better than my electric cooker
I bought this to take with me to college since my university wont allow certain electronics and to be safe i decided to get this rice cooker. Its small enough to stow away and can cook enough rice for a small family if needed. Best of all it cooks better than my electric cooker which can leave rice soggy or toasted on the bottom. One day while eating I had even received a complement on how my rice looked so perfectly cooked. I KNOW right? The convenience of this rice cooker has made me start using it rather than my electric. The plastic quality is excellent and seems very durable and thick. One small negative is that half way through the cooking process it can overflow a little and create a slimy puddle of rice juice despite the lid bring closed properly, but is not enough of a reason to take away a star, and i simply clean it up with a paper towel. Also, it only comes in red and clean up is easy since the rice doesn't burn. The provided rice spatula is great.

GREAT!
I just got it. It's awesome. The clip/latches on the side are a little cheap, but it's a great little gadget. Just made sushi rice in it. The manual does not reference sushi rice, so I did a 2:1 water:rice ratio and added 2 mins to the cooking time. It came out perfectly once it rested for the 5 mins. Ridiculously easy to clean-I would recommend hand washing if only to prolong it's lifespan (it's only 3 pieces-bowl, interior steaming lid, and outside lid), and it looks like it could hold a fairly giant quantity of cooked rice. So glad I bought this :) Update: made a large batch of jasmine rice and the starchy water leaked all over the microwave...but now I just put the whole thing in a large bowl to catch the over-flow and it's still fine.

PERFECT Rice EVERY TIME!
One perfect little pot! Works like a charm. I purchased this because of the great reviews. Well it is great. Thought I could make rice for a few dinners at a time, but I gotta tell you, it is so fast and easy, with especially easy clean up, I make a fresh batch each day! No more sticky or raw rice and burned pots! Microwave Rice Cooker

Works brilliantly if you calibrate to your microwave heat
This is only good for single-servings. Do not, I repeat do *not*, attempt to make a whole cup of rice in this thing, you'll have rice foam all over your microwave and probably have to add more water and cook it twice. But for half cups, as long as you're willing to calibrate how much water you add with the "high" level of your microwave, this little baby will give you lovely, fluffy rice every time. For my microwave, the proportions are 2 1/2 water to 1 white jasmine rice, and it cooks on high for 11 minutes. If you want something you won't have to watch *or* calibrate, then you need to suck it up and get an actual good quality countertop rice cooker. That's the trade-off. Decide for yourself whether you're willing to make it. If you want something that can cook more than a single serving, take a look at the four cup version. For me, this is absolutely perfect and came at a price that made my pocketbook sing (or at least sigh with relief).

College Must Have!
Purchased this for College Freshman niece - absolutely loves it! Says it's the next best thing to the "real" thing, maybe even better. Her and roommate have to make at least two pots (everyone in dorm found out about this hot secret) but it's well worth it. I'd give it 5 stars, but I have not tested ... stay tuned. Great product! She also uses the Handy Gourmet Microwave Pressure Cooker. They've made chicken in this and loves it too! In fact, the rice cooks even better in the pressure cooker. Thank you Amazon!

Fanastic for those who are iffy around stoves
I bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday. He loves rice but is allways nervous about using the stove since he never cooks except for heating things in the microwave. This product makes fantastic rice. The steps are the same as they would be if you cooked it on the stove, but this way there is no accidental burning and he can cook rice when i'm not at home. The cleanup is also very easy. We both love it!

Microwave Rice Cooker
There's no shortcut to cooking good rice. I read the reviews that recommended cooking no more than 1 1/2 cups of rice due to overflow. I cooked 1 cup of rice with the directed 1 1/2 cups of water for 10 minutes and ended up with a mess in my microwave. The unit overflowed with sticky, starchy water. The rice that was left in the coooker was practically inedible. Very mushy on top with hard spots throughout. The cooker itself was actually harder to clean than a standard electric rice cooker. Throw in the time it took me to clean my microwave and this cooker actually costs you time instead of saving it. Spend the extra $20 or so and get a regular electric rice cooker.

Quick but not perfect
I tried several times, but could never get the fluff of the electric cookers, my boss is a South Indian he refused to eat it- believe me- he knows rice. I however use it since its quik and ez to clean . I recommend putting 1/2 to 1 cup water extra for each cup of rice and microwaving to the middle range of time--not the max recommended time. Also open the bowl as soon as it is done to prevent drying. Overall ok for singles, but rice quality simply absent. Though I use it everyday since it is simple.
