Ultra Pro Entertainment Ascension (4th Set): Immortal Heroes Card Game

good addition to the original game. i didn't count but seems like it balances the hero/monster ratio better than the original.

Ascension is a solid and fun game and Immortal Heroes adds exciting new dimensions to the game with the soul shards. Though they might feel like a way to simply repeat older cards, the way they enter play immediately allows for a fresh twist on classic cards.

Immortal Heroes is an excellent expansion to the ever growing ascension card game! Get it while you can!! There are rumors that the small box expansions may not get reprinted soon. And that would be a tragedy!

One of the great deck building games made even better by adding ascension: Immortal Heroes. Bear in mind this is an expansion, you need one of the base sets.

This is a solid addition to the Ascension game. Played alone, it has its own distinct flavor because of the Soul Gem system. Soul Gems are hero cards from previous expansions, earned by playing certain cards from this set, which last for one turn and then are banished. This can lead to more interesting turns and monstrous combos if you get lucky. The game also includes several interesting event cards, distinct from those introduced in Storm of Souls. But the best part of this expansion are the "New Event" cards. First you separate out all event cards from the main deck. Then, five of these cards are shuffled into the main deck for every expansion set you're using. When they are drawn, you pull a new event out of the stack of events. This fixes the problem that dedicated players (like me!) who bought every expansion encountered - since there were only five event cards, they almost never came up or were relevant in gameplay, causing the Fanatic trophy cards to be largely useless. I'm hoping that whatever expansion comes out next adds more Soul Gem-oriented cards - because now that I've mixed Immortal Heroes in with my full Ascension set, I'm left wishing that Soul Gems would come up more often!! If you love Ascension, this is a great expansion that proves that Gary Games are constantly trying to improve the experience for new players as well as long-time fans.

I've played this game several times before buying it, and this is my favorite expansion of the set. Other expansions just feel less impressive once you've played 50 cards in a single turn.

My favorite ascension expansion (although Realms gives it a run for the money and I haven't had a chance to try Dawn yet). All of the ascension games are great, this is the best.

Box showed up with a good amount of damage on the exterior of the games box. love the game and the playing of it. If i had one complaint it would be that some of the art is much too disconnected with the art on other cards.
