She listens to her father's ideas, and also helps him with the finishing touches. Nelly is excited to be a part of it, and she and her father are overwhelmed with joy at the final results. Nelly is happy to be daddy's daughter, a big sister to Baby Gnu, Mama's good helper, and Llama Llama's best friend. Anna Dewdney creates an inspiring story that tugs at the heart, the colorful illustrations compliment the story with adorable characters, who bring the story to life. Entertaining from beginning to end, delightful, and educational. A wonderful addition to a fascinating, enjoyable children's series, and a great gift for Father's Day. Highly recommended to teachers, parents, and child-care providers.

This beautiful story of Daddy gnu and his little girl is a favourite of my husband to read to our 2.5 year old. Featuring beautiful illustrations, lovely poetry and an uplifting story about a girl building a little house with her Dad. This book prompted my husband to build a simpler version with his daughter, a cardboard box version. He often quotes the last line "Daddy knows just what to do" and is so happy to have a book about how a Dad is competent and loving. I prefer this book over the Llama llama ones as it is much more positive. Where Llama always seems to have dramas, nelly is much more sweet and calm.

Another great children's book from Anna Dewdney! My three year old LOVES this entire series. I am slowly building his Llama Llama collection, but this time, it was nice to have a story about a different charachter that he's familiar with! As long as Mrs. Dewdney keeps spitting these adorable stories out, I'll keep buying them up! Suggestion, maybe offer other stuffed charachters? As far as I know, only the Llama Llama stuffed animal is available (which, of course, I purchased), but perhaps a Nelly Gnu or Mama Llama would be great to have, too!

There is a wealth of books available about the special bond between family members, especially moms with their children. This was a nice portrayal of the bond between father and daughter. Pros: -Good length for 2 years. Sometimes it gets read twice in a row. -Solid board book, well constructed and holds up to toddler love. -For those who are reading other books in the Llama Llama series, recognizing the Nelly character might be a bonus. No Cons to list at this time.

In a time where men are not always appreciated as equal parents, this book captured the sweetness and importance of a father-daughter relationship. I couldn't help getting misty-eyed while reading this book... it is so true to life and reflects the relationship that I had with my dad and the relationship my daughters have with their dad. This book is for the dads out there who take an active role in spending time with their daughters. Thank you Anna Dewdney for this treasure!

I saw this book and ordered it for my hubby for Father's Day. I couldn't resist when it was delivered and snuck a peak. :) I loved it! This is the perfect story for my hubby and daughter! Nelly Gnu gets to spend the day with her daddy. Together they build this wonderful playhouse and enjoy spending time together. Daddy's patient and let's Nelly Gnu help with the building and even takes her to the store to buy supplies. My daughter loves to spend time in the garage with her daddy building cabinets for his work. She even calls Home Depot the Daddy Store. I can't wait for Father's Day so they can enjoy snuggle time before bed reading this story together!!

What a wonderful book! My 21-month old daughter has always been very attached to me (the mother), despite the fact that my husband is an equal-time caregiver. We already owned a lot of books that celebrate the bond between mothers and children, so I was looking for a book that focused on the father-child relationship. My daughter loves this book, and my husband was very touched that I sought it out. Also, I find this book is the perfect length for her...some of the llama llama books are a little long for her age. Highly recommend!!

My 2 year old LOVES this book! We picked up this book when our daughter was going through a phase of being very clingy towards her mom (me). This book was a great way for my husband to talk to my daughter about how much he loves her. They love talking about the adventures of Nelly Gnu and her dad. This book really captures the special bonds that dads and daughters can have, without any implying any stereotypes about parental roles of moms and dads. I love the rhythm of Anna Dewdney's writing in this book and others. We've owned this book for about 4 months now, and we read it often, but I'm still not tired of reading it.

I bought this for my grandaughter Nelly as a little gift during lock down. It is a very positive story and beautiful graphics, a joy.

Good quality sweet book for parents and kids to read together. Bought as part of a Father’s Day gift and it was perfect! Nice story.

My girls love this book!

I was wondering why all the Llama Llama books are about Llama Mama only, no Llama Dad. But this book is not about Llama Llama's father, it's about someone else, and it's not as cute or sweet as the Llama & mama books. My kid knows the Llama Mama books off by heart but she wasn't too interested in this one.
