I use a tapestry needle that's large with a blunt end (the kind used for cross stitch or plastic canvas). Then gently push the laces through until I can grasp them from the other side. The thing that makes it tricky is having to squeeze & hold the spring lock open while pushing the lace through. A couple of times I had to have my husband or son squeeze the lock while I threaded the lace.

Sturdy and easy to use
