in various sci-fi and action movies. I think the last time they were in a movie together that I remember was Tango and Cash. Not sci-fi but still a great movie. My best friend says there is going to be a third volume. I can't wait to go see it. I might even take myself out to the drive-in instead of waiting to rent it on here!

Celestial Fun
Rocket is my new favorite hero! He reminds me so much of Wolverine. Just the bad boy, animal attitude that makes him the chainsaw that he is in a fight! I use that persona in my workouts and I get better results while my friends look on wondering what mentality I am using. I simply say Marvel, Thor, Wolverine, and Rocket(don't call him Raccoon!) taught me almost everything about life. They laugh and catch the hint. Enough of my personal preferences and life applications. On to the movie description. Star Lord has always wondered who his dad was/is. He possibly finds out when Ego, a living planet and longtime foe of Galactus, now in human form, finds Star Lord and tells him that he is his dad. Ego is Star Lord's dad!? Hard to believe. The Guardians are taken to Ego's planet where they see the awesome beauty of Ego. They meet Mantis, a deeply spiritual and moral being with psychic abilities. Star Lord learns more and more how to manage his newfound powers which now, on Ego, are growing FAST. However, as with most action movies, there is a hidden catch. This catch is HORRIFIC. If you know your comics you know Ego is not always friendly, if ever. No more spoilers except one. At the very end of the movie we are given a treat/hint. With Infinity War coming very soon, there is still one major player that must be introduced to stay true to the comic book version. Quoting the golden queen:"Adam." Once again, if you know the comic book version and character, you know things are about to get apocalyptic. No, it is not Black Adam from DC. No crossovers(yet?). Beware..the golden...WARLOCK.

Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, the Sci-Fi film’s storyline continues as the team’s usual quest to traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos and The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favourite characters from the classic comics will come to our hero’s aid as the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand. The Sci-Fi film shares so much in common with its predecessor from the production design to the cast and creative team, but instead of feeling like a lesser re-tread of the ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’ 3D film, this sequel delivers more of what was so great about that first outing of the ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’ 3D film and takes it one step further where no man has gone before. The action picks up soon after the events of the first ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’ 3D film finished, with our space renegade heroes serving as for-hire heroes when no one else has the will, muscle or brains to do the job. They are protecting a high value asset of a gold-skinned group of aliens known as “The Sovereign.” Our story truly gets going as The Guardians successfully protect some highly sought after batteries that attracted the worst kind of interstellar scum. As they prepare to depart those high on themselves group of aliens, it becomes clear that our favourite feisty raccoon, Rocket [voiced by Bradley Cooper], has in fact stolen some of those highly sought after batteries. That immediately has our rebel heroes fighting off an armada of “The Sovereign” ships whose only goal is to see them destroyed. Out-numbered and out-gunned, it appears to be it for The Guardians when help arrives from out of nowhere. Actually, it is not completely out of nowhere as it is the person that Peter Quill [Chris Pratt] aka “Star Lord,” has been searching for his whole life. Yep, you’ve guessed it is his Father. It is Ego [Kurt Russell] from the Living Planet, and making it into the Marvel Studios debut. Peter Quill heads off with his newly found Father, as he seeks to know more about his Dad. Meanwhile, Rocket and Baby Groot [voiced by Vin Diesel] stay behind and repair their ship that was badly damaged in that death-defying escape. The actors in the ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2’ 3D film themselves are, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel, who are as magnificent in this film as they were in the first film. If anything, everyone’s stepping up their game for round two, especially Michael Rooker, whose character Yondu is much more involved this time around. Kurt Russell as Ego and Pom Klementieff as Mantis are the two most notable additions to the cast of ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2’ 3D film that of course did not feature in the first film, but on top of all that respectively, Sylvester Stallone and Elizabeth Debicki appear also in smaller cameo supporting roles, but still manage to make a great impression. Yondu [Michael Rooker], Kraglin [Sean Gunn] and their band of Ravagers also play an enormous role in this ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2’ 3D film instalment, even more than the first film and it is a welcomed addition, because of course it is totally enjoyable and action-packed increase in screen time for all. Sylvester Stallone as Stakar Ogord also too is introduced and too seamlessly joins in the fun of it all. It is a very rare sequel that can succeed by adding so many new characters, expanding roles of familiar faces and further deepening our understanding of the central characters. Again, director James Gunn proves his mettle for movie magic and is rumoured that he about to pen another 1,000 words screenplay by this brilliant auteur director ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.3’ and of course no set date has been announced, but let us just say there is no better soul to be ushering The Guardians into hopefully allowing Gamora [Zoe Saldana], Nebula [Karen Gillan], Mantis [Pom Klementieff] and villain Ayesha [Elizabeth Debicki] let loose and have as much fun as the boys have been having in the first two films, and of course another bonus would be to make another Awesome Mixtape #3 as well. But what was also really fun time to watch is when you see all the credits roll up the screen, which people do not normally watch, well this time it is definitely a must watch, as you view some really funny goings on amongst the credits and especially watch to the very end, as you will see something quite amusing. