Good taste, great coffee substitute
This is a very good substitute for coffee. I have really band acid reflux and recently my doctor told me to quit caffeine and coffee in general, so decaf was not an option apparently. I decided to try chicory. I usually drink my coffee black, with no sweetener or creamer. This was basically my only option since people said it was the closest to coffee taste (which I love) the scent is more like vanilla-ish than coffee and for me, it took me a week or so to come up with the perfect amount of chicory for my 16oz cup because the first times it was bitter. Now my "coffee" is perfect every morning and I will definitely purchase this again. The only ingredient is chicory so you don't have to worry about weird stuff. I highly recommend it

Happy with this. No problems.
Well, the taste is great. Tastes very similar to coffee. Maybe 80-95% similar. There are some notes that coffee doesn't have, which remind me of maybe black tea? It's a bit bitter in a black-tea kind of way. Almost like if you mixed coffee and black tea together. I wanted to get this for possible health benefits, and appreciate this company seemed like they were careful in how they made this. It's from France, not India, and the price is good for getting a whole pound. I bought this because I read it helps with gut health. Apparently it can help kill some bacterial and fungal infections by making the gut healthier, and I believe this is happening for me. Be aware this can upset your stomach, and I'm taking a smaller amount of the Chicory as my stomach adjusts (1/2 tablespoon or less per cup). Since starting this yesterday, my mood is boosted, and I had way more energy (Chicory has no caffeine, but I think the health benefits are helping me, as I usually have very bad fatigue and my gut health is very bad as I bloat so easily no matter what I eat or drink). Maybe I'm imagining this, but I suspect it's helping. If you google Chicory you can read about the studies showing how it can help, which I am excited about. A.I. told me that Chicory can mess up how bacteria communicate before they form an attack, and this can help stop them. It especially can help with gram positive bacteria and some yeasts. So far I've been adding the chicory in with my cup of daily coffee, and it seems to be easy to brew like that. I had one cup on it's own just to try the taste, and liked that as well.

No caffeine needed
This Chicory is amazing. Iโve tried other brands and they donโt compare to the smooth taste of this one. I gave up coffee because of acid reflux and never looked back. Acid reflux all gone and having no caffeine has given me more energy. Chicory has insulin in it which gives energy. You can only have one cup a day though because itnslows digestion. I wouldnโt advise it with GLP1โs. It tastes great.

I love this stuff!!! UPdate: Still Loving this stuff!!!
Aug. 2025 Update: Since it took about 1/2 cup of coffee grounds to brew the strength I liked, and only 2 Tbsp chicory grounds to brew the strength of chicory drink I like (no coffee mixed in with the chicory - just chicory), I don't think this is expensive. Just mentioning that because of others saying they think this is expensive. I put in the same flavorings as I did for coffee. I'll never go back to coffee. This tastes much better. Still Lovin' It :) Update: Still loving this chicory. I've been drinking it instead of coffee for 1.5 yrs and have never gone back to coffee. Am lovin' this brew. Thank you, Worldwide Botanicals. :) At first, my taste buds cried foul because it didn't taste like coffee, and they wanted coffee in the mornings. Oh, well. A few days later, my taste buds were craving it. They had started to detect a chocolate flavor and other rich flavors they liked. I had a hard time waiting until the next morning... Too fun. So happy to leave coffee behind, or was I? So, one morning I had a cup of coffee, made in my usual way, and omg - it tasted worse than a water extract of the cardboard box cereal comes in (probably). I threw away any coffee grounds that were taking up important real estate in my freezer; store my chicory grounds in the freezer; brew it in my coffeemaker; flavor it in the same ways I flavored my coffee - fabulous taste. I brew it with 2T of chicory per full, Mr. Coffee sized carafe. I use 2T in my 24oz French press, brew it cold in the fridge from afternoon until the next morning, then microwave it so the heat can knock out the inflammatory chemicals (which coffeemaker brewing would have broken down); the beneficial antioxidant molecules are not hurt by heating. Then once it's hot, I can add ice for a cold drink or leave it hot. The French press version tastes so good, too. Anyway, highly recommend this brand of chicory, and am glad I left coffee behind. :)

Little potent coffee + ice !
A little too potent for my wife/ I really enjoy it. Just need to put in @ 6 oz and add another 6 oz of water to mellow it out after the first couple cups; good morning!!

delicious chicory coffee
Good coffee. A little strong for me as I like medium flavored coffees. So I use less than recommended and it works out great.

Tastes great! Just like coffee!!
It taste just like my coffee, but it's not! I had to lower my caffeine intake but I need a warm drink in the morning and I remembered that when I was in New Orleans there was something called Chickory Coffee, so some research and it is what the French used during their civil war in the 1800's when they weren't able to get coffee. No caffeine, taste just like coffee and its a root!

Just Try It For Yourself!!!
My grandmother used to have an old school percolator coffee pot on top of her wood stove filled with wild foraged chicory root coffee. The smell was amazing. I was looking for a coffee substitute to help decaffeinate my system and came across Worldwide Botanicals French Chicory Root. Oh. My. Gosh. Absolutely delicious! I now make a half caff coffee in the morning using a 50/50 ratio of Chicory root and coffee grounds. I feel much more calm and focused. After some research, I discovered that Chicory root soothes the nervous system! I have now incorporated Chicory root lattes into my evening routine to help wind down for bed. I am hooked! Chicory root was the herbal remedy I never knew I needed, and I highly recommend. Enjoy!

Chicory Root transforms coffee.
I tried this chicory root in drip coffee. Two TBSP of fresh ground coffee plus one TBSP of chicory. The difference is not trivial, it is amazing: smooth, rich, and far less acid.

Better than coffee!
Brews like coffee, tastes like coffee โฆ better than coffee actually (as it has no caffeine) and has thus exquisite caramel notes. You gotta try it!!!

Worthwhile purchase
I bought this as a coffee substitute when I went on a low-acid diet. I experimented with a few different products (Caf-Lib, for example). I LOVE coffee. I love the little caffeine burst of joy that I get from my first cup of the day so, yeah, this doesn't have caffeine and there is no substitute for that. HOWEVER, this makes a VERY satisfying cupp something warm and yummy. I just used a pour-over coffee maker and the brew was rich and flavorful and comforting. You need a little less than with regular coffee to get rich flavour as the 'grounds' expand when you pour hot water over them. The bag is very large, so good value for your money. I'm back 'on coffee' again but sometimes make a brew of half chicory, half coffee which is pretty good. Very satisfied with this purchase.
