Zenker Enamel Medium Oblong Pie Dish, Vintage Design, Suitable for Oven

Love enamel bowls, these are a great shape and size for both cooking and serving

At one time I could pop into my local market and buy any size of pie plate I wanted- not so now, living in rural Ireland where the shopping is limited. I really needed a new one as the tired old thing I had been using for many years had stated to develop rust - not the added ingredient needed in an apple pie. So began the search, and this isn't easy because so many suppliers are a little timid when it comes to stating measurements. I knew what I needed, but did they? Anyway, I chose this one. Obviously I lack the ability to imagine size because this thing is HUGE. It could feed the 5000 I'm sure. Failing that it could double up as a jacuzzi, or a footbath. However, I have limited its use to the kitchen and have baked several types of pie and a rhubarb crumble. Normally I would put a crumble in a rectangular dish - I don't know why, just I always have, but this came out of the cupboard first and, amazingly, its capacity is exactly the same as the rectangular one. I just threw this in the dishwasher to clean and it came out nice and shiny and completely crumble free, so I'm pleased with it. My only grumble would be the price as it is more than I would normally pay, however, it is well made and should see me out.

Used this fot first time made an apple pie . Cooked in oven and did not stick . Cleaned well In dishwasher.

A simple, retro-style pie dish. It seems solid, well-made and is exactly what I wanted so no complaints at all! I've not yet made a pie in it! But it seems perfect for making a good, simple, old-fashioned pie. Apple? Steak and kidney? Good depth: space for masses of apple ... or steak and kidney! Before I try either of these, I think I'll line the dish with grease-proof paper ...

Lovely to cook in and easy to clean

Arrived with a big chip in the blue edging. I accepted a refund of £3.00 as I couldn’t be bothered to go to the post office to return it. Not used it yet so hoping it’s good.

The baking dish arrived in a heavy paper bag for packaging. The blue rim of the pie plate had 2 big areas where the rim was worn off, or looked ground. Too bad. I will have to go the process of getting another one. Hopefully in bubble wrap
