An Outstanding Book on Positive Parenting
This book is an incredible resource for parents at any age. It clearly and methodically addresses major issues and challenges in parenting, and makes clear distinctions between what is positive and what is harmful for your developing child. The author went to great lengths to address every parenting situation possible, many I had never even considered before. I feel it was even healing of my own childhood upbringing, allowing my inner children to understand what is right and wrong. I honestly wish that governments would give this book to all new parents. Not only would it create a healthier culture, it would literally save billions of dollars in social programs. I couldn't recommend it more!

Good practical advice, respects the parents – and the kids. Clear examples.
This book is great for new parents, and I think it will also be valuable for parents of older kids – it covers issues from infancy, through the toddler problems, and then on to the teenage years. It suggests the same consistent approach throughout: approaching issues with a positive attitude and working to have mutual trust and connection. This sounds easy, but I think any parent knows it can be tough. So the book continues in each section with a lot of practical advice and examples of how to implement this positive approach.I liked these examples, and found it therefore very useful, as well as “respectful” to the parents reading it. The author seems to fully understand the frustrations of parents, and how difficult it can be when you are there in the trenches dealing with an angry child, but still trying to move toward a positive outcome.

Good book
If you’re a parent who’s looking for a book on positive parenting to raise your kids with emotional intelligence and mutual respect then the book is a good start. It offers many strategies and tools that can be used while raising a child. The author accompanies them with some practical advice and examples which makes the book easier to apply in real life situations. I don’t entirely agree with everything the author presents in the book, for example using time outs with toddlers, but it’s rarely the case that we agree with a certain approach entirely and that’s ok. You can still get plenty of takeaways from the book. What I found disappointing however was the beginning of the book where the author tries to explain the difference between punishment and discipline. The terminology wasn’t used consistently, some editing is definitely needed in that part. Having said that, I would still recommend this book as it offers important insight on how to raise compassionate, responsible and emotionally intelligent children.

Helpful Ideas, But Lacks Depth in Some Areas
Positive Parenting and Discipline Tools to Raise Good Kids offers useful advice on balancing kindness with firmness and emphasizes positive discipline. I liked the focus on building emotional intelligence and mutual respect with your child. However, I felt the book didn't go deep enough into the challenges of real-life parenting. Some sections felt too brief, and I wished for more practical examples and specific solutions for handling difficult situations.
