Does the blade have a lock when open

Its a free swing blade, it works very well as a practical carving knife and to part rope but you should not pocket this one.

Hi I am just wondering if anybody has tried to whittle wood with this knife?

While I haven't tried to whittle wood with this knife, I have cleaned a couple dozen cottontail rabbits with it. It holds an edge well and sharpens easily. Remember...the blade does not lock in place and should not be carried in your pocket.

Any particular reason why there is no maker’s mark on the knife? Only says D2.

No idea. I assume it is Chinese, at that price. I have seen what appears to be the same knife, same price sold under “Outfans” aegis. I have also seen same (apparently) knife on sale for around $30.00. Other knives are available under Eafengrow mark. To sum up, provenance is dubious, steel is dubious (is it really D2?), but it is only $11.99, not badly made, takes an edge, and as far as I know, does not rip off anybody’s design.
