Platoon [Blu-Ray] [Region Free] (English audio)

bought this as an update from blu ray,looks great,happy.

Slight improvement some scene's really gooddrop everything..if your a fan of the film it's worth getting

Brilliant movie again let down by mediocre sound,picture quality is definitely improved but why no Atmos or DTSx ? Hollow sounding explosions spoil the drama and horror of war,the mind boggles,but recommended.

Film came with a sleeve. The amount of detail that's visible in the film under 4K conditions is astounding. It's definitely the best rendering of the film to date in my opinion.

This is a great movie but the 4k leaves a lot to be desired. The transfer of the film is not very good and does not look like it is above the blu ray version. There are many grainy shots which leave a lot to be desired. I would have preferred 7.1 but 5.1 audio is ok. Many extra features but if you have the blu ray there really is not much new here. I would say if you own a blu ray version of platoon only get this version if you can get it cheap.

This was a nice transfer of the movie to 4K. Great cast. Aside from the obvious, you get to see a young Johnny Depp in one of his first movies, Forrest Whitaker, Corey Glover, and Kevin Dillon with a brief appearance by Director Oliver Stone [just before he gets blown up]. Question is why is this called a "Collector's Edition"? If you compare against the 2006 Blu-ray only edition, there is the 4K movie and new menus that were added. [Just about every new 4K transfer has audio and video upgrades.] There is nothing new except the packaging - which I found the 2006 cover of William Dafoe's Sgt. Elias pose to be way better. Oddly, the list of extras on the back of the case was also complete in the 2006 edition but not in this 2022 edition.
