I've got eds-ht and my shoulders are super lax. at the recommendation of my physical therapist, i'm looking for a brace that i could wear fairly frequently (as it flares up) although not constantly. would this brace be appropriate for that?

Can i use it while backpacking/hiking

The strap tightens with Velcro, during physical exertion the Velcro strap does come loose.
