FiiOnomenal budget DAC
This is a great little DAC for relatively little money. It’s made of high quality components (including an ESS Sabre chipset), is supremely portable and, most importantly, transforms the mediocre sound from my smartphone into a Hifi experience. It’s my go-to DAC whilst at work, and I’m listening to it through a pair of AKG Y500’s, streaming a fruit-based music app (hi-res lossless files) and it sounds mint. Highly recommended.Enjoy!

Excellent value
Really impressed - I use it on an iphone 14 Pro Max and the quality of both Apple Hi-Res and Tidal MQA files is excellent. Full bodied, involving, and with a good pair of headphones the sound is light years ahead of music without a DAC. I’m clearly not an audiophile expert, the only difference between this and my (none portable) iFi DAC is the amplification, the KA1 needs to be played at almost full volume for me, but only *almost* full volume, so that makes it fine with me!Fits easily in my headphone case, and for the price, it’s a bargain.

I broke the lightning connector :(
Great sound, Conveniently small, low power drain.Unfortunately the hard wired lightning connector was too fragile for my use (belt holstered iPhone).Upgrade to the KA3 which although it sounds even better and has a replaceable cable brings a whole new set of (power drain) issues. So I’d definitely recommend a KA1 for iPhone use, just treat it very gently ;)

Great little bit of kit....
Does what it says on the tin. Used on a iPhone, everything just sounded crisper and brighter. What more can I say.

Reasonably good sound for the price
It broke after a few days so I had to return it. Cable connection is weak as water.

Great sound but unreliable
The KA1 has great sound for the money, however it broke down after less than 6 months. Fortunately Amazon were happy to do a refund.

Wow what an experience
Took me a few uncomfortable minutes to work out why this wasn’t working when I first plugged it into my lightning port on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. I went into Face ID and scrolled all the way to the bottom and enabled USB accessories. My Austrian Audio head set kicked into life. The clarity of what I was listening to amazed me. I’m no audiophile but do enjoy decent quality music, (my genre is electronic). I’ve even managed to get some 96Khz audio on my iPhone via Onxyo HF player and it’s a very clear source of audio.I’ve compared this sound with, my AirPod pro 2 and plantronics back beat pro 2 obviously both Bluetooth and the Fiio KA1 DaC paired with my Austrian Audio HI-X15 is definitely clearer and a much better listening experience. Overall highly recommended.

Handy
I cannot get much difference using this with my iPhone (streaming hi-res). If there is any difference its pretty negligible. Using my Audio-Technica M50x headphones (which sound pretty good without the DAC applied in any case) doesn't make a difference I can tell. Similar with iPad. My iPad has more than enough juice to drive these headphones really well. I don't need to increase volume very much at all. However ... using this with a MacBook Pro (configuring using the onboard Midi app to the correlating quality of FLAC files 24/96 tried out here) - and you really can hear the difference. I just used the supplied USB adapter, and everything much smoother, deeper and detailed. Slightly more amplified sound too. Very impressive in this regard. Same headphones - this time everything comes to life. I suspect I won't bother using with my phon after all but with the MBP. **Update** Cable broken after 6 months use. Too fragile for OTG frankly, and cable could be a good bit shorter. Just not sturdy enough

Imprescindible

Best little DAC out there for the price.
Incredible sound staging and detail for the price. This little guy may not have much to offer in extra features like physical controls, multiple outputs, etc, but he more than makes up for it by breathing fresh life into your music. If you're used to Bluetooth audio, the result is so much more warmth, less artificial crispness, and a more airy and open sound. It absolutely tramples $10 Apple headphone adapters or most phones' internal headphone jack. Yes, it can do Hi Res and bitrates, but even with standard Lossless 44.1khz/16bit recordings, it gives so much more life and vibrancy to playback. That's a pretty hard thing to measure but it is absolutely noticeable if your brain loves audio details as much as mine does. I'd definitely consider getting a couple more, and one for USB-C for my laptop. I tested the Lightning version with Apple Music streaming Lossless and Hi-Res tracks over WI-FI.

Awesome DAC/Amp👍🏻
This tiny little thing has big sound. I’m fairly new to being a budget audio file, so the only other dac I have to compare this to is the audioquest dragonfly black. This for $65.00 less actually has a better sound signature and soundstage. I would say the amp part of the ka1 is a bit less robust than the dragonfly, but only slightly. The dragonfly actually is a bit too loud and the ka1 is much louder than the normal apple dongle, which is plenty imo. The ka1 is so small, that I’m AMAZED at the sound quality from this thing. If you’re on a budget this is the BEST DAC/Amp you can buy. I’m an audio technica guy, so I’ve been using the M series and the ART series with this. Battery consumption is fairly low as well. Also, I’ve seen a few people say that a budget dongle at $15.95 sounded better, and to them I say to you get your hearing checked. The ka1 is awesome!!!