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2 MUSIC TRACK LIST BRADY (YOU’RE A FINE GIRL) [Performed by Looking Glass] MR. BLUE SKY [Performed by Electric Light Orchestra] LAKE SHORE DRIVE [Performed by Haynes & Jeremiah Alliota] UN DEYE GON HAYD (THE UNLOVED SONG) [Performed by Jimmy Urine] SOUTHERN NIGHTS [Performed by Glen Campbell] THE CHAIN [Performed by Fleetwood Mac] COME A LITTLE BIT CLOSER [Performed by Jay and the Americans] MY SWEET LORD [Written and Performed by George Harrison] WHAM BAM SHANG-A-LANG [Performed by Silver] BRING IT ON HOME TO ME [Written and Performed by Sam Cooke] SURRENDER [Performed by Cheap Trick] FATHER AND SON [Performed by Cat Stevens / aka Yusuf Islam] GUARDIANS INFERNO [Performed by The Sneepers Feat. David “Zardu” Hasselhoff] FLASH LIGHT [Performed by Parliament] 3D Blu-ray Video Quality – Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and Marvel Studios has teamed up to our jolly band of galaxy hero’s to a beautiful 1080p image presentation that constantly shines and definitely gives you the wow factor throughout the 3D film and also equally impressive is the 2.39:1 aspect ratio presentation. Like the first ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’ Blu-ray release, one of the best aspects of the production was the vibrant and brilliant cinematography by Henry Braham (Director of Photography), who has perfectly and faithfully captures this brash comic-book style. The contrast aspect of the film provides a comfortably bright and glowing presentation with sparkling brilliant whites throughout. Shadow details remain really good, exposing the tiniest of objects and detail within the darkest of shadows. Facial complexions beneath the makeup appear natural lifelike textures. So all in all the 3D high-definition presentation is totally awesome! 3D Blu-ray Audio Quality – Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and Marvel Studios give us an equally awesome 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio presentation that will sure to rock the house with several demo-worthy moments to impress any visitors. There a two specific moments in the film that immediately stand out are the Guardians' escape from the Sovereign's drone fleet and the savagely brutal fight between Nebula and Gamora on Ego's planet and in each of these scenes, the surrounds really come alive as the small spaceships zoom in ever which way direction and flawlessly appear from back speakers to the front speakers seamlessly. Also other very dramatic audio presentations are when all the ships fly all around and blasts with rapid gunfire are discretely heard throughout all the speakers, and so fully immersing the listener into the thick of battle. Quieter scenes come with subtle ambient sound effects, generating and maintaining a terrifically satisfying 360 degrees surround sound presentation, exhibiting superb detailing and clarity all round, keeping the action playful and highly engaging with effective off-screen activity. So all in all this is once again a top notch sound presentation, like you heard in the first ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’ Blu-ray release and a worthy edition to your Galaxy Collection. Blu-ray Special Features and Extras: Play Movie with Audio Commentary by Director James Gunn: James Gunn says a big HELLO, and informs us that he is the writer and director of the film ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2’ and a film James spent nearly three working on the film, and this audio commentary James informs us was recorded as the Vol.2 film has just been released in the cinema, and is very proud of this Vol.2 film, and is a continuous story of ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.1,’ but with this Vol.2 film we go much deeper into the characters, and to know more them much better. James informs us that the start of the film is actual set in Saint Charles in Missouri to be exact, and not far from where James grew up in reality and had a really wonderful time growing up, and says he relates to the Star-Lord character quite a bit. The car we see a simulated Kurt Russell driving is an actual 1979 Ford (US) Mustang Cobra and James informs us that the number plate on the car is the same number plat James had on his very own Buick Electra car he had when he attended High School. James informs us that the film ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2’ takes place in real time two months after the last film finished, that is why James makes Baby Groot only a couple of months old when we see them at the start of the film battling with the inter-dimensional monster who is after eating the special alien batteries and we also find out that this scene was actually the first day of shooting the film. When you see Baby Groot dancing, we are informed that this is James dancing and was captured on a secret film no one has seen, but of course James was captured computer capture imaging facility, and also James informs us this scene with Baby Groot dancing was the most complicated filming procedure ever and there were in fact well over 4,000 Iterative reconstruction algorithms used to reconstruct 2D and 3D images in certain imaging techniques of this one very long shot and was one of the biggest effect shots ever undertaken and praises Chris Townsend [Effects Supervisor] for all of his brilliant work on this one particular scene in the film. James informs us that the Vol.2 film is mainly centred on the story of Per Quill aka Star-Lord seeking out his real Father and was also a more protagonist aspect of the scenario of the films premise. When the spaceship crash lands on the Planet Berhert, this was in fact filmed on one of the largest film sound stage available. When you see the camp fire scene with Kurt Russel and the other characters, well James insisted on a couple of week’s rehearsal to get the scene just right and to stick to the script 100%. James informs us that all the pop songs used in the Vol.2 film was very important and was given 100% clearance from the copyright people, and when James was compiling the list, he had in fact over 500 song titles to choose from, that Peter Quill’s mother would put on his personal mixed