Awesome kit! Fun tinkering project for the weekend and it plays really really well. Way more solid and full sounding than my Epiphones/Squires. I spent A LOT of time reshaping the heads, charring and finishing the unpainted wood, sanding, and painting because I’m a bit of a perfectionist 😂 but straight out of the box it was pretty well finished. You DON’T need to solder anything, it’s all plug and play for the wiring. Got a little stuck on the method to wire the bridge/ground wires but a quick YouTube search fixed that. Also remember when you’re installing the hardware, the predrilled holes might be a tad off here and there so don’t rush it. For example on the pick guards, start on the holes that line up perfect and do the other holes last. The wood is soft so the screws will find their way home. Really happy with the finished product especially for the price point.

You're going to need the video to put it together--and beware, the configuration you get may not match the video, but with a little common sense, you can handle it. The three-way toggle switches all work fine, the pots are okay for the price, the tuners are okay, the neck is fine, and the wood isn't bad, either. If you're going to paint it, a light sanding is all you need. I used 5 coats of hand-rubbed tung oil followed by carbauba wax and to be honest, the finish is still a little rough but again, for the money--hard to beat. A fun project--as you might expect, the furnished strings aren't great but if you change them out, I'd suggest the lightest gauge you can find. Overall, for the price and for the finished look, this is a keeper.

Bought this kit and it sat in the garage for over a year before I started on it. My thoughts. The necks are excellent. No need to do any work on the frets or the fit to the body. They fit nice and tight. The body is well made, Routs are clean and in the right place. My particular body was made from 3 pieces of good quality mahogany but the grain patterns did not make for a clear finish. They needed to be painted (my opinion only). Hardware is hit and miss. I replaced the tuners and ALL of the wiring components. The wiring harness is inferior to say the least. Got all the parts I needed from Amazon and I designed a wiring harness using push/pull pots and better quality switches. My advice is to take measurements of routing depths and hole diameters and order parts that will fit. I may be mistaken but the bridge and stop bar tailpiece appear to be made by a high end manufacturer that's name starts with an E. Took some thought but I came up with a wiring scheme that I thought was better suited for this guitar. Did some modifications to the headstock shape to improve visual appeal. It has been a fun project to tackle in my retirement. Bottom line, the basic parts that are the hardest to make are excellent. It is a great kit to use as a starting point. Upgrade the wiring components and you will have a nice instrument that rivals commercial guitars that can cost thousands of dollars. I've spent the last 2 1/2 months on putting a finish on the body and necks, and I am starting on the wiring harness this week. Looking for a hollow body as my next project. Just go for it and have fun.

The kit was easy to put together using the video and the instruction manual (message the seller to get a copy - the seller is very responsive). I added Ernie ball strings and it plays and sounds great. Minor issue with the wiring but doesn’t affect the play.

No missing parts. Pre-drills all lined up fine. Good quality wood (body, necks, and fretboards). Switches, knobs, pickups all functioning. I chose Ernie Ball Slinkys over the supplied strings. No instructions, but not too bad to get through via the video and some tutorials. Pretty awesome bang for the buck for an Epiphone G-1275 wannabe. Now that the strings have stretched, it's staying tuned, sounds great, and plays well. Was a fun project for me. I am enjoying my finished guitar !

For the price this is an absolutely stellar DIY kit. If you were to buy a doubleneck 12 string guitar from a major manufacturer you would be spending many thousands of dollars. The model of electric 12 string that Jimmy Page played currently goes for $10,000! There ain't no forest of magic trees. The parts that come with this guitar are well made and can be the equal of Page's guitar if you put in the time to learn how to paint and buff it. This guitar of course comes unfinished. There is a great 3 part video court on YouTube that the guitar luthiery company Stew Mac put out on how to get a professional music store quality finish from rattle aerosol paint cans. If you follow the videos, you can easily get that high level of a finish on this guitar. I did.

(Picture is before I changed the pickups) Alright so I’ve put together a handful of guitars and this one was probably the longest one, if you want to do it right be prepared to spend an extra 400-600$. Don’t get me wrong the body the necks are nice. I actually really liked the necks. But the wiring and the pickups are just garbage, no offense. I thought the other reviews were being harsh but when I plugged it in before changing out the pickups and doing the wiring it, the sound was bad. Consequently buzzing and very drowned out by the buzzing, but what can you expect for the price, I’m just putting that out there incase anyone wants an all in one no extra expenses kit. But other than that it’s a really good deal for the price, the body and necks alone. The video is alright to follow, wish there was a paper instructions instead but sense this wasn’t my first go it was fine. If you do this project and it’s your first time and you want a nice guitar you’ll need: Oil stain or any guitar paint & finish Sand paper New strings, 6 & 12 4 pickups & wire Soldering iron / Solder (60/40 or 63/37 tin-lead rosin-core solder with a diameter of about 0.025 to 0.032 inches) conductive copper foil or shielding paint to block unwanted electrical noise and hum

Full disclaimer, experienced luthier here: The wiring needs a little love but works ok as supplied and for $220 this is just a screaming deal. Everything is here, is neat and clean and reasonably functional as is. The supplied strings are meh, especially for the 12 string neck but with these kits I always assemble and play first to see if there are any deeper issues before I put a finish on the thing and they're a perfect throwaway set for that. At the end of the day it's hard to find anything bad to say at this price point. It sounds and looks great and is a fun and unique guitar(s). If you're reasonably adventurous and know how to hold a screwdriver and use the internet I think you can do this just fine. Every screw has a correct place, they're not labeled but take your time and think through where they go based on how many of each size you have and you'll be fine.

The guitar was a straightforward build. The mahogany has character and the possibilities for different colours and effects are endless. The neck(s) pocket fit very well as this was a concern with a diy kit. All holes lined up perfect and the electronics were easy to install. I haven't had a chance to play around with the set up yet but so far so good! A slight problem with delivery date but the customer service was awesome! I don't think you can go wrong with this product.

I love this guitar, my kids love it even more. Haven’t even adjusted the intonation or neck tension yet, and both necks are playable. I’ve yet to sand and paint it, but I’m still impressed. Also, yes, all the parts are there. Not sure how I was supposed to use every particular screw, as the baggies aren’t that well organized, but everything fits like a glove. I’ll revise this review when I have my amp available and the guitar’s been sanded and painted. Now this is less of a review and more of a heads up to buyers: The strings are crap, especially for the 12 string. But that’s what you expect for a guitar you spent less than $900 on. If you don’t like the strings, buy some Ernie balls or d’darrios, it’s a small price to pay. the only “instructions” you’re going to get with this, is a schematic diagram for the electronics. They’re not fully comprehensive, so pro tip: red wired pickups are for the bridge, yellow for the neck. As for the rest of the guitar, I built it myself, with nothing but intuition. You can do the same. This is not a beginner’s kit, but it’s also not rocket science. If you’re okay with DIY (emphasis on figuring it out yourself), and minor maintenance, and you want a playable instrument in the end, you’ll fully enjoy this guitar kit.