tapes. But most important, James would put all the songs used throughout the film onto a Compact Disc, play a particular song when shooting a specific scene and most importantly all the actors and crew would hearing aid bud in their ear so everyone can react to the song being played. When we are back with the damaged spaceship that is being repaired by Rocket, James mentions the Glen Campbell song being played, was one of his favourite song when he was a young child, and James also mentions that he was very lucky to be invited to a 4th July Party not long ago and actually met his song hero Glenn Campbell not long after he sadly passed away. James comments a lot about scenes where there is a lot of talking, compared to what happened in the first film, and James wanted the Vol.2 film to be much more character driven film, so you really get to find out more about the characters. When you see Gamora [Zoe Saldana] sitting on the ground on her own, James informs us that this was inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock film ‘North By Northwest,’ where her angry sister Nebula comes at her and strife’s with all the firepower in order to kill her. With the rest of the audio commentary, James just goes on about all the characters and why wanted then to be portrayed in a certain throughout the Vol.2 film and how in the end they all come together as a family. We also get a lot of technical details how certain scenes were shot and also how all the technical effects were achieved and what he wanted the film to look like. As we get to where the credits start to roll up the screen, James informs us that it is always great to be at a Marvel Studio film screening in the cinema, because fans of the Marvel Studio films always stay right to the very end of the credits that any other film, especially looking out for the posy credit scenes, as James thinks they are always very funny and informs us there is actually five you view. James gives great praise to WETA DIGITAL LIMITED, who he feels did a fantastic job with all the digital effects and animation and especially EGO’s Planet. As we near the end of the credits, James thanks everyone and especially the people at Burbank for all their hard work on the film and also thanks us for staying right throughout the audio commentary. Special Feature: BONUS ROUND: The Making of ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2’ [2017] [1080p] [1.78:1] [37:39] Here you get to view five individual special features looking at various aspects of the production from the director's creative style, the role music plays throughout both films, the production special FX visual effects, also there is a great deal of discussions on the chemistry of what happened between the cast and crew. David “Zardu” Hasselhoff "Guardians Inferno" for the ‘GUADIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2’ [2017] [1080i] [1.37:1] [3:35] Dust off those far out platform shoes and enjoy this blast from the past! Here we view The Sneepers perform the song "Guardians Inferno" in a surprisingly funny, 100% camp retro-style music video that features the voice and performance of David “Zardu” Hasselhoff and if this is right up your street, well this definitely your cup of tea and is a right hoot. The music video features aliens dancing in front of wonderfully tacky, space-themed backdrops and complete with out-of-this-world costumes and choreography. David “Zardu” Hasselhoff ends the video with one simple request: “Just remember, in these times of hardship: We Are Groot.” The video was directed by David Yarovesky, who James Gunn called out on social media. “The idea was mine, but the execution was all his,” the direct James Gunn wrote. Watch right to the end, as we get a cameo appearance of the infamous Stan Lee. Special Feature: Gag Reel [2017] [1080p] [1.78:1] [3:41] With this short special feature, see Sly Stallone has one heck of a time trying to say “Raveger” or is it “Ravenger”? Hear Kurt Russell keep on saying Star Wars instead of Star-Lord. To me some of it was well over the top crass stupidity, especially with Chris Pratt really over doing it with his so called funny larking about and false laughing mode, and after a while starts to get on ones nerve and eventually it is not at all funny. Also you see all the other actors trying to be very funny, to me as a Brit I felt it was totally stupid American humour of the worst kind. Special Feature: Deleted Scenes [2017] [1080p] [1.78:1] [5:00] Here we get to view four deleted scenes, which consist of Adolescent Groot Extended Scene; Memorial to the War on Xandar, Kraglin and Quill Talk Tunes and Mantis and Drax Feel The Sadness Extended Scene. As usual, you can either watch them separately or Play All. SNEAK PEEK: THOR: RAGNAROK [2017] [1080p] [2.39:1] [1:53] BONUS: You get a brilliant designed embossed slip cover that makes it a must own addition for your GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 3D Blu-ray disc Collection. Finally, the ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2’ 3D film is to my mind the ultimate sweet eye-candy presentation, plus you get to a heartfelt exploration of how friends in your life might be as or more important than blood relatives. Even though to some critics the story wasn’t earth-shaking enough for their liking, but to my mind you will be totally and utterly massively entertained by the cast and especially the colourful, imaginative CGI special effects and even the wonderful Baby Groot is his own wonderful attraction. Ultimately, the ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2’ 3D film is a great deal of enormous fun, expertly crafted blockbuster and definitely a worthy follow-up to the previous ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’ film definitely one of my favourites in the Sci-Fi genre. To a lot of critics they did not find it very ground-breaking in the way that the first film was for them, still what do these idiots know, but if you loved the ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY’ film as I did, then I can guarantee you will not find much to complain about the ‘GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2’ 3D film. This totally amazing 3D Blu-ray + 2D Blu-ray set is certainly worth adding to your collection, especially of this type of Sci-Fi genre, and definitely gets a five stars rating from me!
